kickass bands.

anyone ever tried:

at the drive-in
mogwai
godspeed you! black emperor
mew
the mars volta

*very differing bands regarding style and music.

now for the awesomenes of old school:

King crimson
rush
yes

anyone?

is just that, generally, ff fans have a certain attachment to metal, and I just wanted to know if any of you have tried other, or maybe just derivative, genres?

opinions...

The Sailing is a n00b - (lv 0)
Godspeed You Black Emperor! ****ing owns! And Mogwai is pretty badass too. Oh, my God, you don't know how happy I am to find someone in these forums that listens to at least halfway decent music. No offense to the metal-heads, because I have mad respect for metal (and them) too, but it isn't exactly where my heart lies.

I'm not a fan of At The Drive In or their offshoots, Sparta and The Mars Volta. It's just not really my cup of tea. And, I've never heard of Mew.

As far as the old-school stuff goes, Geddy Lee's voice is a bit too much for me, as is Yes' lead singer (whose name escapes me at the moment) but King Crimson is cool. I'm not, like, a huge prog-rock fan, but I give all those musicians mad props.

Hey, if you like some of those bands, you might be interested in mine and postalblowfish7's (who also posts here) band. We're called The Sailing (hence my name) and you can check us out on Myspace at myspace.com/thesailing. [/SHAMELESS PLUG]
