05-06 TOA R3: Raine Ikazuchi v. BelleOfTheNight

Round technically starts tomorrow, but I encourage any sort of posting which begins today. Think of it as a day's extension. The round ends on Saturday, 15 October 2005, and there's no variance there. Any posts after that date (if I don't close the thread for some reason) will be discounted.

Anywho... as always, keep a keen eye on the rules, check out your opponent's character, and enjoy yourselves. It may be a tournament, but that doesn't mean it can't be fun. Remember to have descriptive attacks! It's an issue some of you have been having.

RAH!

Patient 520 snapped back into reality in a cold sweat. It seemed as though is opponent had not arrived to the last battle. Nonetheless, it was a relief to be free of that horrible environment on the other side of reality. However, he thought it funny in a way. How could the Unknown be comfortable in an environment which Patient 520 dreaded going, even in his mind.

The only thing that the two shared were a single mind. Both thought with the same mind, only each had access and restrictions to certain areas. It was enough to drive one mad to think about the entire concept. No harm to be done, he figured. For the first time since the tournament began, Patient 520 was allowed to leave the holodeck area.

The two guards from the hospital helped him from the table to his feet. Patient 520 paused for a moment. It had been so long since he stood that the blood had rushed back from his head, causing him to nearly pass out. After he regained composure, he was lead through the large and strangely clean metal doors and into a red hallway. Those who worked in this facility stared at him as he passed.

Patient 520 was afraid to hold eye contact with any of these people passing by. They stared as he hung his head in shame, looking at his feet as he walked slowly with the guards guidance. He was ashamed for how he was. The person he was now was not the person that he desired to be. He visualized again the image of being on the other side...to fit in with the motions of everyday life.

To be accepted as a person and not shunned as some lunatic. He didn't even feel insane anymore, though he never really did. Countless shrinks had told him that he would never realize that he was the way he was, but he was convinced otherwise. He was convinced that he was never really insane. Due to several doses of heavy sedatives over time, he had forgotten what had put him in the position he was currently in.

He spent many sleepless nights wondering why he was being treated the way he was. Did he have a family outside of the walls and the medication? Did anyone ever wonder where he was or if he was doing okay? There was only one way to find the answers to these questions. Win the Tournament of Arms and be released from this hell through a bet by those crooked guards who were leading him down the hallway.

They took him into two large metal doors similar to those which led to the holodeck area. It appeared as though it was a cafeteria. There were several employees from the facility sitting and helping themselves to the food. He thought he recognized a few of his opponents, but he was unsure of their faces because it was so dark and difficult to see fine details within the holodeck. One of the guards sat Patient 520 down at a table while the other went up to the counter to order food.

Patient 520 looked at his hands and the chains that kept his wrists from complete access to his surroundings. His eyes began to fill with tears as he thought about the results of losing the Tournament of Arms.

"Look's like you're going against some chick today, buddy. Should be an easy win for you, I'd think. Just what the hell is it that fights for you when you're in that room?" asked the guard.

Patient 520 looked at him, his eyes still tear filled. He softly placed his hands upon the table.

"I...I don't really know who it is." he replied.

The guard laughed at him for a moment. Patient 520 did not reply, but placed his hands in his lap and stared at them once again. Soon enough, the other guard returned with three brown paper bags containing three seperate lunches. The did not place the bags upon the table however. The two guards picked Patient 520 back up and placed him on his feet again and lead him out of the cafeteria.

He was escorted to a fenced in outside area. The area was vacant and had a few trees located just outside the fence. One could hear birds chiping and the sounds of traffic not far from this area. One of the guards led Patient 520 to the far corner of the area while the other stood in the doorway. The guard escorting Patient 520 loosened one of his wrist restraints to chain him to the fence post.

After he was secured, the guard turned and walked to the other guard in the doorway. "Oh, enjoy your lunch...freak." laughed one of the guards as he tossed one of the brown paper bags at Patient 520. The two guards slammed the heavy doors shut and Patient 520 was left alone. He sat still for a moment and then slid to the ground to sit. He leaned his head up and rest it against the fencing, looking into one of the trees.

