Some sweet PS3 news.
Not sure who all is aware of it, but I was looking around and found this. If it's old news, my bad.
"Today, Sony CEO Howard Stringer announced that the Playstation 3 console will enter the market in mid-2006 between 300 and 400 USD. He also stated that the Playstation 3 will be packaged with a bundle of games, movies and TV shows (somewhat similar to the packaging of the Playstation Portable launch). Earlier, there was much speculation over the price of the Sony's upcoming console, with some estimating the console to cost as much as 1,000 USD due to the addition of the new expensive Blu-Ray format. Stringer confirmed that the company would indeed be taking on a major loss in order to use the Playstation 3 to promote Blu-Ray as the next generation standard. Stringer's comments come on the day of the launch of Microsoft's Xbox 360 console in North America." Source: GamesIndustry.biz
