Now these were classic movies. Come on, admit it, we all watched them as youngins. I'm obviously talking about Home Alone 1 and Home Alone 2. 3 shouldn't/isn't concidered a Home Alone movie.
These movies were so violent and hilarious! Well, they're actually pretty shitty American Slap-Stick humor.. but when you're 8 years old, it's funny as hell! (That says a lot about America. )"It was the sound of a tool case coming down the stairs!" *Crack noses back into place* Classic. I still cringe whenever I see the scene of Harry stepping on the nail in the first movie... Good Lord that would hurt... Bare feet.. it'd go right through! Ahhh! Speak Up. |

I love the first 2 also, they're great holiday movies to watch. When Harry gets electrocuted by the dryer and makes his high pitch scream I can't stop laughing at him. Or when he makes his epic scream in the first one when he gets a tarantula put on his face. Joe Pesci also makes the movie better, because in the early 90's he predominantly did mafia movies, but he made the right choice by doing a couple kids movies. The first 2 are movies that I could watch over and over agian and i'll never get sick of it.

Tee. The guilty pleasure of my childhood. That, and the Lion King. And you can say what you want, but Aladin is still cool.
I remember I used to reenact the screamscene...why on earth I was attracted to wearing man pj's and putting cologne on my face, I'll never know.

I hate the movie Home Alone, for me its not funny or even cool. The first time yeah I thought it was ok but now I dont like it at all. Besides that I hate the character and the actor its just kinds stupid that a boy can do all those things against a couple of adults. I mean that really doesnt happen in real life.

As you say, SB, at a young age the films were a great laugh. The contraptions and plans that Culkin came up with would probably have taken a good few hours in itself but kids don't really consider things like that. Also, since the humour is focused on a fairly slapstick style involving the two bumbling criminals this is where Home Alone 1 & 2 really do well. Me and my friends loved them. Although at the end of each film I'd point out the cliché of someone, who Culkin thought was nasty, saving him from a lot of pain. (The old man with the shovel and that bird feeding woman respectively). On retrospect I'd have preferred it if he had gotten shot. That would make it something I'd laugh at now I'm older. Home Alone 3 was disappointing. I went to the cinema to watch this and I remember thinking it didn't have the same "feel" to the original ones. Ah, well. |

Home Alone is show EVERY christmas here. I can remember it so vividly.
What with staying at the hotel in the city, and the big toy store. I remember seeing that and thinking "Wow, I wish I had all those toys". Which is something completely different from what I'd say now since I know swear words. Quote:
Realism? Its a children's film. I'd hate to think what you'd say if you saw 101 Dalmations. :S While we're on realism, lets consider this: Lets consider that there is a quantifiable demographic of 8 year old children, such as what you seemed to have been; the realism craving child. Can anyone think of many examples of this demographic? Enough to warrent a film or genre aimed at them? No. Now lets take a look at a similar demographic, but the children are now considered 'the norm'. How many examples can someone think for this demographic? Very many. Can you see what I'm getting at? No script writer is going to give two-shits about a very minor demographic of children who'd rather watch realistic children's films. Therefore, do not expect realism and you will not be disappointed.

I figure it was directed at you... concidering he quoted you... but yeah. Realism, Shmealism. It's a stupid movie, it doesn't have to make sense!
As for Winter's comment on the 3rd movie... I can't believe you actually paid money to see that crap. I can't believe they even made that crap to begin with. I only saw 15 mins of it on TBS: The super station once.. (They have a tendency to show shitty movies) and I couldn't bare to watch it any longer... Yeah.. it really doesn't have the same feel at all. The first 2 had great sound tracks though... Remember in the first one... where he actually is home alone..and sets up all those cardboard cut outs to dance around in his living room? That's pretty cool. P.S. I also agree about the gun-shooting statement. Bang. ![]() |

My friend saw Home Alone 3 in theaters. Luckily I didn't know him then, but he invited his friends to go see it for his birthday party. After the movie was over he persoanlly apologized to everyone for making them sit through the whole movie.
