FFVIII to easy

I must say, I've gotten to the point of not wanting to continue as it's just too easy. With ultimate weapons, junctioning and Aura, nothing puts up a fight. Omega went down quite quickly with a few lion heart limit breaks. So, what do you guys think? Does junctioning make this game too easy?

It depends, really, if you keep your levels on most your characters extremely low -> the monsters keep their level low too. Therefore its quite easy to dash through this game, the junction system is extremely handy and gives you an edge so its quite accurate so say what you did. But then again it *can* backfire on you, by junctioning the wrong things and falling to the opposite elements.

Been a while since I played it anyways.

I'll go with Dawezy here. It's easy if you do like me and prepare for 50 hours. But it also can backfire with the elements. Yeah, if you use Aura and limit breaks over and over again, it's really easy.

I don't really think that junctioning is the problem - in fact, I like the junctioning system in this game, although it seems that nobody else does. To me, the problem is Aura. Limit Breaks are only supposed to be used when you're almost dead; it makes the game far too easy when you can pull off a Renzokuken whenever you darn well feel like. Being able to Card-Mod Bahamut into 100 Megalixirs doesn't help make it more difficult, either. See, that's what I did during the final battles - I cast Aura on Squall and had him tear people apart with Renzokuken, and used a Megalixir when needed. Unlike in FF7, where you actually had to work to get that kind of power (going through the Battle Arena a gazillion times to get Omnislash, breeding a Gold Chocobo for KOTR, etc.), FF8 allows you to get stuff like Aura with almost no trouble whatsoever.

Neo Necron agrees, but I would, as I have beat teh game 5 times as I am obssessed... oh dear.

The first time I played the game I didn't find it easy so much, but it wasnt too hard. The most trouble any bosses gave me was probably about 4 or 5 attempts to kill them.
However, now I sail through the game with no struggle when I play. I agree, aura and meltdown make everything way too easy

Meltdown + Aura + Renzokuken = Ownage. No matter who you're fighting.

Exactly, if you set Ecn none early in the game, you can rip through it in sub 20 levels and have 100 meteor, aura, ulitmas junctioned. Your unstopable. One renzokuken with auro and meltdown and you have lion heart, there isnt' anything that won't go down. The first time around, I maxed out the levels thinking it was the way to go but that aint so. I find having squall high and the others super low works best, cause monsters take the average level. It's still easily the coolest game around despite some (loads) critics.

Next time I play FFVIII I plan on attempting to rush through the game pretty fast, not taking much time to train at all. I'll still do side quests and such, but I figure if I rush through I'll be doing everything at lower levels, and maybe provide some challenge for myself again ^_^.

If you want a challenge, play the game at max levels for all characters. Low levels is just easy. Whats the quickest you've all beaten it? I've finished in 32 hours

Brotherhood has levelled up - (lv 1)
I'd have to disagree. There are bosses - or even regular enemies, for that matter - in the game that can kill you in one hit. (Ruby Dragons, anyone?).

Of course, a maxed out Attack Stat and Meltdown + Aura + Renzokuken combo will rip most bosses in half, though you have to actually earn your 255 Attack. I may be missing something, but it takes about 100 Ultima spells to get it that high. O.o And those are pretty rare.

It is easier than most Final Fantasy installments, though I wouldn't exactly rule the game out as "too easy". If we were talking about FFX than I would probably agree, but not FFVIII.

Ultima and similar magic is simple to find, put on enc none and you can find around 10 hidden draw points for ultima alone. Not to mention in the shumi village and FH. The only monster that can really cause problems I find is malboro's. Unless you set up stat defences specific to them before, ur screwed.

I've maxed out levels before, and the game was still just easy. People say that monsters get harder as your levels get higher, but I really don't believe it. It just never turns out that way for me. Lower levels seemed to make most enemies more difficult.

Sure enough, monsters level up as you do, and they often get more powerful attacks, but they don't really get more difficult, as by that time you're more likely to have more powerful attacks yourself ^_^

yeah it is too easy, i actually completed the game on level 15, there is no need to level up at all.

the junction system sucks balls.

I dont really agree that its too easy. I mean if your somebody that has no clue what they are doing than youll probably set up the junction system wrong and get your ass handed to you.

On the other hand if your resourceful enough to figure out combos like Renzokuken + Aura (I actually never did that. I just left Squalls HP in the yellow range enabling him to use his limit every turn. Im an ass I know.) than you should be rewarded for it.

I actually found the junction system good because you had the option to turn your characters into pain dealing machines. I also liked how the limits could be optimized to get an advantage.

One thing I wanted to say is that isnt a game always easy if you play it alot. It gets easier the more you play it I think. Just my opinion though.
