Media Playing Problems
Okay, here is a problem that I've had since before I got a new harddrive and one that started just today. First, the problem that has been going on is that all of my media players, except Winamp, were really skippy on music and videos. The other problem is that now Winamp is doing that stupid illegal operation thing everytime I try to open it.
Anyone know a solution to this problem that does not cost much (preferably none) money?

Yeah, pretty much. Defrag your computer, do all those routine scans for adware/spyware and all that. But yeah, the best thing to do would be to defrag.

I've done that, actually, I do it fairly often and it doesn't help at all. I got the Winamp problem fixed but the other problems are still there...All those other media players are playing at like doublespeed but skipping instead of streaming every millisecond together. Any other suggestions?

Is your computer's memory low? These newfangled movies nowadays use a heck lot of memory, causing your computer to become slow, which (oviously) makes your computer skip frames. Trust me. My computer used to do it.

I don't think it's the memory, I could run all sorts of movies on my computer, but now they are all jumpy, unless watched through winamp or flash. WMP, Quicktime, and DivX all are skippy, even with songs...

Video codecs, maybe?
Search for the XviD codec package, install it and FFDShow. If it's not that, I can't help you. Note; XviD likes to glitch a lot though Windows Explorer. Don't know why, never could fix it without switching to List view instead of Thumbnail view. |

Man just get the K-lite mega coden pack. That should fix the problem. Now I have a problem of my own...
I had to sell my PC when moving, and now I have to use this Mac, which I know little about, save what I've learned in the past few weeks on my own. But I have 2 questions: 1.) Are there any torrent apps I can use for te Mac OS X? 2.)Where can I get codecs to play certain file types (Mainly .avi. I can play them but the sound is jacked up) for the Mac OS X? Any help will not go unappreciated!
