Brigandine?
Has anyone ever heard of this game? I believe Atlus produced it but I could be mistaken. It was for the original PS and was one of the finest games of it's time... It's really old though..
I made a thread about the game when I first started posting at TFF and I only got one reply.. so hopefully this one will be more successful. ![]() My first user name, Meliegent, is actually from the game.. he was just a mini-character that had no real importance in the plot... I just liked the name. Oh well.. Any of you remember this classic..? http://www.atlus.com/boxart/Med/BrigFront.jpg Last edited by Strong Bad; 10-19-2005 at 10:22 AM. |

Yeah SB! I found my copy of Brigandine! w00t!
Yeah that game was off the heazy, and I remember that Meliegant dude, he was the one where his father was the king that allowed Lance to rule over for a while, yeah I hated Lance, but Meliegant kicked ass, cause of his Avenger class. That was tight. Idk why, but that game was always kicking my ass and jumping me at the last second. It was a pretty tactical game, even more strategy based then FFT, which on some degree I liked, but other times it made things frustrating, especially during battle. It was always hard for me to gain land and stuff, and if I just sat back and sent everyone on quests except for like 3 people who would defend the castles, then the AI would just go back and forth on taking land and stuff. My favorite ruler was Cai, cause he had some whoop-ass magic, and some powerful buddies to boot. Plus his country was easy to defend, cause you only need like 1-2 cities to defend. So, yeah! 3 cheers for Brigandine!!! ![]() |

YES! Finally someone who knows how awesome this game is! It's basically like Risk but you duke it out with 3 leaders and a shit-load of monsters! It's so much fun.
My favourite leader... was probably Zemekics or however you spell his name. Mainly because he was the Strongest and he started out with Cador on his team. Cador's so deadly! Death Knight Class. I actually liked Lance... He was pretty Strong for a begining character and was allied with Cai... I don't know how you could possibly be Cai though! It'd be so hard to beat the game! He starts with the least amount of land while Zemekicks on the other hand starts with the most! The only problem.. he's in the middle so you have to defend your castles from everyone! Pain in the ass. Dryst and Vaynard were sweet too.. I wasn't really a fan of Lioness though. I actually found some Brigandine Hentai once haha.. I wasn't lookin' or anything but I was like.. hey.. I recognize that skank that's bein' porked! That's Lioness! Yup... Such an amazing game! Mina and Millet were the deadliest twin sister combo... Wow, that game was so awesome. |

Yeah, Cai was fun to be as, b/c he had the one spell Geno Thunder, which hit every baddie on the map. It was a great starter move. Plus he had that one dude with him that was a super-strong Cavalier/Paladin maybe, can't remember. Having those two characters made the game pretty easy, plus I think one of the towns you can summon Angels from, and they're really tight with Divine Ray.
Dryst was pretty fun to play as too, as he was like a crazy-ass Kefka type leader. I also liked Iria and her whole story too. Vaynard was good too, and he had like a TON of awesome fighters on his side, but it was TOUGH to defend his country, as he had enemies everywhere, and right off the bat you needed to defend 4 cities. Lioness sucked, as just about all of her soldiers were like healers, and I preferred my monsters to heal, since soldiers can be super tough and upgradeable w/ items, branching off classes, etc.. I also remember one time finding the cheat to play as Zeckimis or whatever, that was a load of fun, but damn tough. You need a lot of land just for upkeep in his army!! I never played Lance's army much, but I bet it wouldn't be too difficult either way. So yeah. I got this game when I was really into strategy games. I think I got this for Christmas along with Master of Monsters, another fun and similar game to this one. But yeah, I'm glad I got it, because it had a good amount of challenge in it to play, plus some good replay value as well. |

There was no Brigandine for PS2... at least not that I know of... If they did make a remake or even a sequel, it'd probably be pretty snazy. Though, you have to admit, that for how early the Original game was made, It does have pretty good graphics. They're not good by today's standards but they're fairly decent. I mean, It has a sweet FMV movie thinger at the start that's all 3D and the battles between 2 monsters/characters are 3D also... It's just the map/battlefield that's a little more cartoonie. Oh well, I liked what they did with the graphics.
The music for the game was pretty good too... I believe you can listen to all the Midi's on gamefaqs.com or something along those lines. And yes, it does have extremely good replay value. No 2 games are the same.. Say Rocky.. have you ever played until you run out of time...? **SPOILER** If you don't achieve conquering the entire world in a certain amount of years the "Snakeof Choas" comes and destroys the planet.... Crazy eh? That ever happen to you...? Man... I wish I could get my hands on a copy of that game... ![]() |

SPOILER!!: But yeah, I've had some wierd things happen before. Just not that wierd. But it's sometimes hard to find out what triggers what, since the game is pretty subtle about the changes, in most cases. Like how Helrato joins up in the middle of a game to a random army is completely a mystery to me. Nonetheless, it makes things fun. |

Is Helrato the one with the Golden Dragon? I don't exactly remember the class but it's a character with some kinda Golden Dragon that joins one of the teams somewhere along the game. It's sweet how you know that someone else got 'er 'cause you'll end up battling the character sooner or later... It's also sweet that when you take over a country, you get all their monsters and a couple of their Knights! Man, that game is so awesome. |

And as for Helrato, idk for sure what his monsters were that he had with him, I just remember him as the samauri with only 1 eye. I think. And also, just by playing through the game, I learned that I should rather kill New Almekia's level 20 Salamander than Lance. Promoted monsters are not easily replaced, while leaders just need a period of one month to become active again. Also, as stated above, New Alemekia would have to compensate greatly to replace the Salamander, while losing Lance for a single fight does not have any serious repercussions. However, if your army can't afford to waste time killing monsters, target the leaders instead. When you kill a leader, there is a good chance that one of his monsters will be left behind. If the castle a retreating Knight is in is surrounded or blocked off from that country's other castles, then retreating leaders will have to initiate a Force Retreat. Force Retreats increase the chance of abandoned monsters by a LOT. For the best results with monster stealing, use Charm on the Knight or monster and kill 'em. |
