An unusual thought...

Now before reading this all you mods and admins and sceptics, i wouldn't normally believe this myself, and I'd scrub it off my shoulder as a scam, so to clarify a few things ...

1 - This was not a chain mail sent to many people, but through a friend in the UK told me about the appeal as he has met these people and
2 - The appeal is totally genuine, so please DO NOT delete the thread in thought that it's some kind of scam. I myself wouldn't scam somebody on the topic at hand as some close relatives have been in similar situations.

So anyway, please read this, and at least read the information on the site and show moral support, even if you cannot donate anything to the cause.

Hi,

I am contacting you to ask a huge huge huge favour.

I've been with my partner Su for 4 years and we've been living together in our new house for 10 months. We were just starting out together. We had planned to get married this year.

Just before Christmas, Su was diagnosed with cancer in her colon. This month, she was diagnosed with advanced cancer in her liver.

Things are very serious and life-threatening.

Standard chemotherapy will simply not work on her: the cancer is too far advanced. Her only hope is a brand new treatment known as Avastin, which is not yet available on the NHS, as it is not yet approved for use. It has not even completed its trial stage.

We can only receive this treatment by paying for it privately. To enable Su to receive this treatment, we have to find £40000 by March 15th.

Our families are currently re-mortgaging their houses, raiding their bank accounts and screwing every last penny from their life-savings. Yet we are still far from the needed amount.

I have set up a fund-raising website at http://www.weneedyounow.com or http://www.davewoodley.co.uk/weneedyounow/ to try to raise a bit more cash. All I need is people with a £1 coin and a heart.

Regards,

Dave Woodley.
I know this may seem like some kind of scam, but please at least give it some thought, because the appeal has been going for some time AND recieved press coverage through it's local area. It is an urgent appeal as such, but on contacting them, they almost have the money they need right now, but anything extra donated will help towards looking after the family as well as paying for the treatment. Thanks for listening guys, I know a lot of you here are at least going to give support by some means, be it prayer or donations or just hoping for the best.

JK

Wow, if that's true, it's sad. And not in a lame way.

I've had emails like this sent to me. One was about a baby who had been caught in a fire and the whole side of her face was burnt -- there was a very disturbing image enclosed with the email, but since I had received it without knowing who this person was, I thought it was a scam and deleted it. I'm not sure what to think about this one though. If it's genuine, then I hope they get the amount of money needed for the treatment.

...It's a sad matter, but a lot of people diagnosed with severe cancer and beat it, usually get it back within the 10 year mark. Believe me, I've known many women with breast cancer, as I used to visit cancer patients, slowly they deteriated and died. It's a sad business.

I'm not saying it'll happen to her should she get the treatment, but there's always the percentage of people that do. It's sad.
