FFIV Announced for the GBA

Quote:
September 14, 2005 - Nintendo of America has announced that the company will publish Final Fantasy IV for the Game Boy Advance / Game Boy Micro this holiday season.

Final Fantasy IV is the Japanese name for what was released in the US as Final Fantasy II, the first Super NES version of Square's immensely popular RPG series. Though the game's main design -- including 18 towns and castles, dozens of spells and hundreds of monsters -- remains intact in the move from SNES to GBA, additional game elements unique to the handheld version have been added to the production.

Nintendo released the original Final Fantasy and the Japanese Final Fantasy II on the GBA in the US as Final Fantasy I & II: Dawn of Souls in 2004. Nintendo of America will release Final Fantasy IV for the GBA on December 12th.
From IGN

What I find weird is that the announcement is coming from Nintendo and not Square. I have the feeling though it'll be based off the Wonderswan Color version just like Origins/Dawn of Souls are. Rosa's new sprite in the game sure is pretty, I think it would be cool if they redid the portraits though.

And where the hell is FFIII already?

Like all the other converts I've said.

"No damn rush!?"

FFIV was released way over 10 years ago, you think during that time they would have done this in advance.. atleast, when the GBA was released.. heh. Damn Nintendo, but yes I agree with you there -> you think that Square would announce it wouldnt you? as opposed to Nintendo. I couldnt find any of the snapshots you mentioned in your post though, care to link?

And yes, I demand FFIII.

*slams fist on desk*

RAWR!

I'm starting to wonder if Nintendo announced it because Square decided to just give permissions and have nothing further to do with the project, leaving all of the gritty work to Nintendo's production teams. It is, after all, a legitimate concept.

Anywho, I started replying to this last night until I found myself at a sudden loss for words. I'll certainly buy the GBA cartridge *cough*downloadtheROM*cough* when the game is released. And ignore that little cough thing... I do, after all, own the FFT:A cartridge. I have a strange affinity for handhelds.

Yes, FFIII for the DS was announced ages ago. WHERE THE FACK IS IT?!

ah, Cain you beat me to posting the news, haha... anyways - I just linked the news index directly to this thread, no point in having 2 threads for the purpose.

Regardless - this is GREAT NEWS. I will definately buy it, for the main purpose of owning every FF released. I haven't played FFIV in a couple of years, so it will give me a chance to replay it w/ new graphics, etc. Wonder if there are going to be any other additions, like DOS did with the extra dungeons and enemy kill list.

I think nintendo and square are friends again. Because look, they made final fantasy 1&2, ff t a, now they are making a new mana game, and ff iii, and ff iv. Thats what I think why square is letting nintendo have their games on the handhelds.

yayyy

I am currently playing Final Fantasy:Chronicles(FFIV&CT) and I am in da underworld so I won't rush to buy it.But yeah I think Nintendo and square r partners again or they really wouldn't release so many Square Enix games 4 Nintendo unless they were partners(thats the way it supposed to be).
I still say that if square and Nintendo are totally joined (i.e not publishing games on Sony) they should do something like remake FF IV,V and VI on Revolution with 3D graphics.Ahhhhh.Rosa in (great) 3D graphics, the joy (have u ever seen the official screenshot of Rosa?!).Rydia's Shoukanjuus in 3D.Ohhh and with 3D graphix,V would become a FFX-2.I'd like to see Bartz in a Summoner Robe .And ahhh yes our dream....FFVI in 3D.Oh well seems I've strayed.Good luck to FFIV on GBA I'll be lookin out

Yeah... no. Square-Enix still has its loyalties with Sony for the upcoming generation of consoles. Expect 90% of their games to be released on the PS3.

And once again the loyal fans are screwed. All the people who were big enough fans to get the game in FF Chronicles or origionaly for the SNES now have to buy the game again if they want these extra things that are offered in the hand held version. This is Dawn Of Souls all over again.

I don't know why everyone is mad about the rerelease, it is a great thing to play this amazing game once more with extra features, plus what's the harm in buying it again??

The changes are so unnoticable that the only people that will actually get them will be the diehard fans of the game. The dialogue was touched up, the pictures were updated, etc. The music, the sounds, the difficulty.. those stay the same. The addition of the 50 Level Dungeon is the only major change that I have even heard of. And that is only after you beat the game.

I myself bought the game a day after it was released and I like it. There isn't much difficulty, but now I can play it on the go. If.. I ever need to do so. Cause I don't really go much anywhere.
