Dislikes about Final Fantasy VII

The topic is obvious, however I'll go ahead and state this first:

This thread is not for people who don't like FF:VII -- it's for people who did/do/love it and just want to talk about their dislikes in regards to the in-game details, and things that could have been better about the game. That said, I would appreciate no: "FFVII is played out"..."FFVII is gay and so are their fanboys"..etc, etc.

So, feel free to talk about what you didn't like, and what could have been better! I'll start:

One of the most annoying things to me was obtaining a Gold Chocobo. I must have spent hours, upon hours, upon days getting one. By the time I did, I didn't even want to look at FF:VII for awhile because of all the freakin battles I had to go through to get chocobos worth breeding. I never obtained a Gold Chocobo through the Gold Saucer, or by trading with the traveler in Kalm.

So yeah -- I loathe Golden Chocobos

Um there is enough FF7 haters here so this is ridiuculus dude, I might as well make a "Dislikes about FF6" and all the other games too.

Precisely the response I said above I didn't want.

This thread is for people who LIKE FINAL FANTASY VII, if you do not like it, or are one of the many who think it's played out. Please don't post.

Edit:
I'm also referring to in-game dislikes. I doubt anyone cares how much you think Squeinx is milking the FF:VII cow, or how drawn out and rediculous this series is getting.

Er...the music was midi.

The music is absolutely amazing one of, if not my favourite soundtracks ever.

But i would've preferred greater recording quality, and the inclusion of real instruments and more of a real sound like FFVIII's soundtrack. (for the record FFVII has a far superior soundtrack than FFVIII but FFVIII sounded better.)

PS i can get a gold chocobo from scratch in about 4-5 hours.

Hence why my name here was Bobby Corwen (the baby chocobo from FFIX in the black mage village) and my custom title was King of Chocobos

I also kind of dislike the ending, did not seem long enough to me after such a long story that more than likely took awhile to conjure up. However I suppose that's what FF:AC, and DoC are suppose to be for =)

its not really that hard man, just plan ahead what you need to do, and having a shit load of gil (sell a few mastered ALLs) wouldn't hurt.

Alot of the graphics sucked like when Aeris died in other games like final fantasy x-2 if that would of happened you would of been like OMG it'd be even sadier then when I first saw it and I was really young and I still though it looked crappy their hair looked liked it was kinda of like a digital since it was flat you couldn't tell where one peice began and one ended it was like a wig to my eyes.

Off the top of my head, I can think of:

Storyline - Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it's bad, but it wasn't that original. In my opinion, it borrows too much from VI and I don't mean the old bad guy appears, party goes to their lair and defeats them + love story somewhere, etc formula. Off the top, I can remember (I knows there's more, I just can't remember them right now):

The party start the game fighting an evil corporation but then find out that the real threat is what turns out to be the main villain. VI with The Empire then Kefka, VII with Shinra then Sephiroth and Jenova.

The main female character (or in VII's case, one of them) is half Human and half something else. Terra being half Human and half Esper and Aeris being half Human and half Ancient/Cetra.

The main villain is driven insane by an experiment. Kefka with the Magic infusing experiment and Sephiroth when finding out about the experiment that created him.

The main villain kills one of the characters. Kefka with General Leo (yes, I know he isn't exactly a main character since he isn't part of the party, but he's still pretty important) and Sephiroth/Jenova with Aeris.

When the Weapons are released in VII, it's much like the eight Dragons and DoomGaze in VI.

Character Development/Background - Too much development was focused on Cloud and the rest suffered.

Cloud had all the stuff in the lifestream, the flashback, finding out his true past, etc.

Aeris had a small amount of background where we found out what she was and her past with Tseng and of course what happens at the end of disc one.

Tifa had her past stuff with Cloud.

Barret had his hometown, Corel.

Cid had Rocket Town, going into space and Shera.

Red XIII had the stuff with Cosmo Canyon and his father, Seto.

All Vincent had was a scene in Lucretia's cave.

Yuffie just had the Wutai sidequest.

And all we get with Cait Sith the fact that he's Reeve, a member of Shinra.

Linearity - There is honestly not a whole lot you can do with the storyline other than what if forces you to do.

That's all I can think of right now.

You nkow Palazzo, considering it seems you like FF6, I'd think all those things that 7 has similar to it would make you like FF7 more. *shrug* logic just must not be your forte.

Things I disliked...the blocky design of the sprites really. It's clear from the battle sprites they could've done a hell of a lot better. but then production was apprently rushed so, eh well. That and you cna;t expect the same graphics on an engine like the PSone that you have now with the PS2...thats just ridiculous.

Anything else I disliked? Bad translations at some points...ahh the famous 'These guy are sick'...Aeris, when will you learn to stop speaking getto.

If similar meant "the same as" then yes, I would.

Similar is the same as 'like and as' you get a dictionary yourself my brother. So why do you dislike it then? That still hasn;t been explained.

I was upset about the Vincent/Lucrecia part as well. It was kind of like "der.. that's it?" -- I was expecting more since I never completed this part the first time I beat the game...and when I heard about this I was like.. bleh, just got Vincent's level 4 limit and ultimate weapon.
