Happy birthday Kurt cobain 1967-1994

Today was Kurt Cobains birthday. He would've been 38 today. So any Nirvana fans what did you do to celebrate or did you do anything? I made a cake and cranked up Nirvana all day.

I'm just listening to all of my Nirvana albums today. It's been a little while since I last put Nevermind in my CD player, so now would be a good time to do so. R.I.P., Kurt.

I'm not the biggest fan of Nirvana, but I listened to some of their Greatest Hits to "celebrate", if ya even want to call it that. R.I.P, Kurt - you'll always be remembered.

Feb 20,2005 is the date of his birthday.
You could've just checked the date I posted it.

Edit: Another year has come and gone for Kurt. I've taken the day off today and am listening to Nevermind, In utero, unplugged in new york, and the box set today in memorial. No cake this time.

So I guess I'll ask the same question. Any of you Nirvana fans out there do anything for Kurt's 39th bithday?

Heh, one of the few musicians who died "tragically" that I refuse to pay my "respects" to.

He did nothing for music but inspire a bunch of dumbass people to pick up a guitar and play shitty "music." He was also a whiny drug addict who was to weak to deal with his problems and then took the cowards way out by killing himself.

I hope you are ****ing miserable where you are now, as with almost anyone who commit suicide.

Talk about someone who knows nothing about music. You are perhaps the most ignorant person I've ever met. But to say that you're alone in those sentiments is false. There are alot of "Nirvana-haters" out there that simply won't accept the fact that he inspired a generation as well as countless bands during and several years after there success & demise.

I'm not going to sit here and argue it either, if you don't know how the band inspired others or are not willing to accept it, than there's no point in trying to explain it to you.

I listened to Nirvana today while driving in my car to and from work. I also watched some Nirvana videos on my pc late last night/early morning I watched a few concerts and some rare videos.

I honestly forgot about his Birthday, you'd think with the s/n that I'd have a shrine or something. But no, he was one of the greatest musicians or artists ever, but I have too much stuff on my mind at the mo to think about why he's not here and what it would be like if he was. I'm just going to chill at home tonight, eat some italian, drink some wine maybe, and watch tv.

It's terrible he's gone but if one was to defend the aspect of great music or inspiration on Kurt's part, you could say why is it 12 years since he died and we are still talking about him?

Because he is dead. If Kurt Cobain was still alive, Nirvana would probably be a novelty act like their peers Mudhoney and Pearl Jam, releasing one soundalike album after the other.

Before Cobain's death, Pearl Jam's II had actually sold more records than Nirvana's Nevermind and if it wasn't because of that then they would probably be considered the leading "grunge" act today.

Happy birthday Kurt, even though I'm not a big fan or anything. You did make some great music. R.I.P.

You know, many people ask that same question, would he as famous if he was still alive today? My guess would be no. Would it be the same for John Lennon? If he was alive today, would he be considered a legend? I have nothing against Kurt Cobain, like I said he made some cool music but he definitely wasn't one of my favourite people.

The ironic thing is, Kurt would LOATHE the amount of worship he got after death (Mainly from people who weren't even fans of him when he was alive)

Bleach - Good
Nevermind- Rubbish with 4 good songs. Smells Like Teen Spirit is the most overrated song ever.
Incesticide- Good
In Utero- One of my fave albums

Meh.

Hahahah. Finally, somebody else I agree with on the subject of Kurt Kerbang.

Don't get me wrong, they had some good music. Not much, not much at all, but some. And they were somewhat revolutionary -- their image took them as far as their music did. But if Kerbang hadn't killed himself, they would have faded out as the low-talent druggies they were. Being good enough to be the best "grunge" band of all time really isn't that much of an accomplishment.

I like their sound, not their lyrics.

As Weird Al once said, Nirvana sounded like they had marbles in their mouth.

It's not just because he was dead, if no one considered him great then the thread wouldn't have been made friggin 12 years later. 12 years is a helluva long time. Whether his death amplified there popularity, nonetheless people still fell in love with the music whether he's alive or not, and that goes beyond people just liking Kurt. Therefore their music must be good to some people.

It's Pearl Jam Ten by the way, not II, unless you are referring to Versus. While I won't dispute it formally either way, I simply can't believe that, Ten did not have that great of tracks on it. Don't get me wrong, Black is my fav PJ song ever, but some of the songs on that album were horrid. I hated Oceans, and even tracks like Why Go or Porch were not that great.

It's an interesting theory, but the same could be said for John Lennon, 2 Pac, Biggie, Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix. I'm not really comparing anyone here, and I have to say that because one of you fools will walk in here and say "you're comparing Kurt to Biggie, how dare you" lmao, when people get out with all there opinions on who they like the best and why. Point I'm trying to make is, would any of these musicians be as good as they are or as successful if they hadn't died tragically?

You can speculate like Sasquatch, but unfortunately we'll never know. Only Kurt was on Heroin to, doing Pot wouldn't make me go as far as to call the other two low-talent druggies. N' say what you want people, and hate on them into the night, the truth is they sold millions of records and they rock. If they didn't they wouldn't STILL have the fan base that they have.

I don't know if I'd call that ironic, we all knew he hated the spotlight while he was alive, so it's no surprise that he wouldn't appreciate the worhsip or massive amount of fans that he has.

I disagree somewhat on your album breakdown.

Bleach - alright, but tracks like School and Negative Creep were later sped up in concerts to make them more energetic and overall musically pleasing indifference to these slow toned down versions.

Nevermind - the whole album was designed for pop success, very catchy tunes, very melodic and rhythmic sound. I actually think the reverse, I think there is 4 bad songs and the rest is good. My fav song is Drain You, and I don't like too much Stay Away, Something In The Way, Polly, and In Bloom. They just bore me for some reason. Smells Like Teen Spirit is a great song, it just has excellent dynamics to it, and a killer sound. Overrated, I don't think so, you're an extreme minority that says that, considering nearly every magazine, periodical, or online list of greatest songs ever always has that song somewhere in the list.

In Utero - I love the album, I like the heavy distorted sounds, and it was heavier than Bleach. Milk It is easily my fav song on this album.

Unplugged - I don't really enjoy like most people. It just is so odd the songs in that format, and they barely played any of there own. It's an ok album, I'm just not overly crazy about it.

Incesticide - I'm kinda torn on this one, my fav song is Beeswax, but that song signifies the problem with this album. It's all over the place. The lyrics are completely out of a Crack heads playbook and the sounds are just off the wall weird. It's a good album to listen to, as I enjoy it, but it's not one I'd put on at a party.
