The NEXT Next Generation Consoles!

Well, with the onslaught of the upcoming three consoles and the hefty price tags on all of them, which one makes you want to shell out the cash the most?

Nintendo Revolution, most definatly for me. I do believe it'll be the cheapest of them all, plus the ROM support and backwards compatibility of it, not to mention I'm a diehard Nintendo fan make this all seem the clear choice for me.

That and Nintendo seems to be the only one bothering to come up with a new name. Microcrap just added 360 and Playstation upgraded to 3. I find that a bit.... boring. I'm sick of saying "PSX" and "PS2" but now I have to say "PS3" along with them.

The letters P and S put together are getting old.

At least with the XBOX 360 you can call it the 360 for short. You can't say "3" and people know you're referring to the PS3 as easily as 360 meaning the new XBOX.

I'm honestly surprised this thread didn't exist sooner. I would've done it myself if I weren't MIA for the past six weeks.

Let's see.
XBox 360, last I'd heard, is scheduled for this winter at $475.
PS3, last I'd heard, is scheduled for Fall 2006 at $450.
Nintendo ___, last I'd heard, is scheduled for Winter 2006 for $300.


Take a wild guess where my intense lack of money will go. Nintendo, all the way. I don't even mind having to pay for all of those previously released titles. They're talking about bonuses when you buy new games, possibly granting 3-5 titles for download with purchase of a game. That's freaking awesome. Seriously.

I want a ****ing videogame system.
Not a DVD/MP3/PC/doesmytaxes/cleansmyhouse system.

Hmmm, perhaps the PS3. Nintendo surprised me with the fine proposal of DL'ing old games, which means that all the plethora of videogames from the NES and SNES will be available (again). But, I did my choice because I don't know what will be Nintendo's proposal to the RPG players' market, since Sony hogged it all. Though, that new Legend of Zelda looks awesome, and more mature (not resting any merits to Wind Waker, it is a fine game too). And Microsoft? A buggy superhardware system is definitely not for me. Though, due to my current lack of funds, I'll wait until the systems get at least half the price, though less than $190.00 will be much better.

My thoughts exactly, but I'm pretty sure the Revolution is going to be much cheaper like $150-200. That's what I thought I heard.

In my opinion I would get the PS3 since Square Enix are developing games for it, games like *something* Odyssey(forgot wat it was called) and the remake of FF7 comes out for the PS3. But, it costs a lot of money jus to buy the console, *sigh* maybe I should get a job. T_T

Most likely Revolution. At this point, their idea of online gaming has me sold...And there isn't much more to say.

Honestly though, all three consoles don't have a lot to say right now. Sony and Microsoft have released their specs...But I'm not hyped up over specs, and hearing about the next Dead or Alive doesn't really say much either. Just about the same with Nintendo. The idea of online gaming is nice, but I'm waiting for the actual games to surface.

Until then...Yeah. Hypothetically, I could just buy two of the three that offer the most. The only problem is that at least two of the three consoles are going to be very expensive. It's not like before. =\

I'm staying true to Sony, backwards compatability with all its prior platforms gets my vote (makes me wonder if it'll be able to use "backups"), aswell as their new games I guess. I may be behind in the news but ehh was there a new FF planned for the PS3? or its only staying at FFXII for now?

Nintendo all the way for me. I've gone with most of their systems, and they've never steered me wrong in the past. That and the fact that they serve hardcore gamers like myself a great deal more than the other systems do makes this one a must have. Sony, I despise, for reasons I'm not going to go into here, and Microsoft has yet to impress me to the point where I'd be willing to buy their system. My only big complaint about Nintendo is that they're a little short on the console RPG's, but hey, that's what my GBA is for.

Where did you get this information? It seems to be a little on the high side to me. I'd say that the only one that would have the prices finalized at this point in time would be Microsoft, and even that seems extraodinarily high. Assuming that these prices are true, however, the Xbox 360 could very well be heading towards an early death. They're already falling into the same trap that played a large role in the death of Sega's consoles, and with prices that high, Microsoft will have very few supporters.

I get my info straight from the source ("the source" being Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo). $475 is a confirmed number for Microsoft as of the last monetary plans I'd seen. Granted, I've been out of the loop for about five weeks, but those are the projected prices. I haven't seen anything new regarding sale price from any of the three companies, so I'm sticking by those numbers for now.

I do, however, expect Sony and Nintendo both to lower their projections as their systems come closer to release... next year.


My buddy Joe and I were talking about Nintendo's next console. Granted, LAN parties with 16 people playing Halo are fun, but does anyone here REALLY think that could even begin to hold a candle to an eight-man Smash Bros. match? Or sixteen?

Nintendo may be "childish" in the eyes of some people, but those same "childish" games are the most entertaining games I've ever played in my entire life, and I've got a good seventeen years of gaming under my belt. When it comes to multiplayer titles, Nintendo has always come out on top.

The introduction of online gaming only makes it sweeter.

I get the feeling that the former of the two is what will happen, though. Especially if X-Box 360 is also going in the $450-$500 range.

What i have to say is why? look at FF12 screen shots and then look at games like Halo 2 even treir new maps are better in the grafics department. I mean its been 6 years since the xbox and ps2 came out and i really dont think we need the new systems.sure there a little better but that no reason to shell out 300 bucks they should what a couple more years befor they start making these great systems outdated becouse there is so much more they could do with them if they just got of there lazy asses.
