HOT new Nintendo Revolution details

Basically gotten from an interview with the president of Nintendo Europe. It's in Spanish, but here are the main details:

- NoE will set up over 25,000 hotspots across Europe
- The USB Wi-fi adapter will available on Nov 25th at 39.95 €. This adapter will also be compatible with Revolution.
- Revolution will launch worlwide within 14 weeks maximum (as in no later, hopefully earlier), that means on the same quarter in every region.
- Multiplayer mode in Revolution will be similar to the NDS: multiple players with only one copy of the game.
- You'll be able to download retro games from different regions (for instance, an European user could download Super Mario RPG for the SNES from the US server).
- When played on Revolution, N64 games will have better framerate but there won't be significant graphical improvements.
- No Revolution games will be shown in 2005.
- There won't be any significant differences in the graphics of Revolution compared to the other systems

Compared to the Questionable backwards compatibility of XBox360 and recently the PS3. The Revolution is certainly starting to stand out with their download service and GC compatibility.

The very idea of downloading the original Japanese titles has me giddy.

The only thing that stands against Nintendos DL service is Live Arcade, where you can download classic classic retro games. But even then I don't care, as it means all of Nintendos 1st party stuff will be mine. X3 *drools*

As well as a healthy portion of third party titles, we can assume.

It was mentioned a couple months ago. We can only hope companies like Square-Enix decide to loosen the reigns on their titles and allow them to be downloaded via Revolution. Besides, it's not like they wouldn't see a portion of the cost of the download anyway.

No the quote means when Revolution launches next year it'll be released worldwide within 14 weeks. For example if it came out in Japan in say April 2006. It'll be released every else NO LATER than August. We're talking US, Europe, everywhere. They're basically saying they're trying to release it worldwide simotaineously or at least trying to lower the waiting period between different regions.

Well I'm just saying from a non-fanboyish perspective. Nintendo's the only console now that's promising a huge helping of classic titles and solid backwards compatibility, which definetely gives them an edge.

Actually Nintendo said they might edit older games to have better graphics or online play (I.E Origional Mario Bros with better graphics or an online Mario Party 1-3 for N64 were their examples). I think they said this around E3 but its been so long I don't know if I could find the source.

That said, Nintendo. Why 2006? THE WAIT, THE WAIT *drama*

That is not entirely true actually. Playstation 3 is backwards compatible as well. Some might want to mention that you are not able to use your old memory cards for PS3, but hey! What about all your old Nintendo save files?
The only reason as to why people are giving PS3's backwards compatibility a hard time is because it was not entirely what they expected.

No, a spokesman from Sony recently stated that the PS3 will not be completely backwards compatible with PS1 and PS2 games (as in some GAMES will not work). Hence why I said solid backwards compatibility. The issue was raised in response to a new limited edition PS2 model that also had some problems playing some games. Minor sure, it could be like the PS2 whereas it isn't a huge deal, but still, I'd imagine the list of incompatible games for PS3 will only become larger.

I'm not saying this reason enough NOT to buy a PS3, I'm just saying Nintendo is the only company right now that has (reportedly) solid 100% Backwards compatibility with GC titles (as well as the emulated NES, SNES, and N64 games)
