Being rather bored I checked out AIM's Gaminbg Chat the other night. I ran into this one fellow, and we had an...interesting conversation about FFVI. The content is only *slightly* edited and the username is ommitted:

Ok...thanks for sharing. Sounds like this dude has absolutely no idea about FF VI and that is amazing in itself. Considering FF VI has easily one of the best storylines of all the games. I'm a lil shocked, but then again there are so many new skoolers out there, and so few people that actually know where the series came from.

That guy's pathetic. God, I hate people like that. Anyone whose first question about a game is "How's the graphics?" deserves to be shot. You're telling them about a great game on SNES or something, and all they care about is how the game looks, rather than the storyline or how it plays. In fact, I was talking to one of my friends the other day (he got into video games with an N64) and this is what happened:

Me: The original Super Mario Bros. is one of the best games ever! You ever played it?
Him: No, I hated that game. The graphics sucked.

Anyway, I hate people like that. People who jumped on the FF bandwagon with FF8 or FF10 who refuse to play the earlier FFs because "the graphics sucked" or because "it's old". It's a downright shame that so many people will never play the old games.

Oh, but they WILL play the older games IF they are remade in 3D. For those of you old enough to remember this, I would point out Braska Spira. He lobbied hard here for us to sign a petition for Square to remake Final Fantasy IV in 3D. He was a pompous ass, IMO.

yup, that is certainly one big idiot. can't believe that eh actually asked what system it was for right after you told him @_@. It is so true though that so many people have no clue on the roots of ff and worry solely about the graphics. ****, I'd play a text based ff if they had it.

He's still around. Albeit, toned down, but still saying some pretty stupiud things. Like he refuses to play Megaman Anniversary Collection because he's against the concept of an old game on a newer system, and that he'll keep with his ROMs. He also made a recent comment about playing *oldschool PSX games* on his computer.

I expected this, but I didn't expect it quite so stupidly. This whole conversation really ruffled my feathers. But to end on an incredibly graphicswhorical note like that really set me off. You can tell this kid was raised on the PS2 or XBox or something. He doesn't even know what the hell an SNES is. I highly doubt he's played all the other titles. Not even the numerical ones, let alone the dozen other titles.

How the hell can you claim to have played all of the Final Fantasy games WITHOUT PLAYING THE ONES THAT HAVE NUMBERS IN THEIR TITLES? I mean, shit, what was this kid raised on? Does he not know how to count to eleven? Six is right in the middle. Retard.

I bet when he says he played "ass the others", he means every game released for the Sony era. Which is FFVII - FFX-2. I doubt he's ever even heard of FFXI, or knows that it's an online-only game. I mean, really, I'd love to hear how he glided through Origins or slaughtered the hell out of Chronicles. And if he had Anthology, HE WOULD HAVE PLAYED FFVI. What a ****ing moron.

And Psiko, two notes.

Note the First: Braska Spira isn't as bad as he used to be. When you were active, he was an insane asshole; however, these days when he posts, he usually is much more sane. He's not anti-old skool anymore, which is a very good thing for him. Not really sure why he's against re-releases, but that's really not such a bad thing, I suppose.

Note the Second: While some n00bs are good for a laugh, this one made me want to cry. Or kill something. Remember that knife?

So, can anyone explain to me what the hell happened to that lovely little thing called Grammar? This person, not only is about the stupidest person I've ever met, but it's obvious he hasn't played a Final Fantasy in his life. Loco - I think you were sort of right... He reminds me of a lot of the trash on FFXI, but at the same time, I don't think he's played any post-PSX, otherwise he would know that FFVII was the first one for the PSX, and thus he would know what system FFVI was on.

These are the kind of people that are -ruining- squaresoft. The foolish twats who think that graphics are all that matter... And it all makes sense now. /killuberkillydeath

Its bringing up bad memories of Braska and his sheer ignorance on the matter of upping all old FF's to be 3D and such but eh, he didnt get too far with that as you can all remember

. Infact, it put him on the wrong end of the whipping cane that about 150% of the Old Schoolers were weilding

. Makes me wonder, is this Braska's offspring? or just a random lonely child (emphasis on child) trying to start his journey through the FF world. By the look of that convo though I'm baffled as to how he knows that Final Fantasy is called Final Fantasy.

That...guy...just...scared the s*** out of me... I'm quite surprised he still can use a computer. That guy's grammar is scary *shudder*. I mean, kids can write much more properly than this guy, even on Kinder (and that's saying a lot, but these days kids with proper grammar are somehow becoming the rule). I'm still deciding if I can forgive him for showing ignorance on one of the best FF games in history IMHO. I mean, I can forgive a n00b for not appreciating beautiful RPG gems (yes, I mean gems, not games) like BoF, Lufia, FF, and so on, but its sheer ignorance upon the matter makes me think otherwise, I still wonder how he managed to finish FF Tactics.

Now, I'm seriously thinking on slicing this guy's a**, Odin-style, so, should I do it or spare this guy?

You're all just jealous, when the rebellion comes, they'll be able to post their plans in plain site and you'll NEVER KNOW, we're doomed. They'll kill us all and create a new world order, one where there are no numbers before 7 and the world is ruled by graphics artists!

Ignorance kills, it's things like that that cause history to repeat itself. If we forget about FFVI, we'll be subjected to several more FFVIIIs.

Shortly, this is a kid, i bet my ass he hasdn't got out of primary school(didn't we all started to play at that age), so he is not guilty of his thoughts, he is just misinformed. I'll bet he'll grown old and claim to be old skooler just cause he played FFX when FFXXX is out.

What's funny I came across a thread at Gamefaqs in the FFXII forum, where the guy was saying how he missed the "old days". I figured at first he meant FFVI and before, but his actual topic was saying he missed the old style FFs in VII, VIII, and IX.

Makes you cry doesn't it?
