Cradle Of Filth
Well here it’s Cradle Of Filth, they are my favorite black metal band. And they are not like those wanna-bees that just scream with lyrics the suck. They are the ****ING real deal.
Here’s there Biography: British black metal band Cradle of Filth was formed in 1991, originally comprising vocalist Dani Davey, guitarist Paul Ryan, his keyboardist brother Benjamin, bassist John Richard, and drummer Darren. After recording a demo dubbed Invoking the Unclean a year later, the group recruited guitarist Robin Eaglestone, who quit soon after recording a second demo, Orgiastic Pleasures; however, when Richard exited the band a short time later, Eaglestone stepped back in to assume bass duties, opening the door for guitarist Paul Allender. Following a third demo, Total ****ing Darkness, Cradle of Filth -- now with new drummer Nicholas Barker -- signed with the Cacophonous label, issuing their proper debut, The Principle of Evil Made Flesh, in mid-1994. The lineup changes continued when the Ryan brothers both departed to form the Blood Divine (and Allender left as well), making room for guitarists Stuart Antsis and Jared Demeter and keyboardist Damien Gregori to debut on the 1996 mini-LP Vempire or Dark Faerytales in Phallustein. For the full-length Dusk and Her Embrace later that same year, Gian Pyres took Demeter's spot, and afterward, Gregori was replaced by keyboardist Les Smith; at any rate, the album substantially expanded the group's growing cult following. Cradle of Filth's next effort, Cruelty and the Beast, appeared in 1998, amid the group's steadily growing reputation for elaborate Alice Cooper/Marilyn Manson-style concert theatrics. Two years later the group returned with From the Cradle to Enslave, an EP that featured new drummer Adrian Erlandsson (formerly of Sweden's At the Gates and the Haunted), as Barker had departed to join Dimmu Borgir. The band's dizzying lineup changes continued apace as Paul Allender rejoined the group and Martin Powell (ex-Anathema and My Dying Bride) replaced Smith on keyboards for the full-length Midian, which was appropriately released on Halloween 2000. Bitter Suites to Succubi was issued on Spitfire in summer 2001. ~ Jason Ankeny, All Music Guide And here’s the link to there newest CD. http://www.ravenofchaos.dajoob.com/ Note: This is a tread about Cradle of Filth, you can all kill each other arguing as long at it has something to do with the band. Well, I do have a good reason, to actually disprove you on a few matters.

There is a major difference between Gothic rock, and Gothic metal, so eh. Another null and void section. Anyways. A horrible ****ing band. They are derivitive in every way possible, and use shock value to sell their music. You know, I finally ****ing realized why I hate their fans so much. They buy into everything. They think they are cool by liking a band that "no one knows of" but in reality, they don't realize that EVERYONE IN THE ****ING WORLD knows of them. It's amuzing though, that these people think they have good taste in music, but really don't. Another common thing I have found in their behaviour and being, is that none of them can properly defend the music other than with "OMG YOU SUCK COF RULE **** OFF" or "You are gay." It's fun to **** with them because they are so damned easy to pick off. I just hope each one of them comes across a ****ing gun, and accidently shoots themselves in the head. They all need to hurry the **** up on that.

All of my comments would be almost identical to Davids, so I wont dawdle.
The FEW good things about Cradle Of Filth - Vempire was ok - They helped increase awareness of the almighty EMPEROR by having them as a support on one of their tours - When their fans grow up, they discover good black metal |

I'm more of a fan of their older stuff, personally. I didn't care much for Nymphetamine or Damnation and a Day, either.
I think my favorite song by them is the most underrated, which is Sodomy and Lust.

If you don't like a certain kind of music, that fails to demonstrate anything on the lines of intellegence or agenda. It just means you have an opinion. Fancy that, everyone else does too. Yours is special how now?
(Though I must admit just listing the tracks off their latest album is a bit silly. They do have better songs than just those off of that particular CD) Anyways, to the person that said they were gothic metal, last I checked such a genre isn't exactly in existance. What they ARE is Black Metal...which yes is different from Heavy Metal and Death Metal, and certainly a far cry from Grindcore, but if there's such a thing as Goth Metal I'd like to see other examples. I'm not defending their music, and certainly not their vocals. Some people don't like constant drum and guitar riffs, nor the intermingling of classically trained operetic singing with high pitch screeching and low gutteral growls. Frankly, though, when compared to some other Death and Black metal I've heard I CAN actually make out what they're saying half the time. For me thats a plus. I enjoy Cradle of Filth and especially the album Damnation and a Day. There are many tracks from their older works that I enjoy and yes, I do own a Cradle T-shirt. OMG the world shall end now because I have gone coorporate. *sigh* I like them because they mesh neo-classical stylings with black metal themes. I know thats not exactly uncommon, but thus far they've been the best at it. There is better music out there yes. Your point?

That is a point. I was under the impression that The Cure was Emo or Alternative rock if anything. Lets try to keep our stereotypes straight, shall we?
Last I checked all TRUE Goths listened to was Opera and shat bats out of their arse. It's true.

You and your humongous post missed the entire point. See another thread to see Len's lack of intelligence. And by agenda I mean that me and David dont like Cradle Of Filth because we dont like Cradle of Filth, and not because Len thinks we dont like them just because he does. They have consistently done albums I dont like, throughout their career, but they ARE good musicians, Dani Filth DOES write some good lyrics when he tries, and they do have the occasional good song. |
