Kingdom Hearts confuses me

What possible reason do people have to like this game?! Why is it so insanely popular when it's such a turd?!

Okay, some good characters in there from both FF and Disney. That's all!

Storyline doesn't seem very good to me.
Script+Direction is POOR! What the hell was all that crap with Riku and Kairi on Destiny Islands about?! In all honesty, a few moments are interesting and perhaps funny.
Gameplay is shockingly bad. Combat just sickens and annoys me in that game.

It's meant to be a kids game, but seems to require more patience than the goddamn 'watching paint dry' game.

To be honest with you, I only got up to 'Wonderland'/'Tarzan land' buit it hasn't exactly gotten any better.

Gummi ships suck too. And nobody but James Woods can act in that game!

*Goes off to take some pills and calm down*

Kingdom Hearts has such a weird hold on me. Yes, I acknowledge that the game play is kind of boring, and the story isn't exactly deep. It was just the overall presentation and concept that I liked.

I liked it way more than FFX and the sequel looks MILES above better with PotC and possibly older FF characters.

Kingdom Hearts is a weird game like that. I did not think it was going to be very good, and almost did not buy it. But once I bought it was actually fun to play. The fighting I enjoyed probably more than anything. But hack and slash games are not something I play too often.

The story is very lacking you just end up running world to world seeking Kairi and Riku. Very little more is explained where they drop the whole plot on you. Even worse Final Mix adds even more to story but we can nevern get it.

KH2 though looks to be a lot better than the KH. I think for KH SE was under the eye of Disney a little bit. But SE has a lot more freedoms to go as they will. That is my opinion at least. Auron is going to be fun to fight with.

Yeah, I really don't like Kingdom Hearts. I have it, but haven't gotten anywhere further than the beginning of Peter Pan. It doesn't appeal to me one bit... The battle system seems a bit boring to me too. Is there anything more than the same 3 hit combo, or am I missing something here?

Well there is the seven hit combo, but you have to level up to get up there. There is the special abilities, moves, and things you learn. You should know that if you are at Peter Pan. There is a more under the surface that you have not found. Finish the game and then return.

Though remember it is still a platforming hack and slash game with RPG elements. Platforming hack and slash tend to amount to a lot of killing using the same weapon over and over again. Nature of the beast, in a general view anyway.

I enjoy the game. originally i had no intention of buying it saying disney sucks, and Final Fantasy characters dont belong in a disney game. but then at christmas on year, my cousins were playing it, then i stole the controller form them out of boredom. (all we do at xmas is play ps2) and to my surprise the game was quite fun. i got hooked on it, and realised that this is the only good disney game in existance. didn't know why but it is. then i went and bought the game. i had so much fun playing it. i actually liked the storyline for some reason. and i also liked the gameplay, dont know why. but that is the only disney game i will ever own, that and it's sequals which i'm eagerly awaiting.

Reason why it is good, is because I doubt Disney had much to say in the creation of the gameplay. They probably just exercised creativity and character control over things. Though I bet Square was probably running most of the show, Square makes games, Disney makes movies. Disney got them good voices and most of the Disney VAs too, so they had the star power to probably push the voice together nicely. Disney probably has a longer and more professional actor base than Square.

Kingdom Hearts is more than just a children game. Despite it having a Disney-based theme with a Square Enix flair to it, it have a really deep story. If you completed the game, saw the secret Deep Dive movie from the International version, and completed the Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories game for GameBoy Advance, then you should be able to see a very deep storyline.

It's been said by Tetsuya Nomura (director and character designer of the game) that his original intention of the game is to make it simple for the general audience (key word: general, not children), but if his aim were just that, then this game will not be Square-Enix like. Therefore, they rebuild the whole game from scratch and put in a more in depth storyline to it. Stuff and stuff later, the game came to be how we see it now. This is what I remember from what I read a while ago so don't count too much on it.

However, my personal opinions on this game are that it's more than just a children game. In fact, it's hardly children-like at all. To judge this game as children-like (or kiddy) just because it have Disney elements in it is immature. The game have a very deep storyline and the game play can be pretty challenging. Overall though, I like this game very much and I'm highly looking forward to its sequel.

This spouts a new topic... many Disney movies target the general audience, yet why so many people consider it kiddy? Why damn it why? =\

To me, Kingdom Hearts isn't that bad a game at all. The gameplay is quite good and fluid compared to other action RPGs. The story is...Interesting. What you see at the beginning pales in comparison to what it grows into. So, yes, the plot at the beginning is quite simple, and the more you move through the game, the more it begins to branch out into other areas that are quite complex.

Honestly, I enjoyed the story in Chain of Memories as a whole more than I did the original Kingdom Hearts. It really is not the "Kingdom Hearts 1.5" that people make it out to be, even though it seems like that at the beginning. Like Kingdom Hearts, Chain of Memories also takes an unexpected turn.

Both games have more to it than meets the eyes, and it's hard to have an informed opinion of them without playing them through first. There are a lot of darker elements in them that a "children's game" wouldn't incorporate. It could be likened to Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker in that respect, I suppose.

Of course, I could see why people dislike the game. It may just not be their cup of tea.

Its definately on the wierd meter. Like many, I didn't want to buy it at first. I figured it would have a bunch of annoying singing or some shit and would therefore suck. But, I bought it anyways and loved it. The only thing I disliked was the Gummi Ship stuff, which was just plain corny.

The ending was kinda annoying to me though as well. He went through all of that and then... its like nothing got accomplished. One problem was solved, but overall it was not resolved. In the end I still had a lot of fun playing this game. I wouldn't even recommend it for young children really, because it has darker elements. Its more of a Disney game made for the older crowd..

I really enjoyed the game, but it did have it's downfalls. Such as the gummy ships...horrible idea...just plain horrible. I was also very frustrated with some of the sloppiness of the boss battles. Ursula (sp?) from the Little Mermaid level was a good example of the slop. Overall, I thought it was a good game, though. I thought they did very well with Halloween Town. They need to get rid of the gummy ships though.

I guess I am one of the many few people who actually enjoys the gummi ship. I find it very fun and I like it very much.

I liked the gummi ship once you could get the good parts...*cough**cough*Holy*cough*...I liked the battle system especially...no more black screens popping out of nowhere while the battle loads. Instead, there is just a change of music. It also got you a lot more involved in the battles to where you didn't just sit there and select Attack and hope you dodge the enemy's attack. Here, you have to run up to them, hit them, and dodge their attacks yourself. KH was an overall good game. The one thing I really hated though...Sora's shoes...*shudder*...
