Did anyone notice (spoilers)

I was wondering if any one notice the reference to final fantasy II in the game. For those of you who didn't when (spoilers)

you are given the quest by rahmuh to put the story together in the correct order the story was actually something that had happened in final fantasy II.

Yeah, that was pretty cool!
How about when Zidane makes a quick reference to Cloud, that was cool too.

There are loads of references from other Final Fantasy games in there, which is quite neat. There is also quotes from other square games too... when i remember them i'll repost them but my mind has gone Blank!

If you buy the Doga's Artifact and Une's Mirror items from the Treno Auction House and then use them on the record player located in the Black Mage Village Inn you can hear a song from Final Fantasy III

The ending also makes a refurance to Cloud and Squall too, and the Swords in the weapon shop in lindblum, Zidane refers to cloud too, wow so many referances, probarly because ff9 is the last final fantasy game for the playstation so they are representing all the great final fantasy games squaresoft made over the years. Thats what i think.

That was the music that plays in the backround for Junon.
Also, I noticed musical pieces that are based off each other. You know, like that town with the cropcircles is just a more peaceful version of the Garden theme.

Yeah I loved it in the end when Zidane says:
"No Cloud or Squall shall stop me!"

(right before he trows off the cape and shows to Garnet hes still alive and cares about her :d)

Actually you'd be surprised at how much of the music, storyline, summons, and such are related to FF6. In fact it seems to me they used the same art style on both games as to more cartoonish looking figures. Though of course both are much different stories, I still find 6 and 9 closely related for some reason.

This is probably one of the most missed references...

In Lindlum's district with all the stores (where Steiner eats one of Grandma's pickles in an A.T.E.), there is a shop called "Palom's milk store," or something like that.

Palom was the apprentice Black Mage from Final Fantasy IV.

Consider this. FFVI was the "start" of a mechanical age. The progression of such an age can be seen through FFVII and FFVIII alike. FFIX went "back to the roots of Final Fantasy," almost to a pre-FFVI era. While the stories themselves aren't necessarily linked, this is why many similarities between nine and six can be found.

And yes, nine does reference many of the other games. It relies heavily on humor and irony, which is lighthearted compared to some of the other Final Fantasy titles. As such, what better game to throw in some parodies of the other titles?