He could see a family of birds above, the mother was feeding three baby birds. Patient 520 watched them peacefully for what seemed like hours before he reached down and carefully opened his bag of food. Inside was a piece of bread, a sandwich, a small milk, and a little slab of butter. He reached inside and pulled out the slice of bread, tearing it apart and tossing it between the gaps in the fence under the tree just behind him. He picked up his sandwich and began to eat with the most formal of manors.

The birds came soon after, eating at the bread chunks scattered about the ground. Patient 520 watched peacefully again. This was the first thing he had eaten aside from medication in close to a week. Plus, it was always felt nice to have company from the outside world. Any kind was more than enough to satisfy him.

Roughly an hour later, the birds had finally finished off the bread and left the area. Patient 520 spent as much time as he could soaking in the outside world, for he did not see it often. Everything was so refreshing to him and so peaceful. Peaceful enough for a nap it seemed, for he dozed off at some point. In what appeared to be deep sleep, he saw the Unknown.

His armor, weapons, and attire had not changed (The Cutter set), though he was in a different place now. It appeared as though the monster was now outside of the building he was in for the last round. Things were comforting inside compared to this. The tall, eerie hospital stood before him. Every light flickered from inside, revealing a horror inside.

There were patients, or what appeared to be at least, brutally murdering staff members in each and every one of the windows. One could hear the muffled screams of the victims from outside of the building. This did not bother the Unknown. The sky was the same as it was on one of the floors from inside the building. The moon shined a blood red and the clouds matched.

All of this was painted upon a pitch black night sky. The city was still silent and it seemed as though nobody was around for miles. Nobody but those inside that building, anyway. The wind blew through enough to give a person the chills. The Unknown approached the main door of the hospital only to discover that it had been heavily bound in thick chains and locks from the outside.

As he touched the chains, he could hear what sounded like a couple of people pounding and scratching at the other side of the door. They were crying in agony and begging for help from whatever was after them inside. This did not interest the Unknown in the least bit as he walked away. He turned the right hand corner of the building only to almost injure himself in a serious way. At his feet were several bear traps scattered randomly about.

What were these for? Perhaps just an interesting perk in this dream? No! It was clear now! This was no dream. This was the environment for round three in the Tournament of Arms!

While Patient 520 slept, he must have been taken back to the holodeck area and hooked up to those horrible machines again. The random and sharp objects about signified what was going on. The Unknown carefully walked through the bear traps and around the building. He arrived at the back where he could see two doors at an angle with the ground. He opened them and looked inside.

It was another operating room. He walked down the short stairs and examined the area. There were various sharp objects here and something that was not present last time...

Sedatives.

There was a large supply of sedatives in this room. Taking a mental note of this, he stuffed his bloody apron full of surgical blades again and pulled the doors closed to await his next victim. Perhaps he would have the patients to attack as suprise, but most likely not...

Her consciousness seemed to be slipping in and out of reality. She may have had the appearance of her alter-ego now, but she still had her frail body to tend with. Her mind had reached its limit at the last battle, which she had lost. It was no wonder that she lost though, she was competing against a Dark Elf, one of the best races of species ever created by Mother Earth. It was foolish of her to be cocky against him. It cost her the battle she needed to get a higher rank.

She went back to her hotel room across the street to rest her mind from the previous battle. The strenuous pressure on her mind was nearly at its peak. She fell asleep on her bed without changing her clothes and found herself dreaming. Her body made various twitches as the dream engulfed her mind.

Victoria was going out for a jog wearing a black sports bra and gym shorts. She had the world zoned out by her iPod mini. Which was a bad thing to do in that part of the neighborhood. What Victoria was unaware of, was that there was a silhouette of a person following her around each corner. They crept closer and closer until she was almost home again. Then they made their move.

They leapt out in front of her and tackled her down. She shrieked in horror from the attacker that came out of the blue. But if she hadn't been listening to her music, she would have noticed him right away. He pulled off her shorts and tore off her sports bra. She hit him and hit him and he wouldn't stop. Then she managed to kick him in the nads and shove him off. She ran down the sidewalk and went into her house. She slammed the door shut and locked it.

Her chest was moving rapidly from her constant breathing. Tears ran down her face as she fell on her ass against the door. She was scared shitless and she didn't know what to do. That's when a flash of her old alter-ego entered her mind. She remembered the last thing she said. She said she had to face a traumatic experience in order to achieve the last step. Maybe this was it?

