ff1:best starter class
what do you think the best starter class is.
I say thief. though he starts out weak,he seems to gain more out of each level he gains the rest.

I think this really depends on the version you play.
In the Dawn of souls version, the thief is stronger than in the OG. Meanwhile, a character like a knight is great all around. A knight is the only character that can equip the Excalibur, making him an offensive wrecking machine, or using the ultima weapon. Also, they can use level 1-4 white magic spells, even though this may seem not really great, can be really helpful if you need some extra healing power. A monk is a great character, who can easily dish out 2000 damage a turn, making the game easy. However, the monk (or black belt I believe it was called in the OG) cannot use any sort of magic, making him somewhat undesirable. The black and white mage are very similar. Very powerful magical abilities, able to use the best spells in the game, however, very weak physically through the entirity of the game. Red mage is a good character, good with weapons, able to equip powerful weapons, and can use up to level 7 of both black and white spells. Somewhat low MP and magic however, so a redmage is almost a better attacker. That being the case, I'd rather just have another knight in my party. Thief is strong, they can equip powerful knives and katanas, so they are very good attackers. As an added plus, they have level 1-4 black magic at the change. This is really good because it's a huge advantage to you to have another character with the Haste + Temper combo. My choice: Knight, followed closely by the Thief. |

Basically, a redmage is there for the people who want both white and black magic, but also want to have a real offensive attacking party.
Think red mage, think: Black Mage + White mage + Warrior= red mage |

I choose Warrior, White Mage, Monk & Red Mage.
I choose a White Mage because Red Mages may have both Black and White magics but their magic seems slightly weaker than a typical mages because they also have a fairly good attacking power too. I choose Monk basically for backing up the Warrior. |

my party was a worrior, red mage, white mage, and a theif. the red mage is highly underestimated if you have a white mage let him take care of the white magic and the reb mage with the black. The only difference is that a red mage cannot learn the level 8 spells. He also can equip swords and armour! and before im done the black belt is the most worthless job in RPG history!

Yeah, the Warrior/Knight is so dominant to the rest of the classes that you really just can't go past it.

I love thieves in the whole FF series but in FFI I'd have to choose Fighter. He has the most strength. Monk's are strong too but I don't believe the saying how they get stronger than your Fighter's. Thief is good when he's a ninja but that's upgraded. I guess I'll just pick Fighter..

I first played the game with a party of warrior, monk, white mage and black mage but these mages stink when it comes to offense so i changed my party having two warriors and two red mages. Not bad ay...having two warriors for offense and red mages for support and attack. But the best character is oviously the warrior!definetly!

here's the party i'm using atm in dawn of souls:
Tony/Warrior (lv.60) Roger/White Mage (lv.47) Pascal/Black Mage (lv.53) Max/Fighter (lv.56) i chose 2 warriors to give me a little boost of atk if ever something was to happen.the white mage with curaga(or curaja) help a lot and the black mage well,he rocks lol. but overall i'm for warrior and black mage(they help a little) try playing a game with 4 black mages every1,you won't regret it after you get your class change ![]() |
