The Ultimate 2CD Game Soundtrack!!

First of all, I know this is seems a bit the same as the Top 10 soundtrack thread, but I just need help on this.

I've started a project to convince non-gamers how potential game music is. For me to do this, I'm arranging a 2CD soundtrack with the best game songs and the most typical ones.

Here is a rough list of current ideas:

- Super Mario Theme
- Legend of Zelda Theme
- Final Fantasy Theme
- Metal Gear Solid Theme
- Terranigma Theme
- Fire Emblem Theme
- Halo 1: One of the opening suites
- Halo 2: Earth City
- Tekken ~ Still deciding
- Street Fighter ~ Ken Stage/Ryu Stage

Those are just a few games I want to cover. I need help to make the soundtrack something very nice. And it's rather hard to do it by myself.

So, any suggestions on good songs are welcome. Please, if you can, redirect me to that particular song.

Final Fantasy VII - Aeris theme should not be missed. If you ask me, it represents the beauty of RP music. You should also get some of Motoi Sakuraba works (Golden Sun, Tales of Symphonia, Star Ocean 3 etc). And the Metal Gear Solid 2 theme is better then the Metal Gear Solid theme, so Mayb you should switch those. Or I may be wrong, MGS 1 and 2 could have the same theme =/

ROFL, as much as I love the idea dude there are WAY too many awesome game songs out there to be put onto two CDs. IMO you should make Volumes instead of sets. Like old-school NES volumes of all the music we loved from FF, Zelda, even Mario. And then a Final Fantasy volume of "Greatest Hits". But no way can this be done in just 2CDs.

zelda, final fantasy, mario..zzz...zzz...zzz.... yeah these games have great soundtracks but there are so many others

namely phantasy star online vol. 1's music is ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE. "mother earth of dishonesty pt. 1", or the forest level music, is amongst my favorite ambient tracks.

Okay...I don't quite agree that the songs can't be put on 2CD's. Well I partially don't agree I'm making the CD's to convince, not to make the Greatest Game Soundtrack evah!!!11!1

That would be indeed impossible. There are just too much good songs out there.
Anyway, I've come up with some new ideas:

- Yoshi's Island Theme
- Fable ~ Oakvale
- Secret of Mana ~ Star of Darkness (Hard to find a good arranged version though...)
- Tekken 2 ~ Be in the Mirror (a.k.a. Devil Theme)
- Resident Evil 2 ~ Secure Place

I really, REALLY need some help on which FF themes I'm going to have to use. Because I want to limit the songs for each game/series to two. So...HELP ME OUT...!!

Go poke around Loco's top game music thread. It is under a similar critera, so you can probably find most of your answers there. It is all bia to the person, but so are the opinions here, so you might disagree with their picks, but there is a enough there that maybe you find one that you do agree with. I like the vocals from FF, but that is just me. Though I do love Zanarkand, Black Mage Village, The Man with the Machine Gun, and one other played in FFIX during the duel in the play. Flamingo or something like.

If I might make a suggestion, 1000 Words from Final Fantasy X-2. Also, perhaps the Battle Theme from Xenosaga Episode One. It is a song that has fast upbeat parts and flowing parts combined into one.