The glass shattered and she screamed. She ran away from the door and locked herself in her room, covering herself with the covers. Her whole body was shivering with fear and anxiety. Her fingers kept twitching, like something was trying to release itself. She heard pounding on her door and started to breathe quietly so he couldn't hear her from the other side. The door was about to go off its hinges from the repeated pounding it received. It finally cracked open and he ripped the covers from her grip. Her fingers twitched nonstop now and to an amazement, her nails turned into claws. She scratched his face and tried her best to avoid him. If he got near her again, she'd slice him up.

This was it. This was the final ordeal for her to pass to truly become Victoria. Then as she was aiming to stab him in his chest, there was a bright white light, and she found herself at the entrance of a gloomy, eerie hospital. She shuddered at the scenery and headed towards the entrance. She noticed quickly that the door was locked with chains and locks. She smirked and thought that petty locks wouldn't keep her out. She leashed out her claws and used them as blades that immediately sliced through the rusty steel like it was cheese. She kicked the door open and went inside. There she found a very tall person that seemed monster-like. She looked at his attire and noticed he was dressed up like some sort of twisted doctor. She eyed his 4' blades and gulped down her saliva. She seemed to be equipped with her first weapon set. She had her belt equipped with the various pouches holding her shruiken and throwing daggers. She unleashed her sharp claws and was ready for action. She stayed at a cautious distance from him and kept her eyes both on him and the surroundings.

She waited to see what his initial action was. When he didn't do anything for a while, she made the initial move and dashed to him and leapt in the air, throwing a few daggers in his direction.

The sound of the wind howling, cutting around the large building was all that could be heard aside from the moans inside of the large hospital. As quickly as he had arrived to this place, the doors flung open and a slender woman lept towards him. This must have been his new opponent.

As she came leaping towards him, he drew both of his arms back to his sides, the blades pointing outwards. Just as he did this, he felt sharp pains in his chest. None of the pains seemed to serve as fatal, so for the moment, he did not check to see what was behind the sharp pains. His focus was on the woman in mid air, speeding towards him.

His arm blades to the side, he waited for her to get close enough so he could bring them in with a brutal quickness in a scissor-like motion. If this move were to follow through as intended, his opponent would be divided into two pieced on the ground below.

Medically speaking, if she were to be cut in half so quickly, her brain would not have time to compute the fact that she had been cut in half. As a result, for a few moments, she would look at her severed half in horror before dying of blood loss and lack of normal functions of her vital organs.

A brutal way to go, but a way to go nonetheless.

When the daggers landed at their mark, she seemed baffled at his unwavering concentration. It's like he didn't even feel them when they impaled his flesh. What kind of creature was this? He was big, tall, and from what it seemed, impervious to pain. This immediately caused anxiety in Victoria's mind, but she shook the thoughts and cobwebs away. She needn't lose focus here. Not now.

She took a moment and eyed him over, looking for any kind of weakness. She took note of the sedatives in the room for possible later use. But by the gods, if daggers couldn't phase him, what would? The next thing she tried, was at the moment her feet landed on the floor, she put pressure on them and made a mad dash towards him, keeping her eyes on his legs. With the basic strategy of the bigger body type in mind, she decided to try and take out his legs first and foremost. Because once those are gone, he won't be able to move around, and would become free pickings for her.

In the next moment, she threw six shruiken towards his thighs and kneecaps. While they surfed in the air, she jumped straight to the ceiling and bounced off like a spring, heading straight down to her target, unleashing her claws to cut open his head.

Victoria had dodged the attack that he had planned and now set on another course of action. He now had six shruiken speeding towards his legs and his opponent coming down from above him. He had to act fast with this woman or she would cut him apart.

He would first deal with the shruiken. He quickly swung one of his blades at them, knocking several of them to the ground. Two caught him on the outside of the thigh. One just cutting, the other sticking. He had luckily deflected all but two of them and one only caused severe pain, though did not prevent him from moving.

Now to deal with the wretched woman, he thought. It all happened so fast. She was by far the quickest enemy that he had battled so far. The Unknown quickly shot his right arm straight out, holding it so that the blade pointed directly at Victoria's stomach. The reach of the blade was 4', which is longer than a human arm. If she was to come down all the way, she would make contact with his face, but she would in turn suffer a mortal wound. His opponent would be impaled by the blade on his arm.

