Who will score FF13?
Nobuo Uematsu seems to be departing from scoring the Final Fantasy series. He did slim contribution to Final Fantasy XII, but he served as music producer. He is scoring for RPGs developed by Hironobu Sakaguchi's Mist Walker for Microsoft Xbox 360. I still believe that Uematsu should score Final Fantasy XIII, a future PS3 game, along with Masashi Hamauzu and Junya Nakano, the same musicians who scored Final Fantasy X. I also believe that Tsuyoshi Sekito and Shirou Hamaguchi should score Final Fantasy XIV.

By golly Nobuo had better freakin' do XIII's score or I'll roundhouse kick his ass.
At least Masashi....what is up with Nobuo anyways? By golly he's as Final Fantasy as the typical blond main character, chocobos and moogles. And huge knockers on the females. Jesus. I mean, he should...do the music...yeah.

I'd only want Nobuo to do the score if he sticks with creating original pieces like what he did with the old PS1 Final Fantasies. I thought it was cheap how in FFX, he used the Powerman 5000 song, "When Worlds Collide". I'd prefer a revival and renewal of the old scores and remix it some.

Well while it is still being determined wikipedia states that Nobuo will more than likely be working with Masashi Hamauzu on the soundtrack to FF XIII. This could change of course..but just because he is gone from squareenix doesn't mean he won't be completely gone from the franchise. As he does contribute a few tracks to FF XII. And yeah, i don't think Sakimato gets enough credit, he is an incredible composer. I think his more classical epic arrangements are somewhat of a nice change from the more pop sound of Uematsu and the rest of those guys. Don't get me wrong though, I LOVE Uematsu dearly and his music is amazing. I just think Nobuo needs a bit of a break, and i don't blame him.
Here is a translated version of the letter he wrote to his fan club after leaving square enix.: "Hello everyone! I would like to thank you all for supporting my fan club. Well, I have news for you guys this time. I am going to leave Square/Enix at end of October!! Did I surprise you? Oh well, I'm not joking, it is the real thing, and I am going to quit! Ah...., there is always a negative image when employees "leave or quit their job", so I say, "I have graduated from the company..." how is that? There weren't any problems or arguements between them and me, so please don't take it the wrong way. I hope to work at my own pace now. So, this is what we call, a "Peaceful Resignation". My work will not end, I will keep creating game music, having more orchestral concerts and live concerts, making more "Black Mages" music albums, and also we are considering these plans for overseas fans as well. Please continue supporting my work. Oh, this fan club "Nobiwo no Shippo" will continue, so please relax! My new company that I am starting is called "SMILE PLEASE". I will keep living my life with smiles and enjoy everyday. ![]() Nobuo Uematsu October 31st, 2004." Basically..i doubt Uematsu will do the score. He might contribute a few tracks so they can tack his name on the credits, but i think it'd be safe to say that the majority of it will be done by others

I really hope that it is Nobuo Uematsu will do the score for Final Fantasy XIII but I don't think I will get my hopes up. I'd be really happy if he did do it because he makes such beautiful music for the games. He has not disappointed me yet in any of the FF games. If he's not going to do it, then I'm not sure who will. Hopefully somebody just as good!

one im really sure that the song wasnt When Worlds Collide and 2 im prety sure that it wasnt Powerman 5000 all i know is that it was Bill Muir that sang it and Michio Okamiya (from the"Black Mages) who played the guitar. anyways, about FF13 music. to me it would depend on how the whole game is set up. If its more like X and VII with the smaller areas and more stop and go quicky i would say Nobouo Uematsu, casue he does more quick catchy songs. But if its world and everything else is really huge and epic i would say give it to Hitoshi Sakimoto. Hitoshi seams to bring alot more intraments to the table and creates more of a epic soundtrack. Even better, have both of them do it together. get some from both of them.

Nobuo is the new-age Beethoven. Everything he writes becomes legendary. However, there are some pretty amazing new composers out there that I wouldn't complain about. If I had to choose myself, I'd have Nobuo do the soundtrack with some guest appearances by his band, the Black Mages.
