Gundam Series
wow, the Gundam series is so awesome. But every different show has like only like, 30-50 episodes. But i think Gundam WING is the best. [NOTE:I just like Nicol Armarfi in Gundam SEED, everyone else can bite my ass]. ok, let's see if i can name a few, maybe all:
Gundam G-Gundam Gundam~War In The Pocket Gundam~The 08th MS team Gundam~Star Light Memory Gundam WING Gundam SEED Gundam SEED~Destiny GUndam SEED~Astray BLUE FRAME Gundam SEED~Astray RED FRAME That's all i can think of. |

I just started watching the Gundam Seed Series, not to sure which one. I didn't think I would like it cause I am not normally into stuff like that but I found it rather interesting, the episode I saw was when this guy went to this house with all those bouncing robot round things, and that kid with glasses was in his cell for something. It seems to me like it was inspired by the WW2 error with them trying to evolve in a way. Anyway I shall continue to watch it.

Since the thread missed out on a whole bunch of Gundam shows and some others, so here is a list of all of them at least as the Newtype Magazine lists them, which should have all of them.
Mobile Suit Gundam Gundam : The Origin - Manga Gaia Gear - Manga/Novel Mobile Suit Gundam : Char's Counterattack Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ Mobile Suit Gundam 0080 : War in the Pocket Mobile Suit Gundam 0083 : Stardust Memory Mobile Suit Gundam F91 Mobile Suit Gundam : Hathaway's Flash - Manga/Novel Mobile Suit Victory Gundam Mobile Fighter G Gundam Mobile Suit Gundam Wing Mobile Suit GUndam : The 08th MS Team After War Gundam X Turn A Gundam Gundam Evolve Gundam Neo Experience 007 : Green Divers SD Gundam Force Mobile Suit Gundam MS Igloo : The Hidden One Year War Mobile Suit Gundam Seed Mobile Suit Gundam Seed MSV Mobile Suit Gundam Seed Astray - Manga Mobile Suit Gundam Seed X Astray - Manga Mobile Suit Gundam Seed Astray R - Manga Mobile Suit Gundam Seed Astray B - Manga Mobile Suit Gundam Seed Destiny Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam : Heirs to the Stars Turn A Gundam I : Chikyu Ko Turn A Gundam II : Chikyu Ko Mobile Suit Gunda Wing : Endless Waltz The 08th MS Team Miller's Report Beltochika Children - Novel Mobile Suit Gundam I Mobile Suit Gundam II : Soldiers of Sorrow Mobile Suit Gundam III : Encounters in Space If it is marked Manga or Novel, then there is no anime version of it yet, otherwise it has an anime version. The Mobile Suit Gundam universes are pretty expansive and they have taken the newest series franchise they have the Seed universe and gone all out on it, seeing as the only universe that they did that with before was the original UC timeline. I still prefer the Gundam Wing universe, but I am definitely a fan of the Seed universe because it played to so many of the similarities from the original while laying out its own path.

I just saw an old advert for the Gundam Wing series, it looked quite differant at first, the people and such looked differant, I guess I could say it seems more american that Seed. How long has the series been around for? I guess I'll have to look for a torrent or something.

I saw Gundam WING.
It was years ago, though. I really liked it at the time. Every night at 11.30pm, I think it was, I would sit down and watch it. Haha, been ages since I saw Gundam WING, though... Or any anime for that matter. Hm...

Mobile Suit Gundam, that has been around since 1979 when it was first aired, thus the year U.C. 0079. If you are talking about Gundam Wing, 1995, thus the year, A.C. 195. The Gundam name has been around for nearly 30 years now, it will be having its 30th birthday sometime in 2009.
I remember watching Gundam Wing on Toonami and the commericals for it. I saw the commericals so many times and got so excited that I practically memorized them. Oddly enough one of my DVDs has the original Toonami commerical for the Gundam Wing trailer, do not know why, but always brings back members when I watch it. I remember when they started to show the original Mobile Suit Gundam series that was beautiful to see, seeing the montage they put together always got me to hyped and excited for the episode. It was sad that they never really managed to finish the show. I do not think it had nearly the good ratings that Gundam Wing did, it is shame, because Mobile Suit Gundam is the original it has a lot of things going on throughout the show. It was fairly deep for its time. Though the whole U.C. series got really deep as they made more series and expanded the timeline.

I've never seen the original Mobile Suit Gundum, I had no idea the series dates back all the way to the 70s, is it American or Japanese? The advert I have is on the Berserk DVD which I believe was recorded in 1997 - 1999 but the DVD was made in 2002.
I never had Sky (NZ's equivilent to Cable) nor Cartoon Network so the only anime I really saw was Dragonball Z, but I find watching TV tedious with adverts and such. But I may eventually pick up the DVDs, I have a good $500, though I need to get my contacts and pay a few bills, I'll have $200 left so I may look into it, any recomendations ? |

Mobile Suit Gundam is Japanese, it is anime like all the rest, Gundam started the huge giant robot craze. It was done before Gundam, but Gundam made it popular and then everyone started make giant robot shows. I think Voltron pre-dates Gundam, but I am not sure. Either way Mobile Suit Gundam is often considered the original giant robot show.
There are three movies for the original show that simply just covers the whole show, so if you wanted you could watch the movies and see if you like the show, since you will get a good majority of what happens from it.

I myself prefer the Gundam Wing and 8th MS Team series. Gundam Wing sates my hunger for confusing political and literal warfare, and 8th MS Team had a sense of realism to it.
