Worth the Sacrifice?

I know i know, i start a thread, and say im going to be all in it, and then i post two times, and i don't post again...ever. Well i've actually been here on a more regular basis, so yeah.

Anyways, to the matter at hand. The questions are:

1.What is worth sacrificing your whole life for?

2. Are you sacrificing your whole life for your answer to #1?

3. Why is it worth the sacrifice?

I would like to here some answers before i provide my own answer.

1. I would only sacrifice my life if it meant the entire destruction of the human race. Otherwise, no.

2. Nah, it'll never happen.

3. I'm tired of seeing the planet (planet) in all it's beauty mauled by us freaking stupid cretins. If we were dead and gone, the world would be a better place. I don't believe in terrorism, nuclear bombs or war, I believe in one of the gods giving us sudden instant death for a happy ending.

The life of my wife. She is my absolute soulmate, the only one for me. God made us perfect for each other. I don't think I could live without her now that I've found her. If she were in a burning building and I knew there was no way to rescue her, I would still run into the building. Like I said, I can't live without her, so I'm willing to die with her.

My two younger brothers. One is 19 and the other only 7. I would give up my life without question if it meant they would be safe if something put them in danger.

My girlfriend, and best friends. I may hesitate If It ever came to making that kind of a decision, but I would sacrafice myself yes. Also depending on how. If It was like taking a bullet, and there was some chance of survival, **** yeah I'd do it. I would not sacrafice myself for some random person out of the good of my heart, I'm not that big a saint =.= And my parents? I'd let them die.

I would like to here some answers before i provide my own answer.

1. It depends on what you mean by "life", if by life you mean my mortal existance then power, knowledge of the universe and knowledge of how to ascend to godhood or even a VERY good friend it worth sacrificing this mortal life. If by life you mean my eternal existance than **** no, nothing is worth oblivion.

2.I'm devoting my time to it but not my mortal life.

3.Because I'm driven to find out how to become more powerful and become a higher being and without this eternal endless quest existance dull and in each life I would only repeat the quest for temporal power and even though I would not remember any of it, the thought is depressing.

2. Are you sacrificing your whole life for your answer to #1? Yup. Every minute I'm with him. If I need to give something up for him, I do it in a heartbeat. I would give him my life if I had the chance.

3. Why is it worth the sacrifice? Any parent in his/her right mind would. Children are our future. I contributed by having him, and now he needs to grow up and make his contribution to this world, no matter how small or big it may be.

1. I would give my life if my mother could have some peace, and be healed for the remainder of her life. Diabetis and extreme pain to the hands and feet have haunted her for at least ten years. I would aslo die for a younger friend or sibling, for I know they would have longer to live, more of a life to live.

2. I would, with hesitation, give my life for the healing of my mother or the life of a friend/sibling. Though it is easier to say this then to do so, it is hard to tell if even I speak the truth.

3. Why? Because my mother deserves a chance to have a break from all the pain. She needs a chance to do what she would do without her pain, like run, camp and feel healthy. For a younger friend or sibling? Because they can live a whole life, I would have lived longer then them and I'd know they would have more of a future in this world of destruction.

Well i would give my life for my Girl friend If i really wanted to or mabey my younger brother

would i really well as for my girl friend i dont think were going to be togather for that long anyway and my brother can take care of himself so no i probably woundnt

Sevion you have a really good point. She ahs told me, if I were to die she wouldn't be able to live, same with my father. But at least one day of peace, and knowing she would see me when she herself dies, it would help me be a better a person.

As I place less value on my life than most, there's not too much I wouldn't give my life for. The way I figure, I'm a twenty-year-old college student with a small family, a decent number of friends, no romantic relationship, and a small impact on the community, it would be better for me to go than, say, some 35-year-old with a wife and kids. That's one of the reasons I joined the Army, and I'm seriously considering volunteering for another deployment to Iraq. While I was there, I would have gladly laid down my life at any time for the other men in my Company, or most likely any other man or woman serving there. Most of my friends, my family, etc. And plenty of ideals. My religion, my freedom, the safety and health of forementioned friends and family. I've already lost plenty of time, money, comfort, and sweat and blood for most of this, and I'd be proud to do the same again, given another opportunity.

As far as I go, my "life" is my being as a sentient creature on this earth. If I have to give my material existence in order to save something... I would do it for my girlfriend/wife-to-be. We've just recently been engaged, and, if I may quote Mike above:

i would sacrifice myself for my whole familly, probably anybody in need really.
