Rain Lil has levelled up - (lv 1)
The Massacre of Little Rock

The sound of a loud, blood curdling scream awoke Rain. She sat up in bed and glanced at her clock with blurry eyes. It read 12:07 AM.

Ahh... third time this week. Why does she always do this? I'm trying to get some sleep!

The cold wood floors woke her up abrubtly as she set foot over the side of her bed. Shivering and only dressed in her pajamas, she slowly tiptoed to her mother's bedroom. Outside, her German Shepherd was sleep, or that's what it seemed. There was no whining or howling tonight. When she reached her mother's bedroom, she stretched her arms out and yawned. Rubbing her eyes, she examined the dark sheets and lump in the middle of the bed. She never remembered the sheets being a dark color, nor did the family ever leave any windows wide open. She walked over to the window and shut it with a loud crash. She was sure that her mother would wake up to the loud crash, but she was in a deep sleep, it seemed. But suddenly, there was a gurgling sound coming from her mother.

"Ge... o... u... t!" was what it sounded like.

Rain shuffled closer to her mother, then she let out a terrible cough. Rain wiped her cheek off and looked down at the back of her hand. A dark, thick liquid was smeared all over. Rain's eyes darted back and forth, from her mother to the liquid. She then put a hand on her mother's throat--where most of it was coming from. Just what she was thinking! She had put her hand in a thick liquid--blood. She let out a squeak and ran for the phone. In the middle of the hallway, she tripped on more dark liquid and fell onto her back. She tried to get back up, but when she did, she screamed. A LEG! She backed up, crawling away from the leg, but at the same time staring at it with big, glossy eyes. She scrambled to her feet and ran for the door instead. But when she even got halfway, a dark figure stopped her. She shook her head and closed her eyes.

"No... No..." she muttered. Then she bolted towards the living room and to the sliding-door where it led to the backyard. She flipped on the lights and then saw her dog in a lump of dark blood. All his four legs were separated from his body and for a cruel joke--his face was twisted into a smile and its tongue was sticking out at her. She looked back and saw that the dark figure was staring at her from the hallway. She tried to wipe the tears away from her eyes, but only ended up smearing her mother's blood onto her pale cheek. Suddenly, a dark pillow case was thrust over her head and...

Rain woke up screaming, drenched in her sweat. There were tears in her eyes and she could barely breathe. Suddenly the lights were turned on and her cousin Nantai poked his head in her door. His brown eyes were in slits and his long brown hair was tangled all the way to his hips.

He sighed, seeing the state his cousin was in, "Shh, Shh, calm down now. You're safe here. It was just a dream, girl! Snap out of it." He began to hug her and soothe her hair away from her forehead. "It was just a dream, a dream."

She rocked back and forth in his arms, crying and gasping for air all at the same time.
"No... it happened, it really did! It happened... No.." she spit out in choppy sentences.

"Shh..." he said, "drink this." He handed her a glass of water and some aspirin. After a few minutes, Rain calmed down and closed her eyes, falling back asleep. Nantai laid her back down and pulled the covers above her shoulders. Then he turned off the lights and closed the door. Walking down the hallway, he sighed, "Well, so much for a goodnight's sleep." He glanced at the Grandfather clock and it read 6:25 AM.

"Ah, well all most time for me to wake up I suppose..."

Suddenly, the ringing of the phone shattered the silence.

Nantai ran into the kitchen and picked up the phone.
"Hello?" he said into the reciever.
"Mr. Kotori?"
"Yes?"
"I'm sorry to say this, but the factory members were all killed last night, all of the ones working on the Friday-night late shift. At first, their limbs were missing... but we later found them in the lounge's refridgerator..."
His face turned pale and the phone slipped out of his hand.
"Hello? Hello?! Mr. Kotori?! Are you alright?" asked the man on the other line.
"Yes. Bye now."

"ARGH!"
Haven't they had enough fun murdering people?! This has to stop...

I enjoy travelling. Not because I meet new people or see new places. I just enjoy the act of travelling. Moving from one location to another. Idleness bores me. Occasionally however, I must stop. It is my livelihood after all. The Little Rock situation was one of those stops.

It wasn't my intention to make headlines. I am a salesman. And selling is what I do. How was I to know the good doctor's wife would arrive home so soon, listening into our conversation? At least she died knowing how much he hated her. Honesty is a virtue, no? Now then, I just couldn't let the children live, could I? One of them would have undoubtedly screamed, so I merely slashed their throats. Yes yes, gurgling is no better than screams, but at least it's quieter. It also seemed the deaths of his children (purely unintentional I might add; it was instinctive) upset the doctor greatly. He was hysterical even. I was too, to be honest. After all, such copious amounts of blood drenched the upper-class home's dining room, which would do no good to the carpet. You understand don't you? He had to die. So he did.

It saddens me to think the wife could approach me and listen for so long. How did I not know? I do understand I’ve been careless recently. Not my previous self. I wonder why? Perhaps my body can no longer agree with our occupation. A terrible thought but it is a likely truth. That is fine. I am suited for other work. Change is good, no?

