Scheduled Downtime

On Thursday, the forums will be offline starting at 8AM(EST) for maintenance and upgrades. This process should take no longer than a few hours. Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause you. This is not something that can be rushed. I will keep you updated on any changes and a more definitive end time as my progress continues. Thanks.

Good deal. So, is this the update that you've been working on for the past few months, or something trivial like moving to vB v.3.0.7? Hopefully, it's the former. I'm anxious to see the finished product.

Actually, it's been cancelled... since Fuzz didn't renew the license like I told him to. He insists that since it's "owned" we can download the latest stuff, etc even though it is expired. Well, no you can't. That's why there's a fricken RENEW thing! So yeah... I can't even download the newer version because he didn't do what I asked. We go through this every year.

Heh, I was under the impression that he bought the lifetime license this past time. I remember talking to him about it... about how paying 2.5x the cost for a lifetime license would be a whole lot easier than paying 1x the cost every single year for... how many years has TFF been on vB now? Four?

It clearly says you still have to renew it every year if you want to download the latest version, etc... it only costs you $30.00 a year instead. I told him this months ago. Are you sure you were clicking on the correct license #...? There are 2 listed in the members area. I just went there and it worked... I downloaded the full version of vb 3.0.7 w/ no problems. The owned licence gives you access to upgrades, etc... I think the only thing we need to renew the 30.00 license for is for the members area support.

Where exactly did you go to try to download the new version? I'm not sure what the problem can be... if you can't find it again, I can always just send you the zip of 3.0.7. I remember we decided not to renew b/c we felt like the member services wasn't 100% necessary, but if you think it is, we should reconsider... Glad to see we're going to be installing the new version though, i'm excited, plus we have the new design to work on when I get back home this weekend.

3.0.7 was released in February, which is right before the license expired. The latest version is 3.0.8 and 3.5 RC2... which is clearly marked in the Members Area. My point still stands... I cannot download the newest version of vB.

Ah, well then, that does make more sense... I will be sure to renew our years service license this weekend, I think I have the $$$ to spare, plus I want you to update the forums w/ whatever you want.

Sorry for the confusion... I was just lost when I was able to d/l a copy of VB. I didn't think of if it was the most RECENT or not, I have been out of the loop w/ what version is out or not.

On another note... after the upgrade, how many hacks/additions are compatible with 3.5 rc2 right now? There are a few things I wanted either you or I to add later down the road.

UCash for one is already compatible, along with the major stuff I wanted to do. They don't have UStore on it, but we dont use that anyways.. The hack automatically updates the tables, etc to the newer UCash version. The new hack system is da shit...

ah, yeah... I remember that there is a new bad-ass hack system on 3.5 that I have heard of. Can't wait for that, now we can over-saturate the forums w/ hacks more easily (j/k)

I'll grab you on AIM or email when I get home and I'll let you know when I have renewed the license (which by the WAY is bullshit for VB to do.... pshhh, 'renewing' a license, i mean cmon!)

I'd say "they got to make $$ somehow" but damn... they make an ass of money as it is. I won't be able to work on it until late Saturday... I've got work all day tommorrow and Saturday. Hence why I was going to do it today... heh. O.o

Today at 6:30PM EST, the forums will be offline while the software is updated and layouts tweaked to function as originally intended.

This downtime will only affect the forums and not the main site. When the forums are back up and running, there will be a topic explaining new features, etc.
