Bazil

i think it is the most interesting british film of the 70's but what makes it so interesting is the ending and the ending is a man imgining bazil but the man is a chair and locked inside a chamber.

Bazil? From your description you must be talking about the film called Brazil, which was made in the 1980s, I believe - 1984 or 1985.

I found the film to be far more interesting than the ending alone. All throughout the film are satirical attacks at what society could be like in the future: where no-one cares about anything which doesn't affect them, narrow mindsets controlled by all the TV the nation watches, a very large police state and the wasteful bureaucracy that occurs.

What I do like is the film comes across initially as a comedy yet carries a sinister undertone. These instances are obvious throughout.

As for the name Brazil, the reference is clearly from the music that Sam is listening to on his way to Mrs. Buttle's apartment but as for any significance or meaning, I'm not sure. It's a strange film, but one that I found highly enjoyable to watch.
