I've honestly never considered DragonForce battle metal. They're alright but if you've heard one of thier songs you've heard them all.

Manowar's good. Can't say that I'm the biggest fan as I only own one album, The Triumph Of Steel, but based on that album, I like. Sometimes a bit too much time taken for beginning affects though, heh.

well, dragonforce normally sing about battles when they have finished...
e.g. 'my soul and spirit will go on for all of eternity'

the only reason i class them as battle metal and not power metal is because i feel it is easier to remember!

It's really more of a lyrical genre. Like national socialist black metal differs from black metal only in lyrics (as far as I know), or so I've been led to believe.

As aforementioned, its power metal.

Generally i don't like power metal... when they start singing about nights and minstrels, and mixing a damned lute in with heavily distorted guitars, i switch off.

DragonForce though... yes i like, i have their album and i think its pretty good. Its not frequent that the British music scene produces power metal, and its nice to see that these guys have taken the genre under their wing and brought it out into the open with a high degree of skill.
Manowar, i haven't heard... but i shall go download a few of their songs. I'll also download a few Rhapsody songs while i'm at it, i've heard they sound very similar to DragonForce.

Yeah, this is definately power metal... but I can see why you would classify some songs as 'Battle Metal'. Probably 20% of power metal tunes have lyrics that pertain to a battle, kings, fighting, something...

Manowar, Rhapsody, Dragonforce have some songs that have battle lyrics... but lets not forget about Hammerfall (unforgiving blade, legacy of kings, etc)... Good stuff. I still prefer cleaner power metal like Stratovarius, Blind Guardian, Gamma Ray, and the other bigger ones. As mentioned before... I like power metal mainly for the melodic guitar solos and riffs... I never really listen to the lyrics b/c I'm a guitar player.

Dragon force are good but Dimmu Borgir is Better ( norweign black metal band ) who doesnt like a good number of songs about killing things lol

Dimmu Borgir are a ****ing horrible band. They were at one point Melodic Black, and only decently so, now they make horrible Gothic metal.

Anyways, I think you would like Stormlord, as they have a "battle" like feel, same with Turisas.

You didn't have to list the songs, all of HammerFall's songs are about the same thing, give or take a few. Sweden is apparently a very dangerous place.

hammerfall are good but i think that they r just a harder version of rainbow and Dio , just singing about battles , kings that sort of thing what u got to remember is that dio is the origanal ( i dont really like dio or rainbow lol )
