Live Action EVA news-Delayed but lookin good?

I just went to Anime Allience (Look down on the main Forum page) and I found something astounding:

The live action Evangelion project is indeed underway and being made as a movie. Here is the article (edited for grammar and spelling-I can't help it, I'm neurotic!):

Neon Genesis EvanGelion (Live Action Movie!)
(Weta) has been designing a live-action adaptation of Neon Genesis: Evangelion. The film is on hold but it is Weta’s hope that it will enjoy getting to work on the film production of this amazing story in the near future.

EVA the Film is Under Development right now.

What’s cool about the film is that the people that did the special effects on Hellboy, Van Helsing, King kong & “The Lord Of The Ring’s. WOW, If you seen the Lord of The Ring’s and the othere movie’s then the special effects will be really really cool.

Yeah it has been sitting around for a while, they just been doing a lot of artwork and design. Though a rumor is that Peter Jackson wants to direct the movie, but since he was working on King Kong at the time, he was not allowed out of his contract. With it completed, if this is true, he is probably going straight over to work on it. I should be an impressive movie if Peter Jackson actually does work on it.

I love the anime but I heard Hillary Duff might get one of these parts and I REALLY hope that it is just a rumor because that would ruin the movie for me entirely since I hate shitty actors/actresses turned pop star. Other than that hooray!

She better not, she would just ruin it. You need actually good teen actors, not horrible teen actors. EVA is a teen drama almost, very angsty, so you need people that can act, and if they cannot act this is will be a very horrible movie. The whole movie will ride on the fact if they can act or not.

it would be best to use mostly no-name/not very big actors. that's what made lord of the rings so great - there were a handful of more recognizable actors, but people like viggo mortensen, orlando bloom, billy boyd, etc. were either lesser known or complete unknowns. it helped you to get into the character more than the actor playing them. if the rumors about petter jackson wanting to do it are true then i don't think we have anything to worry about. he knows how to cast a movie. also, if the rumors about peter jackson wanting to do it are true, we're in for the greatest anime/live action crossover ever conceived.

I would highly agree. I will also say that the original Star Wars trilogy generally used unknowns. I would sort of disagree on the Hilary Duff. You judge her on her comedy, which I thought she did rather well for what it was. I have definently seen worst comedy series that didn't deserve the popularity it got/is getting. *Cough*SpongeBob*Cough* I think if she didn't over do it, she would make a really good Asuka.... if she learned how to fake a German accent decently.

Please don't hurt me....

Also: It would be highly ironic and funny if they had some of the voice cast such as Tiffany Grant take a moot speaking role in the original voice. Fans will get it, though newcomers would definently feel their eyes glaze over and go 'huh?'

Oh, wouldn't be classic if they used Spike Spencer's voice for the whole "I musn't run away" bit or perhaps all that EoE-style moaning and bitching, "Asuka, please help me," or "I'm a horrible person, I killed Koaru, I did something terrible to Asuka" or whatever.

I just hope they don't cast a major overly emotional dope as Gendo. Whoever it is better be one bad ass kaniving prick.

That dude who played Doctor Doom in the Fantasic 4 movie would be a decent pic for that job, just if his acting plays a bit more harsh and rougher then it would probably be perfect.

so that should be good but
they need god actors
idk imreally excited but also im afraid there gonnamess upone of the better animes
even though they messed it up when they dubed it and but it on adult swim

if FOX or WB was doing it, i'd be worried - but this is WETA here, working outside the lame ass Hollywood system. if and when this movie gets made, i guarantee that it surpasses everyone's expectations.

BTW - doing it in 3 hours would be kinda rough, it would be hard to please the hardcore fans due to massive story editing - has anyone considered... what if they made a trilogy???? O_O i'm really getting extremely ahead of myself, but this thought just made my heart stop.
