The Purification [Sign-ups] *decent RPers plz*

It has been at least 50 years since it last began. It was supposed to be the war to end all wars. Unfortunately, that was not the case. It ended nothing, but instead sowed even more dissention among the kingdoms. It was known as the Blood Tides' War, named because of the vast amount of lives lost. Nations swept across each other, spending men at their leisure. The "great" kings were the very ones destroying their countries. Finally, two noble and powerful kingdoms remained victorious. They settled upon a treaty, the Treaty of Winsidor, where it was signed. They agreed to split the nation into two. The kingdom of Arqu lied to the west while the kingdom of Despiradi made its home in the east.

Valmoria is a place where magic trumps technology. There are gigantic dragons and mighty land behemoths. Though there will be no actual battle at the sea there are great leviathans. Dragons are used to attack cities while behemoths will be used to crush opposing armies. Magic can only be channeled by a select few, known as mages, who have studied in halls for long periods of time. Skilled warriors are also able to call on the elements to aid them and increase their versatility on the field.

After half a century of peace, Despiradi has become greedy. The kingdom feels that it deserves more of the great continent because they rightfully won. They declare war on Arqu and soon the citizens of both cities are once again in danger. A few brave souls will rise and make peace. One can only hope their souls will be strong enough to purify the lands.

Dragon rider
Behemoth rider
Common soldier
Common Shooter (Bows and Crossbows)
Superior Officers (includes Sergeant, Corporal, Captain, Lieutenant, and Colonel. You are able to ride horses and unicorns.)
General
Mage (1st/2nd/3rd ranks)

Dragon Riders: You have complete control over sky battle. Your weapon of choice should be the spear or javelin (probably javelin because you can throw them. You can use the spear if you plan on dismounting your dragon a lot). You are also able to call upon your dragon’s fire and use its destructiveness to destroy cities (you can use them on armies too, but that’d be rather cheap.)

Behemoth Rider: You have much power on the land as it is your domain. You wreck havoc upon enemy armies and are able to easily defeat cavalry. You are weak to some degree against bolts from crossbows and other behemoth riders such as yourself. The behemoth is heavily armored and should not be a problem. Pole arms are your weapons of choice.

Common Soldier: You are well… a common soldier. Nothing special about you. However, you are the only rank that is allowed to be promoted. Anything you find on the field is yours if you hide it well from your superiors. You are very versatile and are able to wear a wide variety of weapons and armor. Common soldiers can use swords, spears, daggers, halberds and type of melee assorted weapon.

Common Shooter: Your job in the army is to snipe down as many people in the opposition before they can engage in melee combat. Your number one priority is to shoot the dreaded behemoth before they engage your troops (the only way to take one down is to shoot the eye.)

Superior Officers: You are all commanders of your respected regiment. You ride either a horse or a unicorn. Your war horses will charge you into battle. You also have your own personal cavalry that you lead into battle. You can equip long swords to strike soldiers at your feet while they have no way to reach you.

General: You are the commander of your army. There are lesser and greater generals. The lesser generals have power over large portions of the army, while the greater general is commander to the kingdom’s army. You also have a chance to become a marshal, otherwise known as the king’s advisor and second in command of the kingdom. You are able to wield anything you want.

Mages: You are the backbone of the army. Without you the army would be rendered useless. You are able to cast a variety of elemental spells, depending on what wing you took in your studies. Your rank begins at 3rd(PM me if you want to start 1st or 2nd rank). Your available spell types are fire, water, earth, wind, darkness and light (light is for a healer). Your weapons include (but are not limited to) staves and wands.

Appearance: Vitor is a tall man and he was one of those fortunate to have been born into a wealthy family. However, he does not go around parading his wealth and to most people he appears and common worker. He wears a plain shirt, displaying Arqu’s national colors of aqua and silver. He wears black pants that are somewhat baggy. He looks very lazy for an active official and most people in the kingdom refer to him as General and not by his actual name.

Background: Vitor is a rich man and became general of Arqu because of his father’s relationship with the king. He was well liked because of his rather laid back attitude and his willingness to dig people out of trouble, which is something the king does not approve of. However, his skills on the field are quite unmatched and he is undisputedly the most powerful person in the kingdom, in terms of having power. He has no intention of usurping the throne however.

Weapon(s): Redemption – A saber given to him by his late father. It has a medallion of a lion on the part connecting the handle to the blade. It also has a lion head on the bottom of the hilt. The blade is medium sized and is made out of an unknown metal.

Abilities (Common Soldiers and shooters can’t have abilities… yet. Later you are able to have abilities based on your weapon.): Command – Whenever Vitor is involved in the battle the moral of the troops is greatly increased. The downside is if he retreats the moral of the army is decreased.

