Mobile Suit Gundam Prophecy (Original Story)

First before anything, this is a Gundam RP, but not based on any previous Gundam Universe, it will as usual follow the general rules developed through the different series, but this is an original story having no relations to any other show.


In the year After Nuclear 605, half of the earth is terraformed to be habitable for the human race. In the six hundred years after the nuclear holocaust and the winter that came afterwards, what was left of the advanced civilization of man lay in utter ruin. In the centuries to follow, the pieces were picked up and the surviving population of the Antarctica settlement colony worked to rebuild the earth. The years to follow after the war slowly killed 98% of the world’s remaining population from radiation poisoning or related causes.
The Antarctica Colony consisted of only two hundred scientists and four thousand civilians. As the temperature of the world rose and waters rose, Antarctica became a temperate climate livable for the remaining few thousand safe from the massive radiation. As the survivors of the advanced civilization, the scientists worked to maintain the life they all knew and try to reclaim the earth from man’s terrible deed.
The hope for a better future for the next generation was the only thing that kept everyone trying to find the answers. Finally, after a hundred years much of the surface of the earth was beginning to fall in radioactivity and their plan to save the earth could begin. The massive undertaking began in After Nuclear 145, which would remove the radioactivity and make the land fertile again.
Now Africa and South America are habitable, even parts of southern Asia, but further north remains a frozen wasteland of death where an eerie fog of purple blankets the land. The hope of countless generations before are being realized, people live in small towns across the terraformed band of South America and Africa, mostly farming communities. A few large cities lie in the south, but the largest city is Antarctica City, where the HOPE Organization lies and the whole of the technology of man.
Religious feelings spread across the people early during terraformation, now a strong following exists that gives the people faith in the future. Many say it was the only bond that kept everyone together, but in recent years topics that the apocalypse better six hundred years again was a test and soon angels will come from the heavens to reward them. However, in the far dark corners of the pages speaks of a prophecy of terror, in the darken sky will fall stars upon the earth and re-ignite the flames of war to cleanse man of its dark sin upon the earth.
The prophecy is upon us many shout, fear is crawling into the homes scattering the hope. The people are becoming uncertain and are looking for answers. What is the truth of the Dark Sky Prophecy and who will survive?


Ok, now as it looks it does not seem like a Gundam type, but I am laying down things from the viewpoint of the survivors. And as I realize it, there are several similarities with Turn A Gundam. Where do the colonies fit in, where are the mobile suits? How is this a mecha story? Well here are the answers. Here is the truth behind what the people on the earth do not know.

The earth is covered by a dark cloud, most of it anyway, the people believe this is remains of the nuclear holocaust. They are only half correct, there is actually a shield around the planet, one that neutralizes nuclear reactions, thus no more nuclear attacks, but also no fusion or fission is possible so no nuclear plants for energy source. The shield has kept a lot of the planet darkened, which was placed up before the war, but due to problems was not activated in time. So the whole world died. While the world still gets sunlight, the dark clouds block out a lot of the solar light, so think of it like being cloudy all day. As such, they genetically engineered plants that require less sunlight for photosynthesis. Still does not answer the main questions though.

Where are the colonies? Well they are up there, but with the shield up it is impossible for them to return to earth. They have been isolated from the earth for six hundred years, but the people on earth forgot over time that they actually existed, they are now just fantasy and myth. The colonies situation is that they are Federated, and call themselves the Earth Colonial Federation. They have been researching methods to crack the shield to return to the earth with little success, since it neutralizes nuclear reactions many of the nearby colonies were destroyed by proximity. The effects exist throughout the earth sphere of colonies, but the degree is lesser as it gets farther away. Most of the colonies now run on solar power, which has been advanced to a point of effectiveness making large colony power issues possible without having massive arrays.

Mobile Suits, well the colonies have continued a long a development similar to earth, they have had wars, fighting and mobile suits were created from the need for a physical presence on the battlefield of space. Most of the suits are made for space combat and the only real ground training anyone has is on simulated gravity or moon gravity, which tend to be inaccurate.

The Earth Colonial Federation has been working on experimental mobile suits designed to enter earth atmosphere. Great hostility is still felt for the acts of war that the earth has long forgotten, they wish to take the earth for themselves. However, the HOPE Organization is not blind to the colonies movements and while unable to match the colonies in power have developed a special mobile suit designed to fight large scale forces, these suits go by the code name GUNDAM, trained pilots selected from across the world have been brought into the organization preparing for the eventual battle to come.

