I dunno...Ragnarok's big, strong, and cool looking, but it is quite slow. Highwind beats it in speed, and it also has a "escape" mechanism. But I'm more into either the Invincible from FF9 or the Falcon from FF6. The Invincible can also go into space, and it is faster and more cool looking. Yet, I have something for the Falcon that makes it my favorite Airship. And that fact is that it is the fastest Airship available. Pre-FF7 airships are really fast (dunno if it is because the games are for the SNES that they were meant to be fast), faster than post-FF7 airships. Strangely, those airships were more ship looking, and mostly were helicopter-looking or zeppelin-looking. I wonder really why they were faster. Anyways, my vote goes for the Falcon, followed by the Invincible of FF9 (since there was an Invincible on FF2, or so I think).

I cant name more then one as being the "Greatest", but, my preffered Airships would be;
• (The) Lunar Whale • Falcon • (The) Invincible Reasons for both; Lunar Whale (FFIV) has its own Fat Chocobo (Storage for excess Inventory items), and a free Inn to restore HP/MP. Plus the ability to travel inbetween Earth and the Moon in almost an instant. Not bad, overall. The Falcon (FFIV) was very fast, and later in the game had the ability to drill through the surface of the Earth, and it was part of the Red Wings. The Invincible (FFIIIj) was actually a sloth, but, when you encountered enemies in the Air.. it would start the fight by firing its main cannon hitting all monsters on the field. Back inside there were 5 Shops (Weapons, Armour, Magic, Items/Items) for you to get equipped and back into action. If you didnt have equipment, that is. Heh. Also included was a Fat Chocobo and a free Inn for restoring HP/MP. Had the works that one did! damn. Loved them all, woot.

The Highwind could carry chocobos and all sorts, it was so badass inside, and came with a crew.
Ragnarok looked cool. But was empty and crappy. The Invincible sucked for the sole reason you couldn't use it's eye beam and nuke Memoria and the Lifa Tree. FFX's airship was...weird. Where the hell was the cockpit meant to be? Seriously, look at the ship and the cockpit view and try and find a match. |

I think the Highwind was an uber airship.
When it got all badass on 3rd disc, that was so rad. I loved the theme for it too. ![]()

Well the Ragnarok looked cool as **** and had an awesome name but its functionality sucked hardcore old man ass. The Highwind was much cool on this aspect and it had an actual trained crew as apposed to the Ragnarok which Selphie magically knew how to fly. It also had the high speed mode and the escape pod design incorporated. Had it had a huge array of guns it would have been elite. Oh and you can park your custom (pimp my Chocobo) Chocobos in the Highwind. Only thing that actually failed was a store of some sort (and I dont mean some guy standing there like what Owaka always did in FFX).

...though considering how the Ragnarok seems to have a infinite power source, and it is rarely used on outer space, it might be able to use their thrusters with no trouble. Also, noticed how the Ragnaroks' launches were assisted? They activated their thrusters on mid-air, instead of on land, which requires more power. P.S. Kenji, guess you didn't used Selphie too much, right? Not only her, but Quistis knew magically how to fly it, and I believe Irvine or Zell knew too. The only non-pilots are Squall and Rinoa. The Ragnarok was the most awesome by looks and interior but The Highwind was by far the fastest. It was too fast for my liking since it gave me headaches, but yeah, I'd go with the Ragnarok because its pretty much a nice (granted, disgustingly slow) machine.
