The Friggen' Oscars!

So, did any of you guys watch the Oscars? What did you think? Anything make you particularly happy/angry/indifferent? For me, most of the night was indifference. I was rooting for King Kong to win anything it was nominated for; I hadn't realized that it got snubbed for best director/best picture. I wasn't surprised that it didn't get nominated for any acting parts, as per the Oscars snubbed all the actors from Return of the King (although I suppose it won enough awards without those anyway, eh? )

I was going to go directly to best picture, but my brother just reminded me of the song "It's Hard Out Here For a Pimp." He was singing it again (he kept on singing it while were walking around last night, too). Then he also added "Martin Scorsese 0, Three-Six Mafia 1." "They're the most excited people here. How does that happen?" I think maybe the Crash song was better, though. This reminds me of when Eminem won, too. I wasn't expecting it this time around, actually, although I was thinking "that would be funny if that happened." And then it happened.

My brother keeps on distracting me from what I'm writing about, and bringing up a different topic. Now he has reminded me of John Stuart. And Ben Stiller now (that was awesome. "This is blowin' Spielberg's mind!" "For the first time, an Oscar will be given by... no one!" Ha, he was pretty funny.) George Clooney was awesome, too. But anyway, John Stuart. I thought he did a really good job hosting. I don't generally watch the Daily Show, or laugh at it when I do, but I laughed at Stuart last night. And then there was Will Ferrel Steve Carrell.... okay, how about we do this. There were a lot of funny presenters last night. Now hush, brother.

Anyway, my favorite part was when Crash won best picture. I wasn't particularly expecting that at all. Neither was Jack Nichelson, apparently. Not that I didn't like the other movies; I hadn't actually seen any of the other ones. But Crash was a really good movie, with a message of "you don't know what you'd do until you're put in that particular situation." It was moving in parts, and it was really entertaining over all. My brother said it was the best movie out of those, though. He thought Munich was the second best, and then Brokeback Mountain third. (He saw them all.) Crash was number 2 in his top 40 list of last year (he sees a lot of movies) Munich was 10, and Brokeback was 20. King Kong was also #3 (I think I like it better than Crash, though.) He mentions it because of all the technical stuff it was nominated for.

Anyway, I don't remember the majority of everything else. I just liked that Crash shocked Hollywood. My brother said last night that that was one of the biggest shockers in Oscar history, or something. Sorry, Jake Gyllenhaal.

Yeah, I had hoped Bareback Mounted would be passed over, and it was. It may have been a decent, even good, movie (though I didn't see it), but being about queer cowboys doesn't make it any more deserving of an award.

I haven't seen many movies recently, actually. This past movie season didn't seem very good, and I don't know why.

I didn't really watch it, I had it on in my room and everytime I heard them give out an award it was 'for Brokeback Mountain'. I haven't even seen it...don't know if I want to lol. I'm not a fan of Heath Ledger. Is it any good? I noticed Reese Witherspoon got an award for 'Walk the Line' which was good, I haven't seen that either but I would like to lol. I didn't see much of it, I forgot it was on actually. Oops.
