just started this game today.
should i know anything? special?

Nah, I mean really. There's nothing all that special about FFVI aside from the fact that it's just so damn fun. It's not the hardest of the FF's either, so knock yourself out. If you want to make things uber-easy, Genji Glove + Offering will blow away any level of challenge inherent to the game. If you want to makes things a bit more difficult, refrain from using the espers as much as possible.

Other than this, the same rules of RPG's apply: save often; go everywhere; level up whenever the chance arises; stock up on heal items early on; etc.

Oh, and yeah: Setzer is God. Remember that! ^^

I've seena lot of people, especially "new" gamers, say that they hate the game because it's so slow. Just be patient with it as it starts up slow but gets going in a much enjoyable manner later.

Enjoy the game, hope you see why it gets praised as one of the best FFs.

No freakin kidding. Not only should you talk to everyone, but try talking to objects as well, like clocks, barrels, and boxes. Sometimes, you'll find items in them. And those Elixers (from the clocks) can come in handy if you're getting your tail kicked horribly.

Oh yeah, and talk to every clock, bucket, barrel you can find... you will be amazed at how much junk you get...

especially the clocks... they contain a nice item you may want.

And expariment... there are 14 unique characters in this game come the end if you get them all... any party works well, this isnt FFX where you HAVE to use certain abilities or people against certian types... have fun with creativity, and have an open mind to everybody
