Shining Force

No one ever talks about these games and I think Shining Force 1 and 2 are two of the best rpg's out there, especially for its time. I dont know if people dont know about it or they just dont talk about it so I would like to see what other people thought of the game or if they have even heard of it.

Well, if you check the reviews, you'll see the first Shining Force game reviewed.

I concur with your observation. Indeed, Shining Force in all of the non-spinoff incarnations are magnificent tactical RPGs. While the RNG (random number generator) cheat for the emulated version is quite exploitable, it still provides a challenging experience. The story is cliché, but still good stuff.

I agree, its a shame they screwed the sprites up in the GBA make of Ressurection of the Dark Dragon.. have you compared them to the original? ye-gads man! me thinks that Nintendo should try one thing like they have done to many other ports from SEGA - just leave the damn things intact and make it still run on the GBA. ... but enough about that.

Shining Force, yep, its actually hard to top the mini-series off with any other RPG title (well, Final Fantasy wipes the floor with it, otherwise, IMO, all others are behind the clock), hell, it still has an official fan-site thing and SF has released more titles then FF has (give or take).

Haha, yeah, great games. The first one came over here in 1993, at that time, I doubt the story was as cliche as it seems now. I've beaten them both countless time, yet I keep coming back. As my first RPG, it will always have a special place in my heart.

It sucks that Shining Force Neo won't be following any of the things that made the first 2 (well, 3 if you include Sega Saturn) so great...

Shining Force is one of the greatest RPG games out there. Shining Force 1 and 2 were the only games I had for the Sega Genesis system. I have downloaded the two games on to my PC. When I saw they came out with the first one again for the Nintendo Gameboy Advance I went and bought a Gameboy advance SP just for that game. Truely one of a kind. The games are truely masterpieces.

Oh my god, I love you all! Shining Force was one of the best games of ALL time, and SF2 was a truly worthy sequel. It's one game that encompassed all that is good in role playing games, and doesn't need good graphics to do. Rule Mega-Drive for life!

Yowch, that screenshot's hard on the old optical receptors! I suppose I should find some way of playing these games, right?

That's the battle in which you're fighting the king of Runefaust. Or possibly the battle right before that, I don't remember if it was a two step battle or not. Shame shame.

Jintatsu. You're correct, it's the battle against King Ramladu, and it was a two step battle, that's the first half, then you have to fight him and his robots.
