Hehe, well I've only seen 8 episodes, but...
I recommend people to see beck of you are into music. It's a really unique anime, cuz the characters sing in English. BECK

I would recomend
Speed Grapher X/1999 Escaflowne Witch Hunter Robin Evangelion Full Metal Alchemist Kenshin(mostly OVA) All of them have dark elementes, are deep and make you to think. The characters are interesting, developing during the suries and realistic enough to understand their motives. I recommend Elfen Lied! It's probably one of the most enjoyable animes I've watched. So much nudity and gore =.=; Ah, definitley not suitable for youngsters.

For my recommendation, I will continue my unwavering support of Gensomaden Saiyuki and it's successors, Reload and Reaload Gunlock. Truely the most realistic character interaction I've ever seen. A surprisingly good plot as well for something so simple.