Surprise Attack – Vitor is able to come out of anywhere in a one on one battle. He strikes insanely fast and moves with surprising agility.

Appearance: Wears black leather armour. A grey hankerchief over his mouth. His black hair only comes down over his eyes. Left handed.

Background:Was found by a maid of the king trying to steal the laundry. Equiped with a Nirvana Vincent ran only to become her son. She learned he had no family and raised him as her own. When he was old enough joined hte ranks of shooter due to his precise accuarcy. Now he serves as a common shooter.

Weapon: The Nirvana. A bow crafted by his real parents and given to him at birth. He took it everywhere. His mother let him keep to remind him of his real family. It is made of jade and very light wieght. The bow it self is crafted into the shape of a dragon. A bit drity and scrtached due to it's use.

Weapons:
Cairn carries, in general, a set of standard-issue Despiradi Dragon Rider weapons. This includes:
-- One (1) Dragon's Claw sword - A 48-inch long sword with a 40 inch blade, a Dragon's Claw sword's cutting edge has a slight smooth forward curve and a talon-like 4-inch curve at the tip.
-- Two (2) Dragon's Claw daggers - 8-inch daggers with a similar curve to the end of a Dragon's Claw sword.
-- Ten (10) steel-tipped javelins mounted on a diagonally oriented quiver on Whyrrm's right side.
-- Two (2) 15-foot-long Duomspears (one forward facing tip, two backward facing tips from the shaft of the spear 2 feet from the front end).

Technique:
On the ground, Cairn is an expert with the Dragon's Claw sword, with either a Duomspear or a shorter blade in his off-hand. His style is much like rapier-fencing, as Dragon's Claw blades are surprisingly light. While in the air, he will typically allow Whyrrm to use one of the Duomspears while he uses the other, or throws javelins at enemy Dragon riders and troops.

Background:
Cairn rides out of a Dragon roost in the far northern reaches of the Despiradi kingdom. As a result, his hair and skin have both paled from almost tropical browns to their current paler states of almost white skin and auburn hair. He rides an over-grown monster of a White Dragon named Whyrrm, who was even at birth larger than was expected. Whyrrm has the capbility to lift up a large war horse in its jaws with ease, and has been known, on occasion, to crush small boulders on whims (but mostly, as he is a naturally pompous Dragon, just for show). For a general comparison, Whyrrm is about 50 feet long, with an 80 foot wingspan. This generally creates enough wind to knock over small horses when he takes off.

Background:
L'S is the younger son of the Great General of the High Order, Xilas Swingestein, Overlord of the Desperadi Red Army, anbd ruler of the Flame Demons as regent in place for the diseased king. Descendant of a great family of Desperadi warriors L'S graduated last in Desperadi's Militar Academy, a shame for his family during his youth days; L'S his name was removed from him by his father at the age of 15, marking him as a signal of disgrace to his family. He was expelled of his house and became a vagabond. Living in the street, he became an underworlder, a youth without any attachments in the world who lived only by the moment.
By his 16 years, L'S was well known as a thieve, a drunk and a drugaddict roaming the streets, he used his small military knowledge to gain advantage of the situations he faced on the streets, and the fights he always seemed to be getting into.
At his 18 years, L'S decided to travel far onto the west, seeking for another life, it was during this three years period that L'S whereabouts became completely unknown to noone, it was as if the earth had swallowed him deep and dark.
At his 20, L'S returned to his home kingdom. L'S returned wearing a huge change on hisd self, his body had became more muscular, his way of speaking showed great refinement, and over all before, he wielded a long sword on his belt, unlike most of the soldiers and generals who carry them on their backs.
L'S showed a complete different fighting style that the one developed in the Red Army, he used extremely fast movements using his sword's weight to attain a huge amount of power and blinding speed in each of his movements, his sword technique was unmatched not even by many of the superior officers that visited the bars in which L'S worked as a security guard. After, seven months, L'S decided to join the army, anbd assumed his military military life from low ranks; in less than three months he had allready received the title of Liutenant, which made him a Superior Officer.
Proving his skills to be the best of his ranks, he had scalated in the battles against the criminal lords of the kingdom many times, and his swordfighting skills seemed completely unmatched to anyone, more so over, people had claimed to see an eerie blue glow showing around L'S' sword in a few of his battles, his reputation grew far from his deeds and after the rampage that took of 3 years ago, in the rebellions of the behemoths, L'S even managed to save the lives of the royal family members.
After this accomplishment, he was promoted to member of the Crimsom Guard, the group of lesser generals that lead the different batallions of the Red Army of Desperadi; in charge of the cavalry, L'S proved himself to be the best tactician of the Crimsom Guard and gained the loyalty of the rest of its members. After four months in his duty, when the leader of the Crimsom Guard became a casualty of the even more common encounters with enemy forces from the kingdom of Arqu, L'S was promoted to head of the Crimsom Guard, he lost control of his troops but became the Generals of the lesser Generals, they were his troops and their loyalty resisded with him.
Although all of these accomplishments, Xilas still felt bitterness towards his son, and he never had felt that his son might be plotting to take his place, and tht it might ruin all that he had been working for, in more of that, they had never seem each other, until the day L'S became the leader of the Crimsoms, since that day they're both forced to comunicate directly as the only one with a higher rank in the kingdom's army than L'S is Xilas. With a showdown agains the army of Aqu becoming inminent, L'S wonders if his father is the mind plotting the invasion of the continent; but with plots within plots and L'S' excesive hatred towards his father; he is taking advantage for what might seem his own personal agenda.