Well that be the stage, as you can see you got the Federation, which is a general must for Gundam, mobile suits, Gundams, and your ever favorite colonies this time being the aggressor.

Anyway, I need a sort of show of hands to see who is interested in the joining the RP. While I do not want to set out characters yet, I figure as per the usual, you need between 1-5 Gundam pilots, a masked villain, and if we so wish, a white base. But the general requirements are masked villain and gundam pilots. So have in mind what you want to be, a Federation Soldier or HOPE Soldier or someone in between. I will wait to see the feedback I get.

As said at the top, this has nothing to do anything any of the Gundam anime, I am merely using the name and style developed as a frame of reference. It is a different universe, like the mainly AU shows they have. Moblie Suit Gundam was the original story, but G Gundam, Gundam W, Gundam SEED, do not take place in that universe. It is a new universe, but using the common frame of reference as Gundams. All you need is a good understanding of some of the common threads in Gundam shows, which I mainly layed out. You really do not have to have seen the shows to do this. Though it will help.

Well that is all that is important, that you have an understanding of the Gundam Universes. Most of the Gundam series have aired on US TV, but several still remain unaired, the most well known are Gundam Wing and Mobile Suit Gundam. Though there remains, 0080, 0083, 08th MS Team, Gundam Zeta, Gundam ZZ, Turn A Gundam, Victory Gundam, G Gundam, Gundam SEED, Gundam SEED Destiny, Char's Counterattack, and plenty more. Out of the list ones, probably half have aired in the US. I have seen all the aired series, and I do not expect anyone to know them all, or even seen them that have aired. I figure most people probably have seen Gundam Wing, which is often a personal favorite of peoples.

Yeah, someone where between 2-6 would be nice. Seeing that we are up to 5 now, things are starting to look up now. Well with people signed up, if anymore people want to join it is still open. Though picking what you want to do. I figure in most cases a Gundam Pilot, which is why there are plenty of places for you. I have no real set number on how many Gundam Pilots, but the normal formula was either 1 or 5, but I figure somewhere between there is perfectly fine.

As for the masked villain, heck he can be on the good guys side, though in Gundam good guys are a very relative term, seeing as in most cases both sides are equally evil, just there is the lesser of two evils in most cases, the one being more evil than the other. In G-Gundam there was a masked character, though he was a good guy, until the end when you found out that he was actually a villain. And in many cases the masked villain is the main character's common foe. Except in the case of Gundam Seed, where he was not really after Kira so much, more looking to Mu, for his own reasons.

But anyway, I have Gundam out my ears with Newtype, so if you have any questions or concerns when writing or just needing to know if you are within the field of the genre just ask away.

Remember you are not required to be a Gundam Pilot. You can be a Federation Mobile Suit Pilot, or something else of your design to fit it. Though we do have to keep in mind, that unless we get more people wanting to sign up, it will just be the five of us. Which limits to a degree how much freedom you have, but try not to let it weigh you down. If you want to be a mechanic, go for it.

I will start things off with my character.

Name : Shizuka Hiraoka
Age : 14
Sex : Female
Nationality : Japanese
Appearance : Hair almost down to her knees, pink highlights the rest a mid-blonde, obviously dyed. Short around 4'8" and usually wears dirt caked woven dress, with thick long sleeves usually tied back by ribbon or cloth when working in the fields. Usually can find dirt on her face and hands from working in the fields.
Background : Shizuka is the estranged daughter of the chief GUNDAM development engineer, Yukio Kitawara. When his wife died, the two became distant, he delved into his work forgetting more and more about Shizuka. After an argument she left Antarctica City and never made contact with him since.
Shizuka took a flight one of the new agrocultural developments in the South Asia region and wondered from village to village at the age of 8 until near exhaustion and dehydration made her collapse in a village far to the north near the safety zone. The people gave her aid and nursed her back to health, for which in repaidment for their kindness she remained in the village to help with the work.
Since then she has returned to her mother's maiden name and to spite some of her own Japanese hertiage that she got from her father, she dyed her blonde, which has since begun to fade slowly to black over the years. (Technology of the day, allows for longer lasting hair colors, so do not think it odd, since for us it would probably have changed back fully in half a year or less, since she is growing.)
Her normal day is working in the fields morning to night, which each season it gathered and some kept by the village the rest sent back to Antarctica City to feed the people. Life in the village is rough with little technology other than the terraformers, so much of the land looks like it would from the 1800s. There are a few amendities such as running water and plumbing and the rarity of some electronic device, probably a calculator.
She enjoys and prefers this life, opposed to the almost elitist views that the city people have. Technology runs their lives and they are only concerned about their position and getting results, family, people, emotions do not seem to matter to them; they just get in the way for getting the work done.
However, HOPE needs pilots and Yukio wants his daughter to be one of them and has started efforts to locate her and bring her back forcibly, if necessary.

