Vb 3.5!!

Well after 3 hours of work, the forums are back up. A few things still need to be done, like HP bars, etc... but the beef of the forums are up and ready to go.

Two things to notice:

You'll have to reset your layout choice.
The outdated layouts are no longer available.

Before you start crying for the old ones, it was quite necessary to do. The old layouts had legacy code and lots of bugs. Rather than spending forever trying to salvage them, I cut the losses. Don't worry, we'll be adding more cool layouts as time goes by.

Jin - Thanks for pointing that out...I went down to do a quick reply, and it was GONE! It is back now though \=()

Plus I enabled a few features that I have noticed just from a quick glance of the new admin panel. There is now a # next to your rep. Plus users browsing current thread.

As far as everyone getting reset to the default layout, just scroll ALL the way down until you see the style drop-down menu at the bottom left...

I hope to move the old hacks and install new additions w/ merlin as we find time. For now, I'm glad we got 3.5 working and the move was smooth as SILK. Thanks merlin for the smooth move.

Woah I just noticed there's some new buttons in the edit box for creating messages. Pretty cool. No more scrolling for attachments, there's a button for it!

Once we get the extra features we had before back online, I can work on adding a few new things. I'm not going to load down the forums with hacks, like I always say.. but there are some interesting things I was looking at.

The main goal was getting the forums back up and running. The bells and whistles come next...

One question. I seem to be the only person (that I've found) that has the 'member' tag under my name and title. What's with that? I know I'm special, but I didn't think I was that special.

Fuzz is probably messing with the template to get that feature back up and running. Obviously, he's having a little trouble with it... LMAO!

The templates, along with the code, is different in many respects. We have to re-learn where certain things are. Jelsoft said it wasn't a big change on templates, but there are some key things that are screwy compared to what they were before. That doesn't mean that they are bad, just different.

Ah, yes, good to see it's up. It's funny -- remember how I said I'd be in class while you made your changes? I checked in the middle of class during a break, and the forums had JUST come back online. I'd already noticed the changes.

Different is good... sometimes. I'll have to readjust to things, but it's not like I'm doing any of the difficult work. Also, Merlin, check your TS PM box, as there's something I noticed that we may want to mask.

Yes, I know I'm double posting, but this is an issue I just figured out, and it's rather important.

The usergroup banners. I noticed that only members that have posted since the hack was placed back into the postbit are actually categorized in their posts. On top of that, the supermoderators (and the mods/admins will probably experience the same) are being listed in both the "S-Mod" and "Member" category. Fuzz, you need to clean that up so that only the higher-ranking category is shown, especially if you intend to move the usergroup bar back into the bars above each post. It could get quite cramped in there for those of us being shown in multiple groups.

Yeah, I'm still working on it. It is taking longer than I thought mainly due to how the code is done in vb3.5... all the common variables that I was used to have subtle changes, on top of that, I'm getting used to the new .php file structure they did.

I'm impressed w/ it though.

I managed to get the level, hp, and exp back... now, as you just mentioned Cesar, I have to fix those rank buttons... I'll post an update once I figure out what the problem is.

I also love this edit feature.

...yeah, and quite the interesting problem it is. You just posted, yet it didn't tack the admin OR member banned into your postbit. Whatever the issue is, it must not be affecting the administrator group... which means it's more complicated than it may seem.

I'm liking the in-post editing as well, but I'm hating that the page doesn't automatically refresh after posting with the quick reply. I keep double posting as well. Maybe after you figure out the usergroup thing, you can check out the QR settings?

ah-ha! I think I fixed it... There is a new maintenance option, so I did a rebuild on the user ranks and didn't stack them. I'll go ahead and fix the other styles.

As for the QR settings, can't find anything at the moment... It is super fast, but hey, I'm getting used to it... But I'll see if there is even an option for it.

Umm, there is something wrong in the Post Reply page. I always type in the Post Reply page rather than Quick Reply and so I noticed that it is converting all my "Enter's" "Return Keys" what you want to call it, as spaces. I typed up a long post with a long series of paragraphs and enters and when I posted it, it shows up as one long paragraph all the enters converted into spaces. I had to post it through the Quick Reply to get the Enters to work.
