I don't think this has been done before on this message board, but i may be wrong. i would like to know what teams you played the game with. and your opinions on mine. don't forget to explain.
--------------------------------------------------------------------- 1st completion fighter, thief, whitemage, black mage.... its well balanced, its great for those of you who just started. and possibly the easiest team to beat the game with. its not too expensive either. 2nd redmage, white mage , black mage, black mage... it was a tough start for me, but as i leveled excessively. my all mage/ wizard team positively owned. the redmage was the main defender (figure that) and doubled as a white mage. white mahe was my designated healer and undead basher. and my black mages were my damage dealers. although i spent alot of cash on magic. ALOT 3rd all redmage assault possibly my favorite playable character in the game. it was so versatile. although, surprisingly not as effective as my all magic team but it was still good. i didn't have to overlevel to win either. 4th all black belts it was a failure. i hated the team. they missed every attack. and i had to wait until they were up to level 10 to be effective. by than i was tired of dying to much so i stopped 5th- solo red mage. it was difficult. if you think your up for the challenge try it. although i did manage to beat chaos... at level 50. this was the highlight of my gaming career 6th All white mages it was a challenge and i still haven't beaten the game. currently i am at level 33, in the by training agains the undead only. i am a long way off from level fifty. although using alot of defensive and healing magic is the powerpoint of this team. it is fun. i had more teams but i didn't want to post too much, so i'll do it as time progresses.

Honestly, as much as I love this game, I haven't been huge on the variety factor, but here goes:
Fighter, Black Belt, White Mage, Black Mage - Honestly, I think this is a better option than having the Thief. Sure, the ability to run away with more success is nice early on, especially in the Marsh Cave, and sure the Thief gets better later on, but I've been a Black Belt fanatic for a long time now, and Thief sits at the bottom of my list. So IMO this is the best set-up for any novice to the game. Fighter, Fighter, Fighter, Fighter - At the time when I did this party I had planned on beating the game six times that summer, rating the challenge factor of each part of the game along the way. A pity I never kept going after this one, but hey, we all knew that four Fighters would breeze right through, assuming you have the fundage for updated equipment. =P Black Belt x 4 - This was long before my Fighter group, back even before my days of Red Mageness. When I first joined here I was a Black Belt FANATIC! What changed things? 8-Bit Theater, my friends. That got me hooked on Red Mage, and the rest is history! Anywho, I digress. If you can get to level 12 with these brutes the rest will be EASY! You can easily fund 99 of each handy item as you go along, and once you get the Heal Staff and Heal Helmets it'll be even easier. 8 hits x 4 = TOTAL ANNHIALATION! Fighter, Black Belt, Black Belt, White Mage - Very nice group, and moderately expensive. The Black Belts, of course, balance out the cost wonderfully allowing you to spend less time farming for Gold and more time killing monsters. Fighter, Fighter, Black Belt, Black Belt - Muscle, muscle, muscle. Do you think anything lives for very long? Nope. Black Belt, Black Belt, Red Mage, Red Mage - Ah yes, the time trial group. My personal favorite choice now, with plently of brute strength coupled with good magic and cost efficiency. Well, after Elfland that is. Two sets of two levels of spells plus two Silver Swords adds up fast...>< White Mage x 4 - Honestly, I've never gotten far with this group before wanting to try some other combination or getting hooked on another game. I think my Cartridge has this group at the moment...I really need to follow through with this one someday... I KNOW there have been others, but none of them stand out. I've used both Thief and Black Mage more than I show, but I take BB over Thief a lot and RDM over BLM quite frequently. After all, the most useful BLM spell is FAST and Red Mages get that one, too...^^;;