Backround: He has grown up in the colonies. He loves living in the colonies. His father was in the army. He always looked up to his father and loved the military. ever since he was a young boy he has dreamed of haveing A MS of his own.He began training at the age of thirteen in the academy.He was always bright. A tactical genius some say. Now on his 17th birthday his father has been glad to give him his promotion .
Now that he has reached his goal one problem is growing in his soul. He wonders what life would have been like back on earth when it flourished.

Sure you can join, I am being open to anyone wanting to join. Just trying to get a group of people together to RP, something I have not been able to do in about 7 months.

Anyway, something I probably forgot to mention since it is just something that nature to me. There is a common theme in mecha genre, the pilots have to be teenagers, generally speaking 14 or that age range. Why, who knows but that is what they like to pick from. I guess 14 is an angsty time for teenagers so it makes for more drama. While you can be adult, most times there few adults due to some situation or whatever. I have to remember that some of things I take for granted you may not be thinking about, so I figured I would bring it up. Noah reminded me of last night. So I thought I would give you fair warning. It is not a requirement, just something to keep in mind.

Name : Edgar Dubois
Age : 16
Sex : Male
Nationality : Canadian
Appearance : Blue eyes that try to hide behind his green tainted glasses. Ed has mid length natural red hair that is almost always ponytailed are some of the more noticeable features that Edgar's face bears. He usually wears a plaid shirt with a pear of jeans. He also wears a black fedora that was once his fathers.
Background : Ed's parents separated when he was only two years of age. His father always told him that his mother had just got up and left one day. When he turned thirteen however his father decided to tell him the truth. Ed's mother did not want her son raised by such a reckless father. She pleaded with him to give up his job but Dave the leader of the mercenary group "The Maple Leafs." (T.M.L for short) couldn't do it. Not even for his son. So his wife left saying she did not want to see her son hurt if anything was to happen to his father.

Ed always thought it was ironic that his mother left because she didn't want to see him hurt but he soon experienced just what his mother had warned. His father died of a heart attack only six months after Ed's birthday. Entrusted with his father's legacy he became an official member of T.M.L. Under the new command of Dave's best friend Fin. T.M.L has kept the motto that their late leader had used to start that very legacy. "If the money's good take it!" Edgar soon became head pilot of the group and credited most of his skill to his late father.

Ed himself has changed since his fathers passing. Once the free spirited youngster Ed is now a matured teen known for being very blunt which sometimes comes off as rude. He blames it on maturing. He has also developed a strange theory that whatever he pilots that object shares his soul with him. This could be backed up by some of the stunts he has pulled while with T.M.L. Or he is just that good. These stunts one way or another also attracted the HOPE Organization to ask Edgar to be one of the test pilots for a project. Ed was told that he was one of the few who had any success at all over these machines. After his contract expired with HOPE Edgar and Dave made a compromise. Once the project was finished Ed promised he would return and become one of the machines pilots. Until that time however he would stick with T.M.L.

It's been a year now and the chief engineer of the project Yukio Kitawara has called the services of T.M.L to track down his long lost daughter. Kitawara also told Ed personally that the project was finished and it was time to make the switch over to the HOPE Organization.

Even though his last name is in french don't expect him to speak it much. His father never knew any of it so he never taught Ed except when his father cursed. So that's all Edgar knows.

*rushes in* Holy crap, it's been awhile. I will be honest, however, I will stay active as possible seeing that I'm online everday. Though, in a couple of weeks my mid-terms are coming up, so that's probably going to be the time I will be inactive again. Don't ask why I'm like..dead in this thread. I'm sorry ;_;

Seeing that this is ready to be taken into the RP world, I will post my character profile as soon as possible. Right now I cannot think of anything, but seeing that this is a high technology based RP I think I have an idea. But now's not the time since I have to edit the background information.
