FF3.........on the DS?!?! *Edit* SCREENS!!!

That's right, Square-Enix has said that they will port this classic to the Nintendo DS. Although there has been no release date set or the possibility of it coming outside of Japan known, some people are already thinking heavily about it. So to the base of this thread: will you be getting it for your DS or future DS? What do you expect from this remake? Discuss.

Edit:

Oh man, somehow the world was just flooded with new screens for a ton of DS games. Here are a few FF3 screens.

It may not be much, but man is it a surprise. SE is finally showing us that they are doing some work on the game, and man, are they doing quite a bit of work. This better get a release outside of Japan.

I think there's a topic like this already, but whatever.

Square said they were going to take full advantage of the DS's capabilities. So I'm thinking it will have the following:

-Map on the second screen
-Stylus support for Navigating menus
-A graphical style resembling FF Origins on the PSX

has anyone played Dawn of Souls?

It's ****ing EXCELLENT! The music, the graphics, the.... everything. If FF3 on the DS is anything like DoS, I'm going to be in ****ing gaming heaven with this, Minish Cap, DoS, and KOTORII.

If they butcher FF3 like the did FF1 on DoS, I will cry.

I hope it comes to something other than the DS, b/c I don't plan on buying one. I love FF3 though (I've played a rom), it is my favorite FF.

I would prefer a GBA or PSP release.

I am excited about it being rereleased though, since it has never been sent to the US.

I have a DS. And it was the first time i had ever played FF1 and FF2, so yes i intend to get FF3 if it appears on the DS, so that i can add it to my list of FF's i have played.

Worth buying the DS just to play the game?

Personally, if the remake makes it as accessible (i.e., not impossible for the beginner like DoS did for the first two) as DoS, then I might consider buying a DS just to play this version. I've only played the ROM for about twenty minutes before I realized that it's fairly difficult to play blindly. I think having the maps on the lower screen would be a great benefit for people like me (who have only played one or two of the originals). I like how it seems as though you can change classes within the game, and I feel that it would be very effective in selecting parties for the various chapters of the game rather than struggling with an ineffective party while walking through some of the dungeons. I'll have to wait and see (and save my money) before I make up my mind.

I'm considering buying a Wonderswan just to have the Japanese version of FFI, so buying the DS is a definite possibility just for the sake of playing FFIII.

I play a translated version of FF3, so it's not that bad. Yes, you can change classes when ever you have enough capacity points. The more you play with a job, the less c.p. it takes to change back to it. Also, I think, certain jobs related to the one you have will be cheaper the higher your skill level in that job.

It is a really fun game, and I REALLY want to play it for real.

I haven't answered this, so I will now. No I will not be getting this game. I don't care if it's the only FF I don't have, I am not buying a system for 1 game. If they move Squarenix to Nintendo only, than I will buy it and see what other titles move to nintendo as well. But if it's just one game, than I will skip it.

This is true. I'm just going to stick to a Rom. I don't plan on getting a DS anytime soon. Maybe once it's $100.00 or less. It's just not worth the money in my opinion. Nintendo need to get their asses in gear. I thought that system was going to be great, then it launched.....

I played some games on it, and they are not up to the quality that they boasted for it, plus the sylus(sp?) is a horrible thing to add to that system. I'm going to stick to my PSP for now, aswell as Roms. <3 Liksang.

"Nintendo needs to get their asses in gear."

In what sence? They seem to have them in perfect gear to me.

I love when people bitch and bitch and bitch about how "bad" something is, yet they give absolutely NO solid reasons.

Oh, wait, you gave two reasons...

The stylus makes the system automatically suck, apparantly. How? You just said it did, and left it at that.

The games arent' up to quality they boasted? See, that's the funny thing... I don't recall hearing Nintendo boast about anything as far as their games are concerned. And if you truly know anything about video games, you'd know better than to listen to what devs and publishers have to say about a game and go off of fan reviews and your own opinions of the game. Don't listen to hype, anyone who does is walking into a disaster on their own accord, then they want to blame everyone else for their own gullible decision.

Um...you're commenting on the DS not being worth the money, but you've got a PSP? o.O

But anyway, I intend to get a DS anyway, so yeah, I'd get it, that's for sure. ^^ Besides, I want Metroid:Hunter when it comes out, or whatever the title will be, I played the hell out of the demos at Wal-Mart. With FF3 coming out for it too, that's just that much more of reason to get one. ^^

FF III for the DS will probably be a must-buy as soon as soon as it is released in English, hoping it does.
about the DS not being worth the money, I bought one here in Norway imported from the US around the time it was released there, and that cost me less than a PSP would cost me today, European release.
I'll stick with DS anytime, especially now that I hear about FF III coming for it
