This is seriously... one of the greatest games of all time. I'm surprised it has recieved so little attention. I borrowed it from my friend and have spent countless hours playing it.

The max level is 999... really the game is endless. There is a random stage creator...There is just so much to the game!! I highly suggest looking into it if you have any brains whatsoever.

Amazing Storyline, Characters, Music, Replay Value, Graphics. Everything!

Yeah, SB, how can a little gem like this get lost in the mists of time? Most of the appeal of the game is really the fun factor. The game is crackling fun as heck!!!! I have already finished it once, and the highest level I have reached is about 125 so far.

I've heard countless sources say the actual maximum level is 9999. But I have never heard of anyone getting anywhere NEAR that kind of level. My guys are not even at 100 and I finished the game. It didn't take that long, and sadly, the game has absolutely no replay value. And hardly anything worth sticking around for after the storyline.

And the New Game+ is annoying because the guys aren't even at your level, which would make it a lot better and add to a replay value.

It was a good game, but only for one play.

Actually SB the maximum level in this game can be endless as long as you keep carrying your levels over to your character after you upgrade him from class to class. My characters alone have individual levels over 20,000 however this level is not seen the highest level seen is 9,999 but the stats are seen. At one point I became so obsessed with this game I did as many item worlds and extra storyline missions as I could but after fighting the hardest boss in the game with all the strongest weapons can get a little boring. So far I have unlocked four endings, I found etna's ending the best one yet. I even heard talk about a sequel except it doesn't involve Laharl from what I've heard so far.

Have you tried playing it once again with the other language? If you played it in English, try playing it on Japanese, and viceversa. Besides, there are plenty of endings (try killing 50 or 100 of your allies, and you'll see), and extra places to go (Human World, Alternate Netherworld, etc.) My humble opinion is you either haven't drawn the juice of it, or tried drawing too much juice in one game. I particularly like it because I'm more of a near-godly team maker, playing the game for character-building. Besides, level 9999 can be reached, it only takes a lot of time to do it, and pass way too many proposals at the Dark Assembly to make enemies stronger.

And yes, Nippon Ichi is producing a sequel to Disgaea, telling about a curse in a place, and the main character allying with a demon woman who's the child of the guy who placed the curse in the world. And Etna returns, bullying the Prinnies as always.

Besides, there's always Makai Kingdom...

this game is my god and i might not be very good at it but i am one of its biggest fam this game has to many classes most are good but get killed very easly eg. the mages may be exteamly strong but they are so dam weak.
on a diffren not how do you unlock the star skull or mage.

I've reached lvl 9999 with this and I like it . Disgaea was one of the longest game I've played and still kept playing it all day.I've finally reached 251 hours of playtime using my own watch.Eventhough it gets repetitive sometimes ,it's worth the the play.I look up to this game as my idol T.T.Since the new Disgaea camed out,I'm all eyes on this one : Disgaea 2 , Cursed Memories and i'm planning to get Lvl 9999 for this again =P There's so much new things to be destroyed by my hand =P

yes, this is indeed an awesome game, one of the best ive ever played, i went searching for another copy though, and the lowest i found it was around 70 bucks (for an effin PS2 game, im not spending THAT much money) but it was so fun, i only got to my 2nd playthough before it was stolen -_-;; if you can get your hands on this baby, its well worth the play
