Disney buys Pixar; Pixar to take over Disney Animation Division

http://www.animated-news.com/archives/00004450.html

Now I added important information in the title because so many people see "Disney buys Pixar" and thinks "OMG! Disney is TEH eveil, that means we'll just see crappy Pixar movies now!"

Pixar's Ed Catmull will become president of the combined Pixar and Disney animation studios and John Lasseter will be Chief Creative Officer of the animation studios, as well as Principal Creative Advisor at Walt Disney Imagineering.

If you don't know who John Lasseter is. Let me fill you in. He's practically the creator of Toy Story. He's also close friends with Hayao Miyazaki and was responsible for bringing a lot of his films over to the US. HE'S going to be calling the shots now as far as what's being made by Disney animation. You'd have to be a total douche to not realize that's a good thing.

EDIT: Can someone edit my topic title, I'm wearing a brace so it's kind of hard to type.

Yeah, I heard about that, and I changed the title. ^^
I'm anxious to see what kind of new films we'll see. =D

As long as Disney's evilness doesn't overpower Pixar's creativity, then I am cool with it. IMO Disney has gone downhill so much since good ol' Walt died. If he were to come back to life I think he would die of a heartattack after seeing what has become of his company.

I love Pixar and how creative they are with their films. They never really conformed to the way animation is done today. They set the standard with their movies and then re-define the standard with the next.

Even if Pixar's president and Chief Creative Officer are in charge of Disney's animaton that doesn't mean that they won't get told to make crappy films by the Disney higher-ups.

Pixar is great. I just hope disney
doesn't rely too much on the CG movies.

I kinda miss the cartoon movie style.
Dang, I almost said "old school" cartoon movie style...
cuz it's been a while... :/

There's been some friction between Pixar and Disney for quite a while, and this seems like it's finally settled now. Caught in the middle of the friction was Toy Story 3, which is now cancelled according to my sources. Atleast for now anyway.

Disney and Pixar has a huge split up, and Disney were about to tackle TS3 on their own.

It's good to see the gap now seperated though.

Hopefully Disney will start to shy away from making spin-offs of every other success they've had. The world only needs one Beauty and the Beast! Pixar has done nothing but great work in the past, and we'll be sure to see some great G rated animation in the next few years because of this merging.
