I have been wondering about something. As you know, the most used nuts in FFVII for Chocobo breeding are Carob and Zeio. But, what are the other nuts used for? Do they have any purpose whatsoever?

This is something I had to look up, as I couldn't remember. So I checked my two book strategy guides and I read in the versus one that it states that you need the Zeio Nut for the Gold Chocobo, the Carob Nut for a River or a Mountain Chocobo.

The only time the other nuts are useful at all, and they aren't really, but when you are breeding to get a River/Mountain(Black) Chocobo you can use any nut in the game, it doesn't matter. So there really is no point to them, probably lower quality nuts and the chances of getting the Black Chocobo are high even with statistically weak parents.

How do you use Nuts? I still dont know how to breed a Chocobo

First, you need to buy stables by talking to the little boy in the barn. Then you need to catch two chocobos that are the opposite sex. You then go back to the barn and talk to the boy again, pick the chocobos you want to breed, then pick a nut. Congratulations you have just breeded a chocobo.

Yes, but when I come to that little boy there is no talk about hiring stables. What little boy you exactly mean?

I think it also depends on how far you are in the game. How far are you Gargo?

I'm assuming you haven't been to Gaea's Cliff yet? If you haven't been to Gaea's Cliff you have a while to go before you can do chocobo breeding.

You use the carbvo and zeo when breeding to make a river or mountain chocobo the other nuts are useless to get the carbo and zeo nuts you have to go to one of the forest and encounter a goblin when you defat it you will get a carbo nut if you do not get one the first try keep fighting the goblins and you will eventually get one or 2.
