Macs Can Now Officially Run Windows (lt)
http://www.apple.com/macosx/bootcamp/
In a surprising move, Apple has officially allows and provides a way to install and run Windows XP on Intel Macs. At the moment, it's in beta but will be included in the next version of Mac OS X, due by the end of this year. In response to this move, Apple's stock has shot up to 6% in heavy trading. Tech pundits and analysts regard this move as a daring but very smart move in potentially increasing the Mac's market share significantly. Potential switchers who longed for the superior hardware and softwares of the Macs now have no excuse not to. Because they can continue to run their Windows XP and apps. Microsoft will benefit from this as it means increase sales of Windiows, but PC hardware manufacturers such as Dell, Hp, and Sony will be hit hard. Because Apple now sells machines that can directly compete with PC machines and yet has the distinct advantage of being able to run most modern OSes, wih Mac OS X, Windows, and various flavors of Linux. Such an ability is a boon for the business and enterprise market. And no, it's not a late April Fool's joke. |

O_O
my heart is beating very fast my immediate response to intels in macs was "blasphemy!!!" - as any hardcore mac cultist would relate with. but as i continued to watch job's convincing keynote i was filled with gooey excitedness. this produces more of that goo. the bridge is finally being built between the two platforms. soon we'll be launching executables like osx apps and not even realize we've entered a windows environment. now if only apple would work equally as hard to get os9 to run in intel macs >.<

Yes, if Apple could achieve a virtualization or even a WINE-like approach to simply running Windows .exes in OS X as if it was a Universal Binary app, that would be the shiznit.
Finally, I can play Windows only hentai games!!! Oh, BTW, http://www.tuaw.com/media/2006/04/bsodimac.jpg The horror. Why do you wish for continued OS 9 support? It's time to move on, man. Stressing over legacy support is what screwed ovver Windows. Macs can't be like that. |

There's no reason to stop using your old Mac when you get a new one. You know as muuch as I do how long a Mac can be useful for. My old Bondi Blue iMac is still in use by my uncle for browsing the Internet and playing Chess.

I heard about this a year ago, lol. My dad built a G4 and was going to put a Windows system on it but decided to just get another computer with windows already.
