Dear Friends: Music from Final Fantasy

I know this shud probubly be in the music forum, but this sort of topic dosent realy fitin there with all the posst about new bands and the latests songs ect. I felt I would get a beter responce by posting here. Sorry.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Anyway, Just yesterday I went to the finalperformance of the Dear Friends: music from Final Fantasy concert at the Max M. Fisher Music Center in Detroit. It was played by the Detroit Symphony Orchestra and cunducted by Arnie Roth. It also stared the Stoney Creek High School Chamber Singers, how might I add did a FBULUSE job singing Liberi Fatali (opening from FF8) and One Winged Angel (Sepheroth boss music).
the line up of songs is as follows.
Liberi Fatali ----- FF8
To Zanarkand ----- FF10
Terra's Theme ----- FF6
Dear Friends ----- FF5
Vamo'alla Flamenco ----- FF9
Love Grows ----- FF8
-Intermission-
Aeris's Theme ----- FF7
You're Not Alone ----- FF9
Ronfaure ----- FF11
Final Fantasy 1-3 Medley ----- A colage
Cloud Smiles ----- FF7: Advent Children
Final Fantasy ----- The main theme
An Enchor was doen at the end of "One Winged Angel ----- FF7"
All this was composed by "Nobuo Uematsu"
The concert was amasing with a CG movie that went with the playing of the music. For this one day it was ok to rock the walls of the theatre when fans dressed in casual cloths, suits, and character outfits chered at the sean of Sepheroth wallkin through flames with a sidistike look on his face as the band and choris played the Sepheroth theme with evil emotions. It sent chills through my body as the CG faded out to show the serious looks on the chois' faces and on Arnie Roth who looked like he was going to atack with a giant Masamune . Words can't realy disscribe the expirence. The was also stuff for sale too. I got It all. A T-shirt, a special program with info on the music and the games, and a limited adition poster SIGNED BY: Nobuo Uematsu!!! Arnie Roth was also signing stuff so I had my Special program signed.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
So did anyon else on this site goto the concert? What did You think. Tell me anything that you hered from orthers that were there.

...This would go in General Final Fantasy.... not in the Intellectual Discussion. >.>
But no, I didn't go. I've never even heard of it, to be honest with you.

Gotta love it when you post a thread elsewhere and you already know exactly wher it should be.

And Jay, this goes in my Gaming Media forum, not Gen FF. >_>;

Anyhow, that last sentence...

the sean of Sepheroth walkin through the flames with a sidistike look on his face?

The scene of Sephiroth walking through the flames with a sadistic look, maybe.

sean spells Sean, as in Shawn, as in my name. >:O

Great going, Sean. =\

Anyway, I went to the Dear Friends Concert in Universal City, California. The line-up was different, since The Black Mages (with Uematsu) were able to make it there, as well as RIKKI and Emiko Shiratori who sung Suteki Da Ne and Melodies of Life, respectively. Uh...The line up was:

--

Opening - Bombing Mission (Final Fantasy VII)
Aerith's Theme (Final Fantasy VII)
Zanarkand (Final Fantasy X)
Don't Be Afraid (Final Fantasy VIII)
Terra's Theme (Final Fantasy VI)
Swing de Chocobo (Final Fantasy Series)
FINAL FANTASY (Final Fantasy)

--Intermission--

The Rocking Grounds (Final Fantasy III)
Maybe I'm a Lion (Final Fantasy VIII)
Suteki Da Ne [Isn't It Wonderful?] (Final Fantasy X)
A Place to Call Home - Melodies of Life (Final Fantasy IX)
OPERA "Maria & Draco" (Final Fantasy VI)
Encore - One-Winged Angel* (Final Fantasy VII)

*Performed by both the World Festival Symphony Orchestra and the Black Mages at once, with CSUF University Singers on vocals. They didn't sync correctly once or twice, it was interesting. =P

--

So yeah, very great show. Probably the first concert I've ever been to, too, so yeah. Very nice.

...then how come you voted "no" on your poll?

Anywho, I absolutely love most of the Final Fantasy music, and if the concert ever comes to Bass Performance Hall in Fort Worth, I'm definitely there. Unfortunately, I was nowhere near any of the performance venues this time around, and wasn't about to spend hundreds of dollars in travel just to do so.

I would have loved to have seen it but it doesnt exactly hit anywhere close to where I live. But I will say that I woulve gone had it been in my area and had I had money. Well I guess I wouldnt have gone after all since I lack the latter.

Thanks!! It was a lot of fun! This is probably the wrong forum to say this in, but Id never heard of Final Fantasy until I got the two pieces: Now Im not quite obsessed, but Ive rekindled my inner gamer, and lets leave it at that.To tell you the truth, that was hard. Very very hard. More difficult than the Star Wars ones we did simply because I nearly went deaf from the percussions!!

It was an awe-inspiring moment during One Winged Angel. Absolutely stunnning. It made it hard to sing because the passion in the air was so thick. Not kidding... I didnt even get why until after, when my friend (who has imported all of them) explained it to me. Wow... amazing!

Yes!.
I went to the first one, at the Walt Disney Concert Hall.
We bought the tickets a mere half hour after they went on sale, since we were worried that they were going to be sold out pretty fast (and they did, in three days, in fact) we were sitting on the first row a few seats to the right from the two middle ones, and I've got a nod from Mr. Amano, himself, when him, Sakaguchi and Uematsu went on stage.
Maybe he thought it uncongruous to see middle aged people sitting on first row, dunno.

It was really nice, so nice, that my husband, who doesn't know anything about the FF series got excited and had a lot of fun, too, even when he didn't understand the cheering surges that happened here and there.

I wish I could've gone... but I'm in Scotland, of course, so nothing ever comes near where I live. And I'm not allowed to travel.
