The story with Noname
I don't normally write and hardly ever keep what i write but i rather liked how this one was going so yeah... i've no title for it just yet. It's a fantasy romance complete with elves!! hehe... *sigh* cliche elves and humans and dwarves... but anywho... here it is.
------------------------------------------------------------- Humans had been mistreating elves for longer than anyone could remember, simply because they looked different. Children of both species were taught that the others were monsters that would kill you and eat you, or even eat you alive. That they would come in the night and steal little children for food. So imagine what it would be like, growing up like that... and stumbling across that which you had been taught to hate. Or being the one stumbled across! ---------- She was bathing at night again, the only time she had to herself, and no one was going to tell her to stop. They could try, but she sure as Gehena wasn't going to listen. Of course, after that night she might change her mind, but then again she was rather stubborn about some things. Sitting on the rocks in the shallow water, gazing up at the moon, the cracking sound of a twig snapping came to her ears. It came from behind, she thought after a moment. But being as young as she was, she didn't think it could be trouble. "I'll go back to the village in a moment, mother," she sang out, "Just let me enjoy the night air a moment longer." There was no response and no other sound came so she relaxed and closed her steely blue eyes, figuring her mother had left. Humming softly to herself as she continued to bathe in the moonlit river, enjoying the coolness of the water around her. A distant howl came to her ears to remind her of the late hour and, sighing, she dunked her head under one last time before she left, flicking her hair back behind her ears... Then stoping dead as she heard a startled gasp. Turning quickly without any thought to covering her body, she spotted what must have cracked the twig earlier. Talk, she thought first, so tall... Didn't know they got to be that tall. They... they.... HUMANS! As the word finally found its way into her head, she snapped out of her trance and ran, darting through the trees she knew so well, ducking and weaving through the branches, not noticing that she'd left her clothes, not noticing that the human wasn't following her. Just running, running until she got to the safety of the confines of her home and collapsed into a ball of fear. ----------- He didn't know why he was here, in this wood. He'd heard all the stories of elves, how they haunted the forest and killed anyone who entered. How they feasted on the corpses of any human that had the misfortune of wandering into their grasp. He'd been raised on the tales of the horrors of elves. Yet here he was. The elk he had been chasing long gone from his sight, tracks hard to find in the darkness of night. Even with the full moon to light his path he could barely see. The sound of splashing water reminded him of how long he'd hunted his prey with little time to stop for a drink, making his throat that much drier when he swallowed. Unable to find sight of his prey, the hunter instead turned his attention to finding the source of the water that taunted him so. Stumbling blindly through the trees that seemed to have closed in about him, he could hardly avoid stepping on a twig, wincing as he heard it crack underneath him yet continuing on, only to freeze a moment later when a voice sang out to him. It sounded so young, so innocent, so close to the water he was seeking. The hunter crept a little closer, spying a form in the river he had searched for the quench his thirst. She was a young thing, he could tell that much from what little of her body he could see, small and slender, and oh so beautiful. Her soft voice wafted over the air to him as she started humming and he fell into a trance, closing his eyes and just listening to her. A howling wolf in the distance forced him back into the present and he opened his eyes, just in time to see her tuck her hair behind her ears... Her pointy, elven ears. A gasp came unbidden from his throat and he cursed his lack of control as the young monster, for that is what he knew her to be now, whipped around to face him. The evil siren seemed surprised to see him standing there, as if she had not meant to lure him, and then came the shocking action. Instead of claiming his soul, as he had been taught the female elves did, she blinked out of what seemed like honest shock, and bolted. Leaving a very confused, yet relieved, human behind to ponder over weither the water was safe to drink now or not. -------------------------------------------------- |