But this was not enough to teach such a woman. As he held his left arm up with intentions of Victoria impaling herself on his arm blade, he swung his right arm blade hard towards the side of her ribcage. Today, the Unknown seemed fascinated with splitting this opponent in half, as he tried once more.

The Unknown had not drawn nearly enough blood for his own liking thus far in the tournament. This irritated him greatly, though he pushed this emotion to the side. He knew it would come eventually. If not with his current opponent, the next would suffer more if fate allowed it.

With each match which he did not draw enough blood, his anger and irritation grew. His fascination with gore and human anatomy swelled. The twisted thoughts stirred more and more as he thought of these things.

"What kind of creator would allow such a monstrosity to even exist in another world seperate from our own? His sick and twisted mind sees no remorse for his actions and does not care about the lives of others. He will take those lives without second thought...sometimes with no reason or motive! Most of us who live in isolation reach out for someone to be around at some point. This monster does not seek compassion nor friendships. Isolation is what he prefers, it is where he feels most comfortable. Is this why he kills? So that nobody will be around him? I think not! He kills because he is a god damned monster! His goals are unhonorable and sickening to say the least! Just thinking of what he could be doing in there gives me nightmares! And what happens if something goes wrong and that ugly son of a bitch gets out?! He'll kill us all, you fool!" exclaimed the Mayor of the city in which the TOA was being held.

He had barged in just minutes after reading the entry papers for Patient 520. The description of his alter ego had caught the Mayor's attention so much that he had done research on it. He had found the mental hospital's studies on this "Unknown". He had even seen pictures of this horrible creature. This had existed long before Patient 520 had entered the tournament.

"You're all dead! He'll murder us all in ways so gruesome that it's beyond one's imagination! Even him! He will die just the same as you and I!" exclaimed the Mayor as he pointed at Patient 520, who was currently in battle.

"I want him removed from this battle RIGHT NOW!" he exclaimed.

The head of holodeck safety approached the Mayor. The man was wearing a clean, white lab coat and had shoulder length, curly blonde-ish hair. His silver name tag shined in the glow of the machines in the darkened room. It read "Cesar", followed by an engraved logo of the company which hosted the tournament.

"Mr. Mayor. I appreciate your concerns, however, I can assure you that everything will be fine. But you are disrupting the tournament by coming in here in such a fuss. You and I both know that this corporation is more powerful than the law of this city itself. I'm afraid I am going to have to have you removed from the grounds." said Cesar calmly.

As he said this, two large men in black uniforms approached the mayor, grabbing him by the arms and dragged him out of the doors.

"YOU'RE ALL DEAD! YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHAT IS COMING FOR YOU ALL!" screamed the Mayor from the hallway.

"What an idiot..." chuckled Cesar.

He began inspecting various machines within the darkened room, jotting down notes on his clipboard. All was quiet and in order once again.

Immediately she saw one of his blades fly straight up as she was free-falling towards him. Luckily her feet landed on the side of the blade and she used it as a platform and pushed herself at an even faster speed. The other blade came at a surprising angle and it barely missed her fatal area of the rib cage. She winced a bit as she felt the cut, but didn't let it deter her concentration.

Instead of cutting his head, she thought of another idea that hopefully would work. She took out one of her daggers and held tight onto the hilt of it. As she sped towards his head, she brought down the hilt of the dagger down so fast like it was a sledgehammer. Hopefully the effect would cause his ears to ring for a long period of time and to cause a distortioning headache.

Jay, please don't let me forget to actually write up the review for this. I've got a bunch of notes and such, and after second opinion it's agreed that BelleOfTheNight is the victor (sorry mate), but I can't concentrate long enough to put it all into pretty little words for all to see.

Of course, if neither of you really wants a full review, that'd be great. I'm swamped, heh. I'll still do it if you want though.

Erm, basic overview, both of your posts were really good this time. BOTN just had the edge in categories like flow and description. It was a close one, but not quite close enough for a tie. That's why I had to wait for a second opinion, just to be sure on it.

BOTN +2
RI +0

Now I need to alter the standings for Trev's dropout and start the new round.