What was a man to do with several corpses, all messy and such? I could not dispose of them like I usually did (My usual bit is clean but no less gentle). As luck would have it, there had recently been a string of murders by undisciplined folk, most likely residents of the town. I knew I left no marks identifying myself so mimicking the 'crazed maniacs', or so the papers labelled them, was not so difficult. All I had to do was make things extremely messy. True enough, eventually someone would realize the murders were not connected but will I be around? Of course not.

******

Now this brings us to an interesting question. Why did I stay? One sale and I leave. That was how I always operated. And since this one was rather half-successful (the house had some goods, nothing that would interest me much) it would be in my best interests to leave, yes? No. I remained. Why? It was winter, was it not? Does winter not sap you of energy? Make one listless? Ah, but the opposite applies to yours truly. I love the cold. Reasons are my own, I feel alive when cold. And whenever I feel alive, I feel young. When I feel young, I feel irresponsible. I feel as if the world will end tomorrow. I feel as if my world will end tomorrow. Now what would you do if the world ended tomorrow? Make love with the first person you see? Spend your last days with family and friends? Pray to your religious icon? Kill everyone? No, I know what you will do. You will do nothing. You won't even know and your day will be like any other. And you will die. I feel the world will end tomorrow every other day. Doesn't that make life interesting and trivial? Yes, it does.

The day I murdered the doctor and his family, I was cold.

Quistis sips tea with Black Mage - (lv 4)Quistis sips tea with Black Mage - (lv 4)
December 1, 2007
In a beltway 2 miles of Little Rock
3:00 AM

The sound of heavy metal music inside her car was almost defeaning. Min could almost feel the urge to bang her head on the steering wheel. A straight 5 hour drive was not very relieving, especially on a cold winter in the wee hours of the morning.

Min brought everything she had - clothes, her gun and her used 2002 Civic Sedan LX - which she just recently paid in full. Maybe she was not planning on going back. After a white trash bastard cheated on her, she definitely had no intention of seeing her old town. She now understood how her mother felt when she was alive, love was indeed crazy enough to drive a person mad.

Min tried to keep herself awake as she took a sip from the now cold coffee she bought hours ago.

Almost there... she thought.

In a split second of turning her gaze away from the road, Min heard a loud thud as something seemed to pass below her car. She immediately pulled over the side of the road. She looked back to where she thought she hit the 'thing' but couldn't get a clear view of it.

Min stepped out of the car. She turned her stereo off as if giving respect to the cold sacred silence that enveloped her.

She carefully moved towards the strange thing that sat still in the middle of the road as a foul stench slowly began to surface. It was a black trash bag. The bag was not sealed and Min could almost clearly see what seemed to be human hair peeking out from the opening.

"Oh Lord..." she mumbled under her breath while picking up a nearby twig - using it to reveal the rest of what was inside - a woman's decomposed head. The white piece of cloth attached to her head, although stained and tattered, made it obvious that the victim was a nurse.

Min stepped back to catch her breath, trying to ward off the foul odor (in vain). She then saw a sign on the street saying.

"Welcome To Little Rock"

Best welcome gift I ever had...Did not even give me the time to rest up before I report to work. Min thought as she flipped her phone, calling the town's Police Department -where she was supposed to report to work that day.

A tall man dressed all in black, caring a large sword on his back, wandered around the dark sleeping town. He walked down the street keeping his head low and hidden behind his hat.

"Who's there?" he said wipping around fast to see no wone there. He turned and continued on his path.

"Stupid people, sleeping in their warm beds, in their rich houses, with thier nice things. They are happy and think they are safe. Happiness is a waist of time." the man said to himself.

As he walked a small white cat approched him and rubbed against his leg.

"What is it? Pathetic animal. Looking for affection wherever you go, there is no affection here." he said picking the cat up roughly by the skin behind it's head. He began to softly pet it on the head as he said. "Only pain." he grabed the cat's head and twisted it as the sound of bones cracking was heard. He dropped the cat on the ground and continued on his way.

He walked past a small yellow house. "What an ugly color." he said. "Who ever lives here has bad taste." He walked up to the house and turned the nob. It was locked. He punched through the wooden door and unlocked it then walked in.

He unsheathed his sword and dragged it on the ground behind him. As he walked past the couch he picked up a small pillow. He entered the bedroom to see an elderly man, about 80 years old sleeping in the bed. The man i black walked up to the bed and shoved the pillow over the old man's face as he awoke stuggleing. As the old man tried to get the pillow off, the man in black severed his limbs, several muffled screams could be heard. The man removed the pillow and then slit the old man's throat as he garggled up blood. "You house is hiddious." the man said as he watched the old man bleed to death.

After the old man had died the man in black cleaned off his sword on the bed sheets and then brought the limbs to stuff them in the freezer. As he was doing this a young boy approched him from behind. "What's wrong with grandpa?" the boy asked.

