DoC Battle ~ Mind over Matter

<~ OOC: Yeehaw, we're on a roll. Welcome to the 3rd official DoC battle, starring Rinoa.Heartilly and Sevion. It is known that Rinoa chose a Red Mage for this battle, but Sevion's choice remains unknown for now. If he's still having a hard time picking, he should check out the DoC thread. Remember, the first post is to introduce your character. Rinoa starts and she must leave room for Sevion to introduce HIS character after Rinoa's post.

Anyway, I hope that's clear. Let's get it started!! ~>

It was now known by the citizens of Terra that Fenii had dispatched messengers to spread the word about the Deck of Cards, but also to hand them out. This seemed the best way for Fenii to keep up with all the people that wanted to start battling like a true fighter.

As people were spreading rumors about Fenii's project, one of his messengers reached the Southern Market, which was known for its beautiful statue of an angel in the middle of the square. The messenger went to the statue, which was placed in a fountain, to see its beauty with his own eyes. In the fountain puddle there were many coins. The messenger looked up to the angel and was amazed by the craftsmanship that went in to this work. There was a golden plate, with a small passage on it: "The rich may be sad, and the poor might be glad. Be fond of the latter, for they prefer mind over matter." The messenger smiled at the irony as he saw the many coins in the water.

He was suddenly approached by someone: "Excuse me, sir...Aren't you the person representing Sir Fenii?" The messenger nodded full of surprise. The boy continued: "Well, if you don't mind, could I possibly start duelling? And if so, I would like a Diamond card..." The messenger smiled even more and handed the boy a Diamond card, representing a Red Mage...

The boy stared at the card. He was very amused by the quite colorful card.
It was a Red Mage card. The Red Mage was known for its ability to use magic and physical attacks at the same time.

"So this is really one of them. I have one of the cards." he thought.

The boy, still mezmerized by the card took another glance at it. He then pondered one thought:

"Who will I duel? Who will help me become stronger? Who else got one of these mysertious cards?"

The boy, still looking at the card asked the messenger:

"Who do I duel? Who is my opponent?"

The boy looked up. The messenger dissappeared into the crowd.

"I guess I'll have to find my own opponent."

The boy heard his stomach growl. It was time for the boy to get something to eat. He went into the Pub not 15 feet from him.

"I'm hungry. Time to eat."

He looked at the card it was a warrior card perfect for him.He looked up first thinking this was a joke i mean who would choose him and why?

Just as he was about to ask who his apponit was the messenger disapeared he decided to enter the pub to find an opponet...

He looked over and found another fighter with a card and walked up to him. "um hello yes are you looking for an opponet"."well then you've found him"
(OOC UM BY THE WAY HIS NAME IS SEVION) sevion swung his sword at his apponet and cut his arm then backed up...

<~ OOC: Word of comment for both of you: Remember this is the RPB section, your signature must be turned off in your posts. And Sevion, your post is so short, and doesn't really say how your character gets in to a fight with the other character. Also, both of you; your characters don't have names. They should! The fighters in the DoC are still unique, or else it would just be boring.

I'll fill up the story to make up for the small mistake, but remember to post your characters' names in your next posts. ~>

The two fighters had both received a card, and strangely enough they both went to look for an opponent in the nearest pub. The first fighter looked eagerly for someone to joust with and was surprised when he saw the card of Hearts: "You...Let's do this outside..." The two fighters went outside, the pub was too crowded and too small to fight in.

The two fighters faced each other, one more eager than the other. The both held their cards firmly, but realised they had to throw it for them to come to life. When they finally did, the fighters were amazed at what the cards created. They saw how their Red Mage and Warrior yearned for a battle.

The Red Mage looked at his sword, and moved first...

(((OOC: I am so sorry I haven't been keeping up to date with this. I'm really bad with these things and I will try my best to post her more. One of my pet peeves when it comes to RPing or RPBing. Please try your hardest to spell correctly! It ruins the mood of the RP/RPB. Yeah I just walked into the the pub. my character just got in. He is probubly just in the doorway. I know much about RPing. Like people just don't walk into a pub and automatically find the person you were look for. It takes time then that; anyone can write just about the destination, but you should maybe write about the journey. Like you could write about how you began to fight me, but wouldn't it be more interesting if you wrote about how you came to find and confront me. Put a little more thought, realism, and creativity into your posts. You can do what your wish, but its just a bit of advice. Mehh I was god-modded like crazy. My characters name is Aeneas by the way. I'm slightly irked because my character didn't really do much in the way of responding to Sevion's challenge. He was mystically inclined to battle, without say, but I guess I'll go from Inferno's post.))

The Red Mage that Aeneas commanded was very handsome indeed. He was very well dressed, though an insanely modest temperment. He faced his opponent the equally well dressed but bold Warrior. The Red Mage looked at his sword puzzled and he then put it back in its sleeve. Watching this action of the Red Mage, Aeneas remembered a saying a on a statue when he first came to town: "The rich may be sad, and the poor might be glad. Be fond of the latter, for they prefer mind over matter." Perhaps it was the Mage giving him a clue by the sword shealthing? Or maybe the mage had already surrendered and gave up on his master? Hoping that the Red Mage had NOT given up, Aeneas gave the Red Mage a command. With this command the Mage unshealthed his sword one again and muddered a spell incantation:

"Thunder!"