Appearance:
L'S wears a blue long cape, tied to his iron belt which is the signature of his leadership over the Crimsoms, which all dress the same way but using the red color instead of blue (as Xilas wears white), he wears a black shirt, and black pants, which are mostly covered by the blue cape, the upper side of his body is covered by a blue jacket, that does not reach hist belt. He's a tall man, with a well built body, not excesive muscular, his long black hair reaches his shoulders, which makes his brown eyes resalt from his face.

Weapon:
An one and half hand Long Sword, with the incriptions L'S on it's blade. L'S' sword seems to posses weirds powers of its own, as it has been seem moving itslef alone of its own will, and it's strange blue light uncommon to the sword-magic school of Desperadi. More over, the stimated weight of the sword alone is of almost 300 lbs, which is quite amazing, as his Long Sword appears at simple sight to be regular sword, many times has L'S attributed this characteristic to the material the blade is made of, but some of suspect that there might be more than that behind the sword. L'S has acquired his alias thanks to this amazing weapon, to which he had been seem even talking sometimes.

Technique:
L'S' technique is a mix of advanced Desperadian swordfight with unknown moves only seen on him, which makes his attacks to reach blinding speed, which is quite strange in a long sword wielder; and more over impressive is that L'S handles the sword as if it was as light as a feather. L'S overhuman strength has been shown in many other ways, which includes his strange bare handed fighting style that seems to equal some of the most skilled martial fighters of the kingdom, and that has proven to be quite useful on the battle field. His incredible famous speed has only been shown while he wields his sword, and he had never seem to accomplish it without it.

Nice. I think all your characters are good. I have a request for lolosky and Malevolence though. Do you have any problems with playing the "bad" guy? I was originally going to have Despiradi be the somewhat more corrupt of the two kingdoms. It looks like I forgot that in my post...

Well here is some more to the story (mostly to save time on the actual thread):

The treaty being broken, niether of the two kingdoms is willing to lose. Despiradi is the greater of the two nations, being more populous and having more mages. Arqu, however, has promised many of the former nations their independence if they help them. So now, the two nations are of relatively equal size. The Despirtians have a secret weapon on their side too. They have the power of demons, demons that only the General of Despiradi can control. These demons have not yet been unleashed, and have a most destructive power that only the General of the Despirati army can control. The brave warriors of Arqu have been giving it almost all they had since the beginning... who knows how much longer they can hold out.

As for your suggestion Malevolence, I was going to say yes to the one page on MSWord idea, but then I realized that there are a lot of inexperienced RPers out there. I know it says "decent" so I'm not expecting people to be incredible. I will however make a half-page rule. So your post should equal half a page on MSWord, preferrably more.

I agree if we don't exceed in bthe corrupt part. I like to think of armies as great amount of people, those that are not only evil for the pure fact of being evil, it's too far fetched. I'll go for it thought, i've edited some parts of my original post. What a bizarre character i'm making

Appearance: Wears brown armor and no helmet. A bracelet on his right arm left to him by his dead girlfriend.

Background:Erik graduated top of his class. He was the best and he had a great life. He was a common soldier at 16. One day the Arqu took over his hometown and his girlfriend was killed trying to fight back. Now Erik hates Arqu and wants to destroy them at all cost.

Weapon: Valor- A spear forged by his father. The spear has his girlfriend's name on the handle. It is forged out Mythril steel. The blade is very sharp and with the right handling it can slice nearly anything in half.

Okay Zell, you can join. Just make sure your posts are long in the actual RP. The main reason is because I don't want it to get all messed up and stuff. I made a rule about typing at least half a page in MSWord before posting it here. If it doesn't take that long it isn't worth posting.
