Ok, ok, I'm hearing some people say, "Yeah, but FFI or II isn't my favorite!" I understand that, but don't tell me there aren't some things you liked about FFI or II? Something that makes the games so much fun to play....tell me, tell me. Cuz....I'm interested, naturally. Becuz right now I'm clearing FFI & II: Dawn of Souls. Which is pretty good, but easy, but still fun.
The things I liked about FFI is......the Red Mage!!! He is very very very cool ![]() The things I liked about FFII was the level up system, you could mold your own character. It was always pretty annoying to do so, but still something good. SO, TELL ME YOUR FAVORITE THINGS ABOUT FFI OR FFII!!!! |

Favorite things, eh? Hmmmm...where to begin? The customization. You have six classes to choose from to fit into four slots, and that choice affects the difficulty (or lack thereof) of your trip through the game. Sure, the systems in III and V were nice because you could choose from a lot more and change them at any given time, but think of how challenging it would be if you had to choose just ONE from the start and keep it all the way through the game! OMFG that would be a thrill! I might just try that with FFV! Another great thing was the "Personalized Inventories", for those of you who have played the NES version of it. Four weapons, four pieces of armor each, no more than that. You had to decide if that White Shirt was worth keeping over your Opal Gauntlet. It was part of what made the game challenging, along with the lack of auto-retargetting and the small pool of Magic Points to use. I love a good challenge, you know. The harder the better. I hate the Origins version because they took out some of the difficulty, and I refuse to even pay for Dawn of Souls because it is even more n00bified, from what I have read. I'll keep my NES version, thank you very much. And who could forget the greatest line ever!? "I, Garland, will knock you all down!" Pure intimidation there, my friends! Oh, and what about the Invisible Man? How many other Final Fantasy games have an invisible man? Thought so! And the "Hall of Giants" in the Earth Cave is excellent! A battle every step through that corridor. A great place to level up and gain Gold early on in the game. The creation of...THE RED MAGE!!!! *Cheesy pose and red lense flare* The crappiest character (Thief) becoming one of the best characters. (Ninja) I could go on about this great game, but I think I'll stop now. ^^

I must say, you sure do know what you're talking about...LOL
I last played FFI & II: Dawn of Souls, and I cleared Final Fantasy I in 2 days......yes, 2 days. Although I was playing on an emulator, it didn't really matter, cuz you had the opportunity to save ANYWHERE you wanted....(yawn). So I agree with you that FF Dawn of Souls was noobified. What WAS fun, was the fact you could fight the kickass bosses of FFIII (unknown to me ), FFIV, FFV, and FFVI. That was very cool for.....this stupid generation of gamers.....riiiight. That didn't come out right. Anyway, it was fun to kick Rubicant's ass once more, slap Shinryu silly, and patronise Doom Gaze again.... Overall, it was fun, but not worth it. BTW you could find these bosses in the extra dungeons....very boring once in a while, but you could now obtain the Ultima Weapon! Yeeehaw! (the sword, I mean). BUT it's not better then the PSX version, and it kinda makes the original FFI look.....weird, wich is NOT GOOD! FF RULES....even the first one.... ![]() |

FF I for me was truly all about customization. I liked the host of options you had to choose from as far as character classes, and oddly enough I've never heard anyone say it like I've thought of it. The whole game...with one character class. With games like FF X you don't really have a class, as you can branch out to all of them, this restricted you to making your party work no matter what.
I dunno, FF II was not overly great in my opinion. I certainly didn't enjoy the level up system as it didn't relate well with the battles. I mean, you could fight and fight and fight, but if you didn't attack alot in those battles or didn't try to battle alot, you would be considerably weak when you get into later fights. You have to get hit, to gain hp. I dunno, I guess I liked the Magic System the best, and I also liked the graphics of the game. But most of it, I didn't enjoy or did, but wasn't astounded by it.

...he stepped out in front of the party - revealing the mystic steal. darkness fell over the stone hall as the dark mage held the sword aloft. suddenly the blade began to glow in shades of deep purple, the mage's tall hat casting ghastly shadows on the wall. one by one a poison gas engulfed the attacking creatures, instantly terminating the would-be foes... *snaps out of it* sorry, got excited there for a moment. i also dig on the no auto-targeting in FFI. it makes you actually have to display a little bit of intelligence in each and every encounter - no just holding the A button and raking in the exp and gil. but still, DoS really isn't that bad. yeah, it's easy as pie - but it's still FFI and II - with amazing SNES-style spell effects, massive bonus dungeons, and the remake versions of those heartbreaking nobuo uematsu classics. it's really a great play.
