A way to get stuck in FF 2?

I'm playing the Final Fantasy II remake on the "Dawn of Souls" title. I believe I have found a way to get stuck, and am wondering if I'm just missing something, or if I actually broke the game.

Okay, I had to go to Bask to stop the Dreadnought from being completed. Alas, they complete it! So I must hurry back to Altair, right? I was feeling lazy, so I paid Cid to take me to Altair on his airship. Darn, too late! Now I have to go back and talk to Cid in Poft... but.... umm....

The sea ship is back at Poft. And... I can't get there. I have no apparent mode of transportation to that continent. Has this happened to anyone before? Is there a way to get the ship back? Please help! >.<

I know for a fact that you can walk to Poft from Altair. That's all one continent. All the boat does is eliminate the needless walking time.

Ah, thanks. I hadn't noticed that it was one giant connected continent. I've been tending to not go exploring unless I have to because of the random encounters with super beefed up monsters.

if your afraid of super beefed up monsters make sure you have a super beefed up team.

You can get stuck

i should know. after i got the ship for traveling i was floating around and had to save, so i hoped of at the next island to save witch happened to be mysidia. when i came back i loaded my game but since there was an encouter point right were i was i trust me into a battle right when the load was done! now my guys were good but the monsters here were very beefed up and i cannot win no matter what i do ! so i had to start over!!! the same thing happend to me i got stuck in an encounter point in the mythril mines !!! does this happen to any one else were the battle happen over and over agian on encounter points! i have tried every thing its not my system or game ...

I just finished FF2 on Dawn of Souls, so it is still fresh in my mind...

I recall having the same sort of things happening to me too. I would save the game and then get in an encounter and die. I would then reload the game and get caught in the 'same' spot. This would happen over and over again. The only hope you have is to escape or get caught by some semi-less-tougher enemies that you might have a chance to beat.

Sort of a weird problem though, I know.

On a side note - If anyone has a problem with the last boss, the Emperor, just equip the blood Sword on Firion and it will be a pieace-of-cake, trust me... Other wise I would cross your fingers on beating him.

The only thing I could tell the both of you is to know where the tough monsters in the game appear, and don't go there until you are sure you're strong enough to. Mysidia is a good example because I believe there are Lamia queens there, which really make me mad.If you can easily take them down in one hit, then you can easily level up there.

Speaking of the blood sword- where the hell is it? I could never get it in the game.

I don't know if you'll remember this, it depends how long it has been since you've played, heh. But before you go to the cyclone just outside of the restored Fynn Castle, talk to Paul before you leave (he is in the bottom left house of the Fynn Town)

He will say something like "Oh, before you go, please take some treasures I have found before" then he will tell you his secret stash is somewhere behind the bed... The blood sword is in one of the treasure boxes, along with some other fairly decent items.

How the heeeeeeeck did you beat the Emperor with out it??? I thought I leveled up a good amount, but w/o the sword equiped, he kicked my ass.

ohhh, thanks for that.

Yeah, the emperor. I basically had to max everything out to beat him without the blood sword. Everyone had over 9000 HP, 900 MP, Firion had an almost 4000 damage ultima. Maria and Guy both had level 16 Flare spells, and Ricard cured every round. Still really hard though.

Yeah, I figured that all the characters had to have extreme stats. My Ultima was at level 5, haha, the highest magic spell I had was like level 10.

I knew I was in trouble when my spells and hits were taking roughly 200 - 400 hp a hit... then the blood sword was like 3000 - 4000 a HIT! made it a BREEEEEZE.

On another note - don't mean to get off topic, but ANGEL OF DEATH... did you get that name from the kick ass slayer song?? IF SO, rock on! Not enough SLAYER heads these days.

The first time I went through the game, the only spell I REALLY used was cure, and it was level 15 on all characters. But when I got to the final boss, he completely raped me. I found out that you really need magic in the game, because until then, I barely got by with only physical attacks. When I went through it again, I really tried having a balanced party, both magic and physical. It worked like a charm.

lol i never use magic and thanks for the info. How long did it take you guys to beat the game cuz i have no patience and it took me an hours to make my characters better and i thought this game wasnt that good ! was it just me or what.

It took me easily 80 hours to get through the game, but that's me almost maxing out every stat in the game.I'm starting a new game now, I'm about 7 hours in (because I'm maxing out shields, and trying to get my weapon levels high) and I hjaven't even started the Mythril mission yet.

80 hours! whew. Was that on Dawn of souls or the original? It took me about 20 hours, but I didn't really spend all that much time building stats, plus as I mentioned earlier, I had the blood sword. Dawn of souls made the game almost TOO easy. Saving the game ANYWHERE and a few other additions sort of took away the REAL challenge that FFIIj is supposed to be like.

I just finished my game on DOS and now I'm playing that Soul Of Rebirth, then I'm moving on to FFIIIj... but damn I have to redownload an emulator and rom for that one...
