Alright. I've made this thread in hope to see which game people say is better: FFVI or FFVII. In here, we'll discuss the games and compare them. It's hard to do so, seeing personal opinion is in the way a lot.
Please come with good arguments if you want to convince others. I think FFVII is the more better game. Why you ask? Well, why don't you start asking?!?! ![]() |

I like FF VI more than FF VII.
In FF VI is more charchesters and you can play with three party(almost) same time. In FF VII you have only 8 charchesters and only one party. FF VII is also pretty easy. In FF VI you have more challenges than in FF VII. So I prefer VI !! <=)

Okey
Try to beat Kefka´s tower with under 50 levels characters with 0 MP and without any good weapons and espers. And map in world of ruin is more complicated. In FF VII map is very easy to learn. Also FF VII have to little bit really and I really mean good bosses. And FF VI bestisary is more versatile. Enought? >=) |

FFVII has much more interesting challenges. Any yeah, FFVII doesn't have a lot of good bosses. But for that matter, neither does FFVI. Maybe a bit more than FFVII, but not much. The World of Ruin might be different and difficult, but, what is there to do? All you have is the Coliseum...FFVII has Golden Saucer!! So, touché!! |

Okey you win this.
But I think that FF VI is still better than FF VII. Ps. One of my friends also like FF VII more than FF VI and we have lots of battle about this thing. I usually win that fight but this time you were better. I have admit that but we can continue this argument. It is up to you. |

Well I would. the thing is I've been dying for good arguments against FFVII, so I'm waiting to hear people reply.
To give them some material I'll say this: FFVI is too short. And the PSX version, THAT is easy. I cleared it with Terra as my strongest character at I think Lv. 51. Kefka didn't even get a turn... Now, how is that for easy? |

This coming from the guy who never played FFVI, only my INCOMPLETE FFT-styled hack of it. I WILL admit there is more to FFVII like Mini-games (Gold Saucer) and Challanges (Weapon fights). But I still think FFVI had way more interesting characters, not to mention pure number. You could simply say FFVI rules because it has more characters. And then on top of that you have the individual abilities per character while you could just equip Materia on FFVII characters and have practically the same party, the only distinquishing trait being Limit Breaks which are just fancy attacks that do more damage. Plus let's not forget Uematsu's FFVI score is still considered his best. I mean do you REALLY remember themes outside the likes of Aeris or One Winged Angel (and some of the others on a 4 Disc soundtrack)? I could probably barely remember 1 disc's worth. Not to say it's bad, just not memorable. Oh and for the record, Sephy is overrated. |

FFVII can easily top that. The Golden Chocobo sidequest alone can make FFVII a lot longer than FFVI. Quote:
Yes, the Materia system messes with the character originality. But they are all different in the view of stats and...yeah so are the ones from FFVI I DO like the variety of characters in FFVI, it makes the game more fun. Also, the FFVII soundtrack wasn't good on its own, but knew how to mix well with the ambience of the game. Through the whole game, the world is just rotting, and seems as if it will end soon. So, of course, the music should reflect that. The FFVI music has some rather good tracks, but then again, so does every FF. I personally don't see it as Uematsu's best work. The FFIX soundtrack would have the honor in my perspective. Sephiroth IS and will STAY the best villain of all RPG's. He is not overrated, because he shows his pure evil. Behind this all is the love for his mother, which he tries to bring back and punish all who did her wrong. In a way, he's being just. But only in his sick, world-destroying way. And also the final fight with him was just amazing. The concept of Supernova was very very cool, Kefka doesn't have anything that can compare with that. So, no, Sephiroth isn't at all overrated. I think you just said that as a joke ![]() Last edited by King Fenii; 01-10-2006 at 11:42 AM. |

Y'know, I've been thinking the same thing, Inferno...
'Cept, I'm thinking a little different.. FFVII IS THE BEST! You do know that FFVI will win in this fight... it probably always will... and there is no reason for that. There are some people, who argue against FFVII for stupid reasons. But there are good reasons, too. Yes, FFVII has some problems a. Characters can be the same b. Lower number of characters (personally, I think that is crap...how many characters do you get in FFI...Four? VIII? Six... X? Seven...) But, this is a fight between VI and VII. Don't get me wrong, FFVI is still great. I'd say the same thing about my least favorite FF game, FFIX, the worst but still great. And, another thing... the music wasn't bad! J-E-N-O-V-A, Seto's Theme, etc. Great! I know, a lot of you folks here are "old-skool". More people here will like FFVI more. Some people just go with the flow. But don't discriminate on the FF game that introduced me to RPGs and made RPGs mainstream... Show the love! I love FFIV, that's old skool! I'm in the middle, I don't favor either side, but people who just discriminate on FFVII for stupid or none reasons...shut up! And, as stated in another thread, some people don't like it because it is somewhat futuristic... WTF? Who cares!?! A FF game is an FF game. Not all FF games are "medieval". FFVI has some futuristic roots in it... (sorry, I might be getting it confused with V)... And, even though Sephiroth is cool...he isn't the greatest...*sigh* Last edited by Red XIV; 01-10-2006 at 01:53 PM. |

I haven't beat FFVI or have I beaten FFVII, thus, I am neutral here but still want to share my view.
Yes, yes you shall cuss me out the forum for this but the whole "FFVII is superior to all other" is bull. It has FLAWS (say it with me) Battle system:I don't like the overcustomization.Sometimes I find myself using Cloud for everything.White Magic, Black Magic, Offense, the whole gamut. If it weren't for the Limits, I would have never known what were the characters *original* calling. With FFVI there is always a time when you say, "Shucks!I should have brought Celes for her RunicBlade ability." Never will you say that with FFVII cause all ya need is Materia so if it were allowed, you could play with Cloud, Cid and Aeris all the time. Minigames should not be to irritate you but it should be a diversion to put down the weight of the world that you were struggling with and free up. From what I've seen about having to beat Ruby weapon to get some Rose to give to a old guy for a special Chocobo so that you could get Knights of the Round Table.. really could add up.And yes,if u don't think you can't beat it, look up about it. Villain:Kefka is a loony, from what little I've seen about him so far, he really has lots of loose screws to tighten. As for Sephiroth, he has good motives but I was wondering if destroying the world would solve it.He should just kill Shinra.INC cause I think they started everything.he didn't hafta kill Aeris/th.Or maybe its because I haven't reached the part where he killed Aeris/th yet.But as for overrating him. Yes. He is overrated. What's so special about a guy in black with a thin long sword .He had motives cause I would definitely want to see some blood shed if someone did that to my mom.Maybe I seemed to bash FFVII, but that's because I have played a good bit of FFVII and I am now setting of to go for the other espers that are in some place. But both are good game (except ppl tend to overrate FFVII). But as I said b4, I am neutral so go ahead and argue for I shall be back with my decision later. |

On the part that you will need like Celes for example in FFVI: Well, that IS a bonus. But your Materai slots aren't infinite. So for the same matter you could say: "Ow crap, I wish I had Elemental equipped." Also, the abilities of the FFVI cast are never REALLY necessary. They're nice and all, but Magic will do a lot for you. There are characters that become VERY useful with their abilities like Sabin, Edgar, Cyan and Shadow. The rest is fine with just their standard commands. Also, I don't think FFVII would lose here. Well, maybe in the poll, but | ||||||||