"Grandpa is sick." said the man in black. "But come here, Uncle Mike will show you how to see him again." he said as the boy walked up to him causiosly.

"Now, close your eyes, it will only hurt for a second." the man who called himself Mike, cut the boys throat and then pushed himinto the refridgerator. He then broke the handle off so the boy could not get out.

As the man left the house he said to himself. "It has been a good night, I feel much better now. STOP YELLING AT ME!" he screamed holding his head for a second, then he walked off as if nothing was wrong.

December the 1st.
On an empty highway leading to Little Rock.
1:00am

She was driving down the highway in her Acura RSX. Her clothes and martial arts weapons were in the back seat. A special concoction she mixed up was brooding in the trunk of her car incase she needed it for emergencies. As she kept her eyes on the road, she passed the welcome sign into Little Rock. Her body began to shudder as the sign flew passed her car. She came back for one reason and one reason only: To get revenge on the group who scarred her past.

Victoria was hoping that her vast knowledge in the computer industry and martial arts would help her get revenge on those sick bastards. Her first stop would be the city library. Hopefully they didn’t change the locks because she still had her copy of the key when she left the city. She pulled into the parking lot and walked up to the door, the clacking sound of her black five inch heels can be heard throughout the whole lot. She was wearing black leather pants and a white leather halter top. Her black hair was flowing with the breeze of wind, and her red bangs fell in front of her line of vision. She used a finger to put her bangs around her ears. Victoria inserted the key and unlocked the door. Her crimson eyes looked through the glass door for any alarms that may be triggered. She didn’t see any at the first glance. She then noticed the keypad near the entrance. Hopefully it was the same code as when she left. She inserted the code and the alarm was turned off. What was up with this library, she thought. They didn’t update the locks or security, like they were expecting her to return.

She hooked up her laptop to the nearest station and started doing research on the group ‘Victoria’ style. She hacked into the police headquarters to see if they had any activity or if any had been captured. She was in luck. None of the members had been captured nor killed currently. So she still got to have her fun before she turned them over to the authorities. She closed her laptop after getting the information she was looking for and took some liberty to check out some new books that came out using her account. She then inserted the code once more and locked up the library. She walked back to her car, putting the laptop in the backseat. She put in the keys and started the ignition, pulling out of the lot and driving off to a hotel nearby. What she didn’t know was that in the shadows, something was watching her every move.

Rain Lil has levelled up - (lv 1)
After sitting at the small wooden table for some time, the phone's loud ringing broke into the silence again. Nantai's eyes stared at the pale white phone, not wanting to hear anymore bad news. It seems like he's been getting bad news all week. He pusehd his bangs slowly away from his face and sighed. He viciously grabbed the phone and placed it to his ear.

"Hello?" he said into the phone.
Only it echoed in the background.
"Hello!" he repeated.
Again, his own voice echoed into the background.
"Look, whoever thinks this is funny isn't fooling anyone so quiet the **** out!"
With that, he slammed the phone down.

"Who was that?" said a soft voice from behind him.

Nantai turned around as fast as he could, startled. He sighed again and rubbed his eyes.

"Nobody, just some prank callers," he muttered.

Rain rolled her eyes and went to go get the newspaper. She opened her front door and almost screamed. Right in her front porch, there was a decapitated cat and a cellphone. She picked the cellphone up, which was sitting next to the cat's tail, and ran inside.

"Nantai!!" she said, handing the phone to him.
"What's this?"
"I found it outside next to a dead cat," she said, almost in tears.

He dropped the phone and began to wipe his hands on his pajama pants.
"Well, thanks for letting me know! But tell me before I touch things like this!!" he said, grabbing some paper towls and wiping his hands off. Then he picked up the phone with a paper towl and began to study it.

I wonder...

Little Rock is my hometown. I grew up here, and I know how to navigate any street you want to navigate through. I don't travel much. I just don't see the need to, quite frankly. Everything I could ever want is right here. I went to Sunday school as a child and we made bird feeders out of pinecones and peanut butter. I scraped my knee riding my bike down the hill I lived on. I cried when Claire said my brown eyes looked like poop. I made ice cubes out of Koolaid during the hot summer months, and I ate fresh tomatos with salt sprinkled on top. I went to highschool here. I had my first kiss here. I had my first drink here. I went to college here, and now I'm stuck in a job here.

When I think about it, my life was never glamorous or really that interesting. I don't stand out. I work at a factory to earn money while I pursue my writing. I'm not a worker, I manage numbers. That's all I do. I don't build or make things; I don't manage anything. I just add up what they tell me to add up.

I don't think most people mean to end up where they are. I think it just happens. When I was young and talented, did I imagine myself here? No, I didn't. But it'll do, because I have all I need here. I'm supposed to be content with what hath been dealt to me. So they say.

I woke up this morning to my phone ringing, and when I answered it, the guy on the other line said that all the night-shift workers had been killed. You want to know the twisted part? My first thought was wondering how many figures I would have to deal with as a result of their deaths.

You know, I never meant to turn into such a damn robot.
