Just got cloud

Why is cloud so weak? I got his materia blade and got his first 3 limit breaks down, but he doesn't do that much damage. I got him up to level 15 and he still sucks.

Hmm.. Level 15 you say? Wow.. that's a weak level. Try getting him to say.. the same level as the rest of your party? Yeah...
My Cloud is about level 45.. and he's kick ass.

Right, I'm pretty sure he'll be quite strong at level 45. But does he really need the materia blade?

Well.. yes. That's the only weapon he can use to use his "Limit" skills. If you don't care to use those skills, then you can use any blade you want.

Sucks, I know.

The materia blade has crappy WP, but that really doesn't matter. Cloud's Limits all do either fixed damage, cause status, or do damage proportional to his MA. The only time the WP of his weapon matters is if you actually try to hit something physically.

I know he sucks when you first get him. Wait until he's moreorless the level of the rest of your party, or else wait until he learns Finishing Touch, and then his level really ceases to matter because he kills stuff every turn anyway.

Can you use the two sword ability? So that he can equip the materia blade and some other strong sword.

But anyway, Cloud is level 45 or so, and the rest of my party is in their late 50s. Heh. It's not that I don't like leveling, it's that I've beaten the game already and haven't played it in ages. I just have to do that bonus dungeon and that's it.

And besides. The monsters level up with you. =P Why have 93 monsters? >.>

Well the reply in your user notes saying "Nice faking people out saying you're a girl when you're really a guy. Still dunno why you want huge boobs"( well maybe it was just a joke done by that person) anyway. Well I like a good challenge so I enjoy leveling up to high levels. If you were to check my status in my RPG games, you would notice I’m like a walking god.

Well, It may effect his use of limit skills. Anyway what kind of jobs do you prefer cloud to have? What kind of sets?

Hmm... I don't use specials, but if I did I'd make Cloud a Geomancer. This allows him to equip his Materia Blade with no problem, and has a few nice advantages over Soldier

1) Can equip shields. Shields rock.
2) Better class MA, I think. And we know that all of Cloud's limits are MA-based.
3) 4 Move instead of 3. Although I forget, Soldier may get this too.
4) A skillset full of fast actions (which Limit is not) that hit at long range (which Limit often doesn't).

Give him Short Charge as a support ability to make his higher end Limits usable, the rest is really up to you.

Edit: Handing Cloud a second weapon won't prevent him from using Limit, btw. The only rule is that he has to have the blade equipped, not that he can't have something else too. However, a second weapon doesn't enhance the effects of Limit at all, so I think it'd be much more effective to hand him Short Charge and a decent shield.
