| Final Fantasy I+II The first two titles that started it all have been made and remade for several systems from the NES to the PSP. Talk about any iteration of these two titles here. |

I think the best lineup is
1. Warrior/Knight, because he can use almost every weapon and get HP really fast. 2. Monk/Master, because he hit really hard on higher levels (on lvl 7 he hits more without weapons than with weapons) 3. White Mage/White Wizard, because some body has to heal party 4. Black Mage/ Black Wizard, because he can cast haste (doubles attacks) and temper (raise damage). With these every boss is easy... Knight: just hits Master : just hits White Wizard : cast Protera, cast Invisira and then cast all the time Healaga(Heal3) Black Wizard : cast Haste to Master and then only cast Temper all the time to Master (I got Master hit almost 6000 ). |

I believe the generally accepted "best" party in this game is Fighter/<anything>/WhiteMage/BlackMage. Nothing beats a Fighter in terms of soaking up hits for your party, the WhiteMage is necessary for healing, and the BlackMage isn't that good overall but saves your butt in battles that either a) have 9 enemies (because BM is the only class that can attack multiple enemies at once) or b) have enemies with high physical defense (because if you don't have a BM for those battles, you just have to turn and run). If you've got those three, then it really doesn't matter what your fourth is; you can even use a Thief and get through the game without too much trouble.
When I played through first time, I used the above party (with Thief as my "anything") and didn't have too much trouble. If I go through again, I think I might go with Fighter/BlackBelt/WhiteMage/WhiteMage though. My friend told me that Thieves were simply bad, and while I didn't believe him at the time (I figured Ninjas had to be worth it... they're not) I've come to see what he was talking about. RedMages are nice early on, but I just dislike them in general because they get worse with time, and BlackMages... well, as I described above, they're lifesavers in certain situations. However, the rest of the time, they sit around poking things with their little knife and dying a lot and being fairly useless. It's like a big cannon that gets about 5 shots before you have to reload it at an inn, and that just doesn't suit my play style. And before anybody says anything, this strategy is made for NES or PS FF1. I realize GBA is different, but I have objections to Dawn of Souls and choose not to play it. |

Warrior, Red Mage, White Mage, Monk. I'd really like to be able to play as a thief but I'll settle. Still I like the light amount of magic either way, 1 heavy one for healing, an intense fighter and another strong warrior but with swords. I like it alot.

From the consensus of this question many times being asked and from what an old guide told me. The best group has always been the classic:
Figher Black Belt White Mage Black Mage You have two fantastic attackers, and the Fighter will get secondary White Magic later to aid in healing after or within battles. You have the Black Belt who can constantly attack. The White Mage who will constantly heal and protect. N' a Black Mage who will cast Fast on the Warriors to make them do more damage and blast the monsters with whatever elemental they are weak against. It's simply the most balanced group and I think the most effective.

Best Line Up
I never really had a personal favorite lineup, I went the other way and tried to see how hard I could make it on myself to play. I went through the whole game with one fighter. (I killed off the other 3 before I started anything) That was the most challenging pain in the ass that I put up with. But for my favorite, I'd say 2 fighters and 2 black belts. I know this is awkward and frustrating until you gain some levels, but after about level 8 or so, your fighters will take all the hits and eventually the black belts will do more damage with their fists than the fighters can with their swords. (I have seen hits as high as 3000 damage from one Master attack!)

red mages are completely useless at the end of the game. they can't learn black wizard spells, and their melee is weak at best. the monk is really overpowering at the end of the game, but i prefer the classic
Warrior Thief White Mage Black Mage it's just so... pleasing to the eye - and ninjas kick ass later on

On the Origins version I used Fighter x 2, Monk and White mage, I got through it fairly easy but I would of prefered the Black mage over 2 fighters, 9 enemies got really tedious, so:
Fighter Black Mage Monk White Mage |

We've come to the conclusion that:
1. MUST BE FIGHTER 2. ANYTHING 3. MUST BE WHITE MAGE 4. BLACK MAGE. HANDS DOWN. I tried an "all swords" approach, but the Red Mage sucks later in the game (and the attacks aren't great enough to matter terribly much), the Thief turned Ninja gets a little magic but that's kinda useless, and his attacks are lame as well; Fighter is of course the best choice for weapon based damage. I've found time and again that, hands down, the monk is more capable of dealing damage, and, when you take his armor off, soaking it up. He's also the cheapest class: you're better off buying nothing for him, since around level 3 or 4 he begins dealing more damage barehanded and his defense is higher whilst wearing nothing. |

I use the team. Knight, monk, Black mage, white mage.
That team seems to go ok but not great.
