Active or Wait Mode?
Which mode do you like better, Active or Wait mode?
-------------------- Though it is a tad harder, I like Active Mode better. It keeps you on your toes and you actually have to pay attention where the monsters are so you don't get your arse kicked. I mean, if I was sick or something, I would use Wait mode because my mind would not be able to keep up with what is going on. I didn't like it at first, because I am not used to this sort of battle system that they have, but as I played more and more into the demo; and even more than once, I decided that Active Mode was better. |

I'm gonna agree with rob on this one. For fighting regular enemies I liked using active mode fine, but for the boss battles where I liked to have a little more strategy, I preferred the wait mode.

Well I played both for probably an hour or two each, and both were fine. Though considering I am used to playing FFXI, I am used to active mode, if you are hesitate you are dead and I like that. Makes you feel like you are actually in a tense situation, that there is a battle for your life going on and that you have to win, freezing because you are confused means you die. While that is a little harse, it does make the gameplay more interesting. Plus it turns away from the standard of RPGs that time freezes, while in wait I do find it easier to deal out commands because I am not rushed for time, I find the pause a little annoying. Why because I am used to moving and calling out commands at the same time, heck in FFXI I am used to auto walk for a few seconds so I can hit down a command or type something up and make course corrections. I am stalling time still, but I know that at any moment there could be an enemy I need to fight, just keeps you on your toes.
But definitely without a question I love the active mode, I can be running towards the monster and knock out the commands at the same time and keep the flow unchanged. I enjoyed the demo a lot and ended up just running around and around killing things getting my practice in because it was so much fun to play, I know played the active mode a lot more. I like Ashe because she seems to be a heavy hitter unlike Vaan. Though I do find it interesting that everyone has magic. Though I have trying to figure out if the wait and active mode active the MP regen any, which seems to be the only thing that regens, its unfortunate that the HP does not.

both of them seemed fine, but I think I'll end up using the wait mode. i don't want to feel rushed and I'd like to be able to know how I'm doing with the battle. I'm sure I'll switch it up, and see come to a clear decision, but for now I think I'd want to use wait mode.

Well both are pretty cool in my opinion. Wait mode is easier because you won't get bashed up if you don't do anything for a certain period of time. Final Fantasy X was really good because of this, you could leave the game running and not do anything and the enemies wouldn't be able to hurt you. Active mode is a good challenge because you can't waste time with attacking the enemy. They'll attack randomly and you have to be prepared. I have only played a bit of Final Fantasy X-2 lately and I have been enjoying active mode so far. You can't leave the game for a couple of minutes and come back otherwise you'll notice that your characters are dead. I have done that a couple of times...

I always use Wait mode...
Does that make me a wimp? I just like taking my time in selecting what I want to do, and to plan out strategies without a lil more pressure.

I like using wait mode because then you have time to think about what you are doing.