<~ OOC: You have some small spelling mistakes, but they don't bother the reader too much. Try to look after that though. REMEMBER TO TURN OFF YOUR SIGNATURES AS WELL!!!

Apart from that I must say, NICE intro! You've been very creative by using the small things you had already received and put them in to use. My hat's off for that. A little misunderstanding with you and Aeneas, but he will listen, seeing he IS your character

It's also nice you use a traditional name like that, for the DoC is to be kept simple and easy to understand. That was also the reason I made character presets, so everyone knew what was going on.

You COULD've described your Thunder attack, if you wanted. But you can leave that part for your opponent, to give him some material. Sevion, it is now your turn. I advise you to describe Rinoa's Thunder attack very well, in order for you to make a good impression. It will also give you the advantage in battle if done right. GOOD LUCK to you both! Sevion, go get 'em!! ~>

The thunder surged toward Sevion like a wave of blinding light. The thunder just missed him as he jumped out of the way. He landed with a crash. After getting up he got out his sword. "Hmph was that your pitafull attemp at hurting oh please". Sevion charged toward The mage and swung his sword with great force and speed.

<~ OOC: Counter 'ok?' That was a reeeeeally short post. I would've liked having seen a very nice description of the Thunder attack, as well as your own attack. Remember to say where and how you swing your blade. You can expand your post with great deal if you detailed it more. For instance:

"Sevion charged towards the somewhat puzzled Aeneas holding his sword by his his right hip. He realised he had to strike the Red Mage now, in order to gain the advantage. For the moment in which Aeneas had to think of what happened, could be the perfect moment to attack. Sevion felt some small sweatdrops on his forehead. He didn't feel like worrying about this now. All he was set to do was to defeat his opponent. He realised that the time had come where the battle begun. Holding his sword even more tightly, Sevion swung his sword towards Aeneas' left shoulder, with the intent to slash the blade across his chest. With great force and speed, this attack might leave Sevions opponent renderless."

((OCC: I figured it made some sense leaving open ended..I know I hate having no material)))

Aeneas saw the strong and able warrior charge toward his mage. He could hear the warcry of the Warrior as he came toward the Red Mage. The warrior had taken the huge Broadsword and he swung it as if it was a dagger. The
Aeneas almost knew that would be the Warrior's attack. Warrior was large and more powerful in size, so he had to find some way to harm him without getting hurt himself.

Aeneas' mage attempted to block the attack of the mighty Warrior but was partial unsuccessful. He had tried to block the huge hit with his inferior sword. The Broadsword pushed away the short sword with ease. Though it did decrease the damage it did it didn't fully prevent it, leaving a nice sized gash acrossed the mage's chest. The mage recovered slowly and was commanded to mutter another incantation.

"Fire!"

The Fire spell surged out of his hand.

"Remember..." said Aeneas. "Mind over matter!"

OOC: I'd like to comment, if I may.

I like the fact that you decided to soak the damage from the Warrior's attack, as opposed to modding out of the way. Very mature, and well played.

I think it's a good idea to leave some attacks open, especially at the beginning of a battle and when not going in for a kill.

It's also an obvious advantage you have with the spells. A warrior's only real option in most cases is to dodge, and he's much slower than the thief. Nothing can affect him more.

And one a final note: I love how you used the battle title IN the battle. It's rather witty.

<~ OOC: I have to agree with Valar on that one. Using the title the first time is very creative. Using it the second time makes it seem as if Aeneas is making fun of his opponent. I'm lovin' it.

Sevion, it's now your turn: Show us what you've got! I'm hoping you've understood what I've meant with my comment on your post. You still have a chance to make this fight very very interesting ~>

(OOC ...ok? well i was trying to leave it open and i was rather tired when i wrpte that so it was short ill make a better one this time)

The mage had casted fire and it was coming towards Sevion at a fast speed. Before he could move the fire hit him with high impact. It slightly Burned him arms and legs,He was weakend but far from dead. "Ok now you will see my true power".

Sevion realized that his attacks would not do much damaged if the mage could heal so he knew that he must attack with enough power to greatly weaken the mage. Sevion grabbed his sword and ran towards the mage with it above his head. As Sevion got close enough he turned his sword to an angle at witch it could stab the mage in the torso. He looked at the mage and hoped this would work as he finally reached him...

((OOC: Don't worry about healing. On TFF, healing is considered a God-mod. besides the mage doesn't have any healing spells in his arsenal to begin with. and i'm not on very much so I'm very sorry for these delays in posting.))

Aeneas saw the rather large sword going for his midriff. He felt as though he was being hunted and killed by a trapper. The opponent was clearly trying to kill him, and Aeneas simply couldn't allow it. Aeneas stepped out of the swords way, enough to not recieve a fatal blow but enough to give him a less life threatening injury to the side. The move was now a mere a scrape of the flesh rather then an impaling injury. Mind you it still caused Aeneas great pain. Still standing his ground Aeneas let out a grunt of pain.

"OOOWWAhhhh!!!"

Knowing his sword would do nothing to the he still resorted to the magic in his arsenal. Aeneas quickly casted a strategic spell this time around.

"Blizzard!!!"

The Ice-based spell was aimed for the Warrior's feet.
